  • It's no secret that if you want to make big power from your forced induction car, a reputable front mount intercooler is necessary. In this episode I replace the laughable stock intercooler found in my e93 BMW 335i with a massive VRSF 7.5'' Step Race Front Mount Intercooler. The difference between both FMICs is night and day!

    you can roll the 5" inter-cooler for 500whp or below, when you go bigger like the 7" or the 7.5", if not tuned carefully then it could result in a loss of back pressure, which means less power. you have to run a lot more boost for it to be efficient on the stock turbos. that 7.5" will work amazing though if you go single turbo. so for anyone watching, like he said, since he is going all out later he is going for the bigger. if you don't plan to change out turbos on your N54, only put in a 5" inter-cooler for best performance. also for people that roll a 5" inter-cooler, there is no need to modify the inside of the bumper, it is a plug and play.

      The 5 inch is only for people that dont want to cut the fins. The 7inch and 7inch HD iat temps stay way cooler than the 5inch which means more power. They might have a little lag in turbo spool but hardly noticable.

      Agreed, looked into this prior to buying my aliexpress 5" intercooler (Basically a ARM replica, if not the exact same one minus the branding) and it has run me amazing ever since on my stock turbos. Anyone interested in the link reply here and I'll send it. Hell of a deal and it was plug and play as well.

      The need of back pressure to make the most power is a myth. That's only true with N/A cars with a turbo car the turbo creates all the back pressure that is needed

    Since you went with the larger intercooler. I'm surprised you didn't go with the other intake setup, but i'm guessing since single turbo is the end game, you'll be switching intake setups anyway. I think a good video would be to explain the differences between the two intake setups you can do for people who will stay stock turbo location. Its very beneficial. Also a video where you install some LSD would be great :)

    Get a little can of McGuire's aluminum or wheel polish and it will clean those headlights right up! A detailer showed me that trick and it is fast and the best thing I have seen actually work. Also, leave the bottom grill. Looks good that way.

  • @BboyAMD
    @BboyAMD 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just found your channel and it's honestly very refreshing. Too many air heads these days thinking they "built" their cars by bolting on some parts and looking down on people who let others work on their cars... of course you can be proud of working on your own car but don't get cocky about it when the guy next to you is actually fabricating his own exhaust manifold... Anyway, will stay subbed to see how your build progresses (I'm currently working on my single turbo E90).
    P.S. I know a lot of the younger crowd seem to like to get all their info from social media. Do yourselves a favor and learn to search through the online forums for whatever platform you want to get into. The N54 for example... there are years of knowledge about everything (mods, maintenance, recalls) that people just straight up ignore.

    Tip for headlights after you restore them again. Get a really good polish on them and buff them to a shine. Obviously, tape around it to not damage the surrounding paint. Clean it well so no polish residue is left. Put on a couple of layers of your favorite high temp ceramic coating. No more fading, no more yellow.

    Make sure that the walnut media does not get into the small ports at the top of the intake port. Those go to the valves and into the valve cover. Not sure what it would do if left there I spent a lot of time cleaning the valve cover channels to flush out the walnut media after I cleaned my intakes.

  • @oscarzamora-bautista5332
    @oscarzamora-bautista5332 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with you but I disagree with the angel dude. Because
    If you check out Scotty Kilmer he even says it himself unless you get a covered air filter system, you are basically feeding it hot air since it's around the open area of a HOT engine.

    • @VehicleVirals
      @VehicleVirals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well in this setup the DCI's will allow the turbos to take in more air, creating more pressure and combustion, resulting in more horsepower. Cooler air isn't really necessary in this situation. These suck in more air than the stock system which is what we need to build bigger boost.

    • @oscarzamora-bautista5332

    Oil cooler on my E60 535i is quite a bit bigger than the 335i. Would have to compare space and radiator fan assemblies. But should bolt up with some minor modification. The oil thermostat should be exactly the same. I'm very near to FBO status along with inlets,outlets and walbaro 450. I found a good bmw tuner down in Tampa so another option in Orlando is nice to see. Thanks for sharing bro!

  • @ukfrosty
    @ukfrosty 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hopeyour motor is alright. That torque looks very low. People are right though. I did an intercooler 4 years ago and saw a performance decrease (until tuned for it). Tiny snails trying to fill a much bigger void. You need a good tune to take advantage of it and it's when the car gets really hot that you'll see the benefit. Less heat soak. Higher WHP forlonger than with the tiny inefficient stock intercooler. Bigger FMIC, definately a mod to have in Florida.

    • @VehicleVirals

    It is definite overkill. For what you have in the car already, an eBay 5” would work. It’s only $150 and you can save that 7.5” for when you upgrade your turbos. An eBay 5” will work well with your current set up than that 7.5”. Save the 7.5” for when you go over 500whp.

    It doesn't matter where the intakes are IF you have an intercooler. The intercooler will cool the air before it goes into the manifold. Also, HATE the dude's Nissan having blacked out lights. That is the single most idiotic thing the youth car enthusiasts ever came up with. The contrast between the taillights and the body is what makes the back end look so cool. Why would they screw that up??? Not to mention the moronic concept to lessen your safety of the lights warning other drivers. Just NOT the thing to do.

    Got a question for everybody. I recently upgraded the stock Intercooler to a 5inch ETS Intercooler on my bmw 335i N54 6speed. My question is do I need to get a tune on my car since I upgraded my intercooler, or can I just drive the car stock without a tune? Will it hurt the car in anyway?

    Hey man I know this is the wrong video but I have a question about your charge pipe. Does the HKS BOV twist on yours because mine does and I have a boost leak because of it. If yours doesn’t, what O ring did you use?

    • @VehicleVirals
      @VehicleVirals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The HKS blow off valve doesn't twist on, it snaps on with the o-ring that comes included with it. If you purchased an aftermarket charge pipe you have to choose the fitment for the BOV you're planning to get
