John Dupont If you are fearing fin, I’d say just start taking the pill. Start with 1/4 of pill every other day and work your way in. I’m only sticking with topical now because I started in Dec of 2019 and am seeing it through - but I will tell you, the regimen of making and applying is a pain. It’s a ling battle, so convenience will be, and is a factor to consider - especially if you start stacking other treatments. How old are you? What’s ever you decide, I can also say that after wasting time on “natural” bullshit remedies and faith in worthless shampoos, I wish someone hammered it in to my brain to begin fin and minoxidil earlier to maintain and prevent, because we’re all going to age, loose ground and mature until we die. So make a choice today if and how you want to begin fin (if not already taking it) and go for it. The sooner you start, the better off you are.
@@BillyRogan Also, I would like to say that it's better you take at least 1/4 pill as Billy is saying bcoz if you put 1mg Fin in PG+Ethanol solution, only 0.1mg(according to a Pharmacokinetic Study on Topical Fin) will get absorbed, so if two times apply then 0.2. So it's better to start with 1/4 of 1mg if you fear it or better if you overcome the fear just start 1mg tbh.

in regards to propecia. How common is gyno with this drug in your research? if a person had alittle gyno when going on the drug what are the chances it would have an effect on it? I hear its low risk for gyno at 7mg aweek, as it only can raise estro levels by up to 15%. anyway would like your view on this topic since you have many that use it that sees you. thanks.
Can you make a show on effects of low ferritin levels and hair loss? How long it takes to stop losing hair/grow back after taking supplements? Does hair grow back the same? Etc thanks
Great videos! Thank you for all the good information. I started to notice diffuse thining. I went to the doctor and told me that I hafe diffuse alopecia. I asked about a hair transplant and my doctor told me that someone with diffuse thinning can not have a hair transplant. Is that true ? If someone has diffuse thining, hair transplant is not an option? If so, what someone with diffuse thinning can do about this situation? Thank you!
I don't think that it is a definitive no. But generally it depends on what the desired outcome vs donor availability vs age and progression of hair loss actually is.
Hello , when you stopped using the minoxidil and continuing to finasteride did you notice shedding ? I mean ,does it benefit to continue on finasteride alone?
Hi doctors. Thank you for all your valuable information and knowledge! I wanted to ask, is there a difference between taking .5 mg of fin everyday or 1 mg every other day 3 times a week? It’s the same dosage in the end but wanted to know if the act of taking it everyday or one every two days makes a difference.

Good request for a video as I have developed a complication that doesn’t seem to be in the literature regarding hair transplant complications. One month after my Sept. 30 th 2020 FUT hair transplant, a bald spot with scalp atrophy (indent) formed where the local anaesthetic was administered. Has anyone ever heard of this type of complication? The surgeon has looked once but didn’t want to inject the area due the atrophy present. Can’t see a dermatologist until July 2021. At this point I am not sure if this is non-scarring or scarring type of alopecia that has developed from the trauma of the surgery. Regardless of the type, no treatment has been given. I was thinking perhaps I should request that it be treated with topical corticosteroid ASAP? Started Minoxidil January 15 2021. Female.
Can you please do a video on treatment options for hair loss due to scalp psoriasis? I've had scalp psoriasis for over a year and I feel like it's accelerated my male pattern baldness. Can the hairs lost due to psoriasis grow back even if the spot has been affected by psoriasis for a long period of time? Would treatments like dermarolling and PRP make things better or worse? Could minoxidil and finasteride be beneficial?
hello, I’m 17 and starting to bald slightly. You always say to tackle it earlier so would it be safe for me to start finasteride? I would really like to still have hair 10 years down the line and at this rate I don’t think it’s going to happen if I don’t take action. keep up the great work guys, really helping me learn a lot.
Depends because some 17 year olds are already fully developed and finished puberty while other 17 year olds are late bloomers and might still be going through puberty or in the end stages of it. When going through puberty, it’s crucial that u not inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT because those sex hormones are what develop u into a man. So my advice is go consult with a doctor and if they say u are mature and developed enough to take it, then go for it. But if they tell u that u should wait a bit and then get on finasteride, I would recommend taking minoxidil for a couple years which can buy u some time before using finasteride.
how quick can a doctor diagnose mpb i noticed my hairline moving up very slowly the past four years i am 24 i still don't have a high hairline but he looked at it for three seconds and said it was mpb without asking me any questions about anything should i get a second opinion before i start taking finasteride.
If someone gets slightly low libido from 1mg 3 times a week of Fin , does this mean they have to lower the dosage , frequency or it means they are not good candidate for finasteride
Libido is mostly in your head trust me just try not to think about side effects and don't read all the horror stories they'll make you anxious....I have no sexual side effects but feel somehow lightheaded and dizzy...did you experience something like this ?
I'm curious about the following topics: scalp massages, peppermint oil, LLLT usage and duration, other at home treatments. I'd love videos on LLLT usage frequency and power levels (I have a Capillus 82 but I've heard anecdotes that much higher power devices are more helpful). Videos on Peppermint oil (myth or not?) and scalp massages would be great as well. I've had a single PRP and microneedling treatment (done together in about a 1 hour procedure), noticed nothing for 3 months, but at 6 months I notice a slight difference. However, I'm also doing scalp massages (casually for a few minutes a day) and using my LLLT hat (6 min / day, 5-6 days / week), so I'm curious about which of these things is helping and if I should add in peppermint oil or anything else. I have a feeling if the PRP helped, I would have noticed results earlier.
thanks for the video , could you tell me how to distinguish if one has androgenetic alopecia ( male pattern baldness) or TE ( telogen effluvium) thank you
MPB most commonly affect your hairline first, meaning if you had a receding hairline it is most attributed to mpb, although there are some cases where mpb causes diffuse thinning but these happens at the top of your head. In the case of TE you lose hair even on the sides and back, also TE hairs that are shed will have a bulb at the end of the strand, TE will most likely recover after 6 months.
Can you kindly provide some information on hair styling products and whether these can exasperate hair loss? Are there any recommendations in this respect?
1. What should you do if Finasteride is not working? For context: I've been on finasteride for around 7 months and hairloss has increased but the Hairloss rate has decreased but hasn't stopped completely. You stated that it takes 6 months to see results ans stability. In my case, there is no regrowth of hair and no stability. Furthermore, both sides of my family only have some thinning hair which is to be expected for men who are 50+ but no one is bald or have excessive thinning. I have diffuse thinning on the top and sides of my head but not the back. The hairline is nw1. 2. So, what other causes of hairloss could it be if it isn't genetic (for someone in my case)? Thank you very much
Can lack of circulation cause hair loss in women? Eg someone who is bed bound and moves a little to do basic needs. This is for the past 2 years and the hair shedding started this year and became worse quickly, mainly on the sides and temple area, but over all volume is a lot less, and when hair is wet you could see the scalp, could it also be diet cos diet has been bad too. Would appreciate your input, thank you.
One of my biggest question regarding the hair loss : People who suffer from androgenetic alopecia are their hair prone to DHT because of their genes or is it there body is producing too much of DHT ?.... I mean people who don't go through androgenetic alopecia can we say that their bodies don't produce that much amount of DHT as compared to people going through androgenetic alopecia OR is it just every male's hair in this world is prone to too much of DHT ? In simple words does "genes" contribute to the factor of producing more DHT or does it contribute towards weakening of hair follicles due to presence of DHT in one's body ?
arham nabil in short, it is basically the follicles that are DHT sensitive. If the problem was too much DHT in the system, then you would also lose hair in the back of your head and sides. Finasteride will lower your DHT levels, and hopefully lower it enough so it doesn’t get to your scalp and also not causing side effects. Thats why it is so tricky to find the right dose of finasteride for each person, and for most people it will only be able to reduce the amount of DHT on your scalp but not erase it completely, thus “only” slowing down your hair loss. You can have the same amount of DHT in your blood as your friend that has a full head of hair, you’re just more sensible to it.
No man . I respect what u said but u are missing the point . Talking about the back of head ...the back hair and side hair doesn't have androgen receptor to retain dht ..it's only present on the upper side of scalp ....that's y you don't lose your back and side hair.
@@arhamnabil9461 Some people actually lose hair from all over the scalp...regarding your question I believe that bald men have more local dht production at the scalp, and plus most of their folicles are more sensitive to androgens. Both factors play a role and inflamation such as dermatitis can accelerate hair loss.
I think your genes affect how sensitive your scalp is to dht, it doesn’t meant you need to have high dht to have hair loss, your body could produce the same dht as someone else but he is not balding whilst you are
Good day doctors, excellent content as usual,i just wanted to ask,is a receding hairline automatically a mpb or could it be something else?im a 17 year old guy, thanks
Can you make a video on the side effects of minoxidil overdosage? I used 3-4 ml every day for a month on various parts of my scalp and about 10 days ago, my ears got red, swollen and started growing hair. I reduced my dosage to 2 ml and within 3-4 days, my ears started becoming normal again but I developed ear congestion, pain (upon touch) and swelling in my right ear. That lasted for another 2 days and on the third day, started getting better. As of now, my ears are fine, the swollen, redness and pain are gone and inside my right ear, there's a very slight feeling of pressure (or maybe it's more psychological). I went into minoxidil not knowing that my ears could be affected in this way. It would be informative to know more about the possible side effects as I plan to stay on it for many years.

Hello from Spain! I took a DNA test for alopecia half a year ago, but now i´ve been hearing that it may all be a hoax. Do you know if it works? Thank you very much!
Finasteride: How do I know finasteride is working. I'm still shedding hair but I don't know if its normal shedding or if medication does not work. Shedding: how can one tell if fallen out hair is due to normal shedding VS follicle miniaturisation? Can it be determined based on the fallen hair length/thickness etc? Appreciate your work!
No, If your wife is already pregnant and you take finasteride but if your wife isn't pregnant yet and you both are planning to , then it's better to stop taking Finasteride 1 month before the intercourse for pregnancy
Not giving you any advice but thought I would relay that I unexpectedly impregnated my girlfriend while taking finasteride at a higher than normal dosage (2.5mg daily) and we now have an exceptionally healthy baby boy. If this is a case of planned pregnancy you could stop taking it for a month or so before trying to conceive just to be safe (this is the "why take a chance" approach) but if it happens while you're taking finasteride I wouldn't be concerned. There is no hard evidence of detrimental effects to a baby conceived while take finasteride. The manufacturers simply advise against it to protect themselves from lawsuits if it turns out that 1 in a million babies are adversely effected. Good luck to you and your wife.
YouKnow Voodoo thanks man, I’ve been taking finasteride for about 8 months and my wife thinks she might be pregnant right now so I was a little concerned if I may have affected the baby. congrats to you though for a healthy baby, what more can anyone ask for?

Hello, what's your take on reflex hyperandrogenicity? I was taking finasteride since January, but in April, I then started thinning and losing hair aggressively and it hasn't stopped in the crown, alongside scalp burning, pains, itching and spots in the crown where the main hair loss is. I've also had an extreme increase in the body hair growth and thickness at the same time, along with lots of acne on my face and back. Many others online have had the same experience from finasteride.
You mentioned where you travel. You guys ever come to the states to perform surgeries? I am guessing you are licensed only in Australia but figured I would ask lol.
Does taking biotin really help with hair loss? I’m 25, and I’ve noticed my hair getting thinner since I was 17. Any suggestions on how to get my problem addressed?
what do you think about mesotherapy and plasmotherapy(PRP) ?? do they work? lm doing them as well with the minoxidil+finasteride combo so is it worth it?
Hi Guys, been on the oral minoxidil 1mg daily for about a week and a half. Been getting consistent fatigue whilst using, is this a potential minoxidil side effect?
Hello Doctors, I have two questions 1) Will switching the Minoxidil brands reduce the efficacy and start the shedding phase once again. 2) My doctor prescribed me liquid Minoxidil and I have been using it for 5 months now. I have been applying it twice daily. But recently I feel that my scalp is getting itchy. I still want to use the Medicine twice a day. Can I use the Foam version in the morning and the liquid version in the night before going to bed. Will it cause any negative impacts. Looking forward to your answers
I’m obviously not the doc and I’m not a doc, but I’ll throw in my educated thoughts: 1. No. Just stick to the same solution strength (ex. 5%). Stick to a reputable maker, like Kirkland 2. No. But just switch to the foam anyway. And using once a day is probably enough. The docs mentioned a while ago that once a day is enough
would you recommend low dosage oral minoxidil ( 1.25 mg daily) , for someone who has been on dutasteride and topical minoxidil ,for years, but the hair miniaturization keep going on? thanks doc
I have taken finasteride for 3-4 years, and have long suffered from the side effect. But at that time, the side effect is not that serious, and is relatively tolerable. But now the side effects seem to become more serious, and I decided to stop taking the pill a week ago. It seems that the situation does not improve, so I want to ask will the side effect persist even I stop taking the pill anymore, as i have seen from other webs that some people claim so. I am quite frustrated right now. What is your advice??
Hey guys, love the channel. Quick question: I changed from fin to dutasteride last year because fin wasn't effective for me. Dutasteride worked wonders, but I started to get some mild side effects after a few months. I currently take the 0.5mg every day, do you think I could maintain its efficiency while reducing sides if I space apart the doses? Thanks

Hi Last doctor gave me prescription for proscar but current one like few minutes ago didn't want to give me that. He told me that cutting pills shouldn't be done and he won't take responsibility for that. He wanted to give me nezyr finasteride instead which is like twice expensive than proscar and it contains 1mg pills so only storage for 1 month
Both of them look healthy these days. Awesome. Hope covid will be over soon.
in regards to propecia. How common is gyno with this drug in your research? if a person had alittle gyno when going on the drug what are the chances it would have an effect on it? I hear its low risk for gyno at 7mg aweek, as it only can raise estro levels by up to 15%. anyway would like your view on this topic since you have many that use it that sees you. thanks.

Hi doctors. Thank you for all your valuable information and knowledge! I wanted to ask, is there a difference between taking .5 mg of fin everyday or 1 mg every other day 3 times a week? It’s the same dosage in the end but wanted to know if the act of taking it everyday or one every two days makes a difference.

There is no need. The half-life of the foam is about 19 hours. You only need to use it once a day.
Alopecia for women that was being discussed near the end . My mom has it. But shes 62.
Hello doctors! Is the scarring alopecia on this patient a complication of the hair transplant or he had this condition before the hair transplant?
You should check out the channel Kevin Mann.
It is certainly not a clear cut answer. You need to be properly assessed by a physician and a definitive plan put into place.
how quick can a doctor diagnose mpb i noticed my hairline moving up very slowly the past four years i am 24 i still don't have a high hairline but he looked at it for three seconds and said it was mpb without asking me any questions about anything should i get a second opinion before i start taking finasteride.
If someone gets slightly low libido from 1mg 3 times a week of Fin , does this mean they have to lower the dosage , frequency or it means they are not good candidate for finasteride

I use peppermint oil and scalp massages and it's really been instrumental for my hair growth
@the hair loss show, could You please make a video about bad donor hair.
Can we switch from tropical minoxidil to oral minoxidil will efficiency remains same
Oral will most probably work even better, so yeah
thanks for the video , could you tell me how to distinguish if one has androgenetic alopecia ( male pattern baldness) or TE ( telogen effluvium) thank you
MPB most commonly affect your hairline first, meaning if you had a receding hairline it is most attributed to mpb, although there are some cases where mpb causes diffuse thinning but these happens at the top of your head. In the case of TE you lose hair even on the sides and back, also TE hairs that are shed will have a bulb at the end of the strand, TE will most likely recover after 6 months.

One of my biggest question regarding the hair loss :
People who suffer from androgenetic alopecia are their hair prone to DHT because of their genes or is it there body is producing too much of DHT ?....
Both factors play a role and inflamation such as dermatitis can accelerate hair loss.
too much dht doesnt cause hairloss. if that was the case then why there are people with full head of hair and a very very strong beard
I think your genes affect how sensitive your scalp is to dht, it doesn’t meant you need to have high dht to have hair loss, your body could produce the same dht as someone else but he is not balding whilst you are
Thanks a Lot for a great info
I wd Appreciate l if u U Share other Cases of post op Complications Thanks

How’s your hair now
Can you make a video on the side effects of minoxidil overdosage?
Have you looked at natural alternatives? I use rosemary and peppermint essential oil, check it out on my channel!

Is there any other thing that causes hair miniturization or is that only limited to Male pattern hair loss?
Yes nutritional deficiencies and also DHT can cause miniaturisation

Lack of blood flow to the scalp is also another major cause.

Is there any risk for the baby if my wife gets pregnant while I’m taking finasteride?
There is a theoretical risk, albeit small. We generally suggest that men come off their finasteride a few weeks' prior to trying for a baby.

1) Will switching the Minoxidil brands reduce the efficacy and start the shedding phase once again.
I’m obviously not the doc and I’m not a doc, but I’ll throw in my educated thoughts:
1. No. Just stick to the same solution strength (ex. 5%). Stick to a reputable maker, like Kirkland
2. No. But just switch to the foam anyway. And using once a day is probably enough. The docs mentioned a while ago that once a day is enough
