What's odd that there isn't even a sign of any wildlife, such as Headcrabs, and Antlions as even they are gone. But what's very concerning is that there is not even a single sign of G-Man having any presence here, for once seeing sightings of him in this case would be some form of "assurance" that Gordon is not truly alone. However, he finds himself roaming an empty world in a state of permanent nightfall, devoid of its occupiers and its remaining populace, alone...
If we assume this empty world is post-Combine victory, then the absence of G-man is not that disturbing here seeing as canonically, he was genuinely captured by the Combine forces, and had tried to send signals beyond his prison with Alyx being the subject to receive them.

The way the items are placed almost entirely, with some exceptions, exactly where they'd be in the regular game and there are still lit fires means whatever happened did so very, VERY recently, and it was something so sudden and inescapable that not even the combine or gman show any trace of having stayed.

The most offputting thing about this is the fact there are still some things that wouldn't last long without someone maintaining them littered around, like still-burning fires, and the occasional lightbulb. Either we're not quite alone in this empty world, or the people that used to inhabit it only recently disappeared without any traces.
The fact that its always night time is a scary thing. We dont know if the mod was set at night time or the combine had pushed earth out of the solar system while somehow keeping the temp enough to survive

I think it’s more that the Combine polluted the earth so bad that the sky is permanently covered by dark clouds of smoke. Otherwise the city would have frozen over.

I find this as a cool idea. Like, g-man putting gordon in more of a purgatory, where gordon re-evaluates all of the places he has to go through but without any enemies, just like training before a big fight. What really sells it as a purgatory is the fact that noclip or not, you cannot kill yourself. Fall damage, grenades, you try it, and you'll still live.
I don’t know what is worse. Gordon being raging maniac killing innocent soldiers who tried to rescue him or Gordon having complete delusion due to him being last human on earth.

This really feels evocative of what Earth's future could have become, had Gordon not arrived when he did. This strikes me as a world where the Combine won - where the Resistance was crushed, humanity fully converted, and every last resource of value extracted. And now that Earth is a useless husk, the Combine have moved on to discover and exploit other worlds. For humanity, it was the end. But for the Combine, it was just another day in their empire.
Look up the Half-Life 2 beta wasteland concept art. That’s how I imagine the world would become if all resistance fails and the planet is no longer habitable after all the resources have been drained.
Half life 2 in this fashion makes it into a survival horror game with puzzle elements, and unexplainable noises, and that fear of something looming over your shoulder always being around, but intangible, I was expecting an unexpected enemy spawn around every corner.
Can you imagine sitting someone down to play Half Life 2 for the first time and this is what it is. Their glances at you met with no response as you watch them smiling, the deafening silence amplifying your insane look.
This just feels like a weird GMod huge map, it's so weird to look at it without combine shooting at you as soon as they hear you walk by, it feels like Gordon is in some kind of "Punishment" For not accepting the job at the end of Half Life 1

i like to think that this is the aftermath of Episode 3, after Gordon saved by the Vort, he sitting on the coast relive everthing after the first time he awoken from the stasis, he end up back in city 17 but everything is just a faded memory, there is no one left to recognized him, he opens his eyes again, and he sitting on the shore of Nova Prospekt
I appreciate the irony of Ravenholm feeling more inhabited than City 17, having some lit up rooms visible trough windows, whereas City-17 is almost all dark.
It’s even creepier when you leave the trainstation, the station is quiet and you just feel like no one’s in the area or possibly even the city, but then you get outside, into the city, not a sound at all, and it just feels like the city isn’t empty, the whole country your in is, it’s so unnerving to me
Another scary fact about this is the fact this is Freemans own doing. As he had been the one to cause the resonance cascade. This feels like a punishment from G-man for his actions in the test chamber that day.
What I find creepy is the fact that the coast ocean isn't drained, nor are there any aliens. Something, something very angry must've forced the combine to leave in a hurry, aswell as other people to leave in a hurry too. Perhaps causing g-man to deploy his finest asset into a husk of a world.

i think the sky is the most haunting thing about this mod. you can see the morning begin to break, particularly when you get to the coast.

i like to think that this is the aftermath of Episode 3, after Gordon saved by the Vort, he sitting on the coast relive everthing after the first time he awoken from the stasis, he end up back in city 17 but everything is just a faded memory, there is no one left to recognized him, he opens his eyes again, and he sitting on the shore of Nova Prospekt
I appreciate the irony of Ravenholm feeling more inhabited than City 17, having some lit up rooms visible trough windows, whereas City-17 is almost all dark.
It’s even creepier when you leave the trainstation, the station is quiet and you just feel like no one’s in the area or possibly even the city, but then you get outside, into the city, not a sound at all, and it just feels like the city isn’t empty, the whole country your in is, it’s so unnerving to me

Another scary fact about this is the fact this is Freemans own doing. As he had been the one to cause the resonance cascade. This feels like a punishment from G-man for his actions in the test chamber that day.

There's probably a timeline in our world where everyone is gone and it's just Gordon Freeman roaming around Earth to look for a purpose

What I find creepy is the fact that the coast ocean isn't drained, nor are there any aliens.
Something, something very angry must've forced the combine to leave in a hurry, aswell as other people to leave in a hurry too.
Perhaps causing g-man to deploy his finest asset into a husk of a world.
As if HL2 and source ambiant weren't creepy enough
as eery and terrified i thought id be watching this all i feel is somewhat sad and nostalgic, like going to school at night it just feels weird seeing a place so busy empty like the combine won and gordon was too late
