So clear and fantastic timing and rubato. Haochen makes the piece sound fresh and like a musical gem instead of just a display of pyrotechnics (though Haochen has that in spades!). I got to hear Haochen live recently in one of the best performances I've ever heard in my life. Phenomenal pianist AND musician. A true artist.
why does his music always sound mundane and unimaginative? like he's still a student and only plays to impress his professors not for himself, let alone to be creative. performance like this can be heard in the hands of thousands of music students worldwide, and they could be more imaginative than he does here.
I love this guy. DEEPLY musical, style, architectural view, pacing, technique, dynamics, tone. Worth 10 LL's.
