Hey Mitch, firstly: love your channel. A year and a half ago I began playing magic and commander. Your channel helped me learn about mana costs, synergy, card draw, and budgeting decks. Lately however, the primary use of your channel has seemed to be as a spoiler channel. And while I still watch your vids to learn about new sets, I feel like the original vision of your channel has suffered as a result. I'm all for growth and new types of vids, but would greatly appreciate if we returned to your primary channel function of showing us how to build budget decks
I actually stopped watching when everything became spoilers in this channel. Even the leaked ones which I think actually hurt content creators ironically. As for budget content, follow Tomer from mtggoldfish and netcpking nerds. It is true that Magic has gone up in cost but there are so many powerful cards out there for cents that you can make a good budget deck.
How you gonna forget mah boi Consuming Aberration: 3C 1BU 1BL Consuming Aberration's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your opponents' graveyards. Whenever you cast a spell, each opponent reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a land card, then puts those cards into their graveyard.
@@mibbzx1493 You want him for the mill not for the body, that part is just a bonus. I usually run him in my 4 color wheels deck also just for the potential mill win. If you want more outright damage you could get: Guiltfeeder - 2Black 3 Colorless Fear, Whenever Guiltfeeder attacks and isn't blocked, defending player loses 1 life for each card in their graveyard.
Cant believe you didnt mention the background that was specifically out into the precon to pair with zellix! Also other cards to consider putting in the 98 if you do dimir are bruvac the grandiloquent and syr konrad the grim.
@@Onikokoro Yeah but imagine you have Umbris out, play this guy and mill everyone for a bunch of cards. You get the Umbris trigger for every token that enters. Plus Zellix is a horror as well, so you get another trigger there.
This is especially crazy with Umbris! Each horror entering the battlefield causes Umbris to trigger, exiling cards from the top of target opp's deck/s. I don't know which one I want as the face commander though!
@@jzoobs kind of. The horrors from Zellix will trigger Umbris's exile. You will need to use Zellix's tap ability or another Mill effect to get the 1/1 horrors
So good in the 99 for Sefris. It’s a creature that triggers sefris when it hits the yard, it can self-mill to trigger sefris, it can mill opponents if they top something good, and it makes 1/1s that can be sac’d to trigger sefris. Hngggg.
Probably good in an Umbris, Fear Manifest deck as it does not specify non token Horrors or Nightmares. So if you mill your opponents enough you will exile a lot of cards, making Umbris HUGE
Thought the same thing. Throw out Leyline of the Void or Planar Void to send stuff straight to exile, and Umbris will get huge. Not to mention, spawning 1/1 Horror token created, Umbris will trigger, mill someone else, triggering another 1/1 horror.
Such a nice explaining video recommended in my feed, after watching other not so good ones about Zellix, and after not getting satisfied enough with the decks available in Moxfield. And all this before the release?
Personally I'll probably see this in my 99 with captain N'ghathrod as my commander cause the synergy is there, but if I decide to not go Horror tribal then this guy will be first on my list for a blue mill deck.
The mmoment I saw this commander i knew This was what I was going to do with it. previously I had built a version of this deck using siona, armour of faith and a card like this to mill people so i didnt need to attack
Can’t believe you missed Hair-Strung Koto! 6 mana artifact, tap an untapped creature to mill target player for 1. In that same vein, Phenax God of Deception
Hair-Strung Koto is my favorite card in mine. Phenax gives the creature Tap:mill so they have to wait unless they have haste, Koto itself says tap a creature:mill so it can be activated right away every time a new horror token is made :)
the Oracle text for 'mindcrank' has been updated to "whenever an opponent loses life, that player mills that many cards". for that matter, I'm fairly certain that every card that used to say "puts x cards from the top of his or her library into his or her graveyard" has had the Oracle text updated to "mills x cards"

Consuming ab is kinda meh, he can get really big really fast but he can be chump blocked since he doesn’t have trample

I have an umbris deck and I’m looking forward to the horrors in the set. As it is already, my roommate hates my umbris deck with a passion.

Scion background wouldn't trigger the commander, correct? Since it's not using the Mill keyword?
Correct. Milling does not include effects that instruct players to look at a card from the top of a library and then possibly move it to a graveyard.
