Alrighty, a lot of questions have come up since posting this video, and I will try to answer them here. 1. "How do you aim in the mech?" Your aim is whatever your aim keybind is set to in your options. It should be right click by default. Having it set to right click will force you to fire the gatling gun, since there is no way to change the mech controls at the moment. 2. "Is there a way to aim without wasting ammo?" There are several ways to do so. The simplest way would be to rebind your aim key to something besides right click (obviously, not ideal since that's how 99% of PC players aim). Other more obscure methods include using a controller in addition to your keys and mouse, emulating a controller, or using a macro. 3. "How do YOU aim without wasting ammo?" I use a virtual controller emulator to mimic xbox 360 controller inputs with my side mouse buttons (mouse4). Whenever I hold mouse4, the game registers it as holding the left bumper on a controller. In my controller settings, I have left bumper set to both aim and swap shoulders whenever it is held. If you look closely at the gameplay in the video, you can see the control icons in my HUD switch between console and PC icons whenever I swap shoulders. This setup works because your controller bindings are separate from your keyboard bindings. This allows you to map the same action to multiple different keys, as opposed to just one. Found a way to do this without firing the gun relatively easily. just set your aim button from "hold" to "press" as it acts as toggle-aim and works perfectly well with the mech a bit weird since i, like most people, am used to holding RMB to aim, but a fair few games have toggle-aim as a default so it just took some readjustment and it's fine
part of me hopes that we can have FPV with the mech too, just because piloting in first person would be incredibly cool but also because it would centre the camera
PSA FOR PS5 USERS: You need to switch the aim button to L1 and the “switch aim mode” button to down on the d-pad to make this work on console. Unfortunately it does not work if you have the aim button set to L2.

For PlayStation, the button you use to ADS should switch perspectives like this on the bot. I wonder if that’s a viable option over trying to switch the button for ADS entirely.
unfortunately its not as crazy as I originally thought it was. While yes, you can aim better, you end up wasting ammo due to having to hold aim in order to shoulder swap. If there was an option to swap shoulders without aiming that would make this a little better.
For some reason, I can only switch viewpoints only when I’m holding right click- which means I can only change perspectives only when firing my minigun. Haven’t used the exo for a while, was there a patch/fix of some sort, allowing L/R perspective change without the rmb click?
Pinned comment includes info on aiming without spooling up the gun. As far as I'm aware, there was never a specific patch that added L/R perspective change. I believe it was always a thing on the mech, it just took a while for people to discover.

I'm not able to do this, I'm pressing this shoulder swap button and I'm not getting it to work on the mech unless I'm holding down the aim button, which spolls up the minigun.
It looks like in the beginning of the video he is out of ammo on the chain gun. But towards the end he's doing it with a full thousand rounds in the right arm.@@Francofish2

Patriot is fantastic, just a bit trickier to use than the emancipator IMO. I think people were left with a bad taste when the Patriot first launched, and never came back to it even after the armor got fixed. The Emancipator launched without any issues, and people realized that Exosuits are REALLY strong.
OK, on PC this isnt working. I bound it, click it. no change in the UI. The targeting may be changing, but theres no indication of it so its likely waste a missile testing it.

This is funny as I just saw a 5 minute video about someone complaining how the mech was bad and needs fixing. It was actually a video about how he was bad at aiming the rockets.
To be fair if you don't know the button to aim then of course you'll be bad at aiming. Beforehand you didn't need to press a button to aim, now you do and this isn't explained anywhere except on youtube now. Additionally, given you have to rebind your controls to switch your aim button to do this trick, it's unlikely very many people will go through the hassle just to use one tool better.
Aiming and firing the gun is caused by the mech being hard-coded to fire the gun with right click (this is impossible to change at the moment.) I have pinned a comment explaining other ways to aim without firing the gun.
@@Francofish2 That's incorrect. You can do this without firing the minigun. You'll notice the gun has ammunition later in the video. You'll also notice the gun isn't spooling while I am aiming rockets (after the demo). Check the pinned comment for more info.
This only works because he's emptied his minigun and is holding right mouse button. So basically this only works if you want to constantly spray minigun rounds. Not exactly a work around, fake news!

I rebound multiple things to make the d-pad stuff work better. I actually have the camera move as hold left d-pad.
