It's not just a difficulty thing, never has been for me. I love difficulty, I LOVE it... I was one of the people pushing for a Level 10, and I can't wait for the Hell of the Illuminate to return. The problem is that the moment-to-moment fighting has always needed to be a bit more fun. I understand primary weapons aren't designed to be able to handle everything--and they shouldn't be, that's fine. But they shouldn't be designed ONLY to handle the weakest enemies. Diving back into the game, I can already think of ten, twenty stories or more of things just... feeling better. Even when, say, a Charger killed me yesterday after I couldn't kill it (I just got swamped) it still FELT better because my primary was at least occasionally busting through its face. I saw blood, and even though I died I had the scent of that blood and my efforts to come back and kill that bastards were redoubled. What I've always wanted is to not just fall back on my old, familiar routines of picking whatever weapon works best--be it the Slugger, or the Autocannon, or being forced to bring a sniper on someone in case we got flying drones since not much could even damage them---and I just wanted a game where I could, on a whim, pick up an SMG against the bugs, or go to bring throwing knives and not risk blowing a high-difficulty mission, or just to bring and use the Spear, my favorite weapon, without it letting me down like I let my parents down. I love the idea of more bugs, or what they've been doing by adding new, difficult stuff like Impalers, or giving extra abilities to the warriors. I WANT the game to be more difficult, but more fun at the same time. I don't want to just mount up with a basic assault rifle you start the game with and lay on the ground with hordes and hordes of enemies not being able to make it to me; I want to mount up with friends, and a versatile bag of strategems and weapons, and blast the shit out of my enemies and walk away from every fight with bloody knuckles, broken bones, and a smile on my red-stained face. I would rather die facing three Chargers because of my bad positioning, or my inability to mitigate a horde of enemies, or a rough time for a reload, than fight one Charger and have the same amount of struggle because I just respawned and can't call in my only effective weapon for another six minutes, so I die because I just can't do anything.
apparently the devs don't understand this game is a horde shooter by default and horde shooters shouldn't be weapon difficulty it should be how many enemies are coming for my A difficulty. it shouldn't be me unable to even kill the basic enemies. it should be there are so many enemies on my screen i cant kill them fast enough.
Using the railgun to Aggro a bile titan a mile away, and trying to kill it with a nice clean headshot before it gets to you is a thrill i didnt know i needed..
I don’t know if it’s just me, but in the Escalation of Freedom trailer they kinda just looked like they were halfheartedly listing off statistics, some new features, and looked kinda bored. With these new buffs they look like they’re having fun and want the game to be this reckless fun. They seem a lot more enthusiastic in general.
It's impressive that they took in all that feedback and actually, truly listened. I've never seen a developer actually come through like this. I specifically commented on how the recoilless should feel powerful, that it should feel like the opening trailer and take out whatever it hit like in Helldivers 1. It should have punch to make that reload worth it. Never thought they'd actually go and DO it.
Alright this video has convinced me to reinstall HD2. I stopped playing on the patch right before they nerfed the flamethrower simply because it just got too frustrating to play for reasons you mentioned in the video. If I had still been playing and reached the flamethrower Nerf patch, I 100% would’ve quit on the spot because flamethrowers were my go to support weapon on difficulty 8/9 because of how effective it was against chargers, and I hate chargers with a fiery passion, no pun intended It was just so irritating that our tools were getting less and less effective against enemies that were seemingly getting stronger each patch That I just stopped having fun
With you on that one. When the flame buff and pyro outfit came out I would non stop play with flame weapons. After the nerfs though, I never went back to the game. Thinking about going back now that things are fun again though
@@Hanakin-Sidewalker DOUBT IT especially now since space marines 2 is doing so well and is basically the same idea, but with more of aa mission linear design then helldivers 2
My brother and I played yesterday. We launched into diff 7 with weapons that were once entirely outclassed, the recoiless rifle was one tapping bile titans, we were having fun again, it was incredible. The anti-material rifle hit hard too.

0:52 1 thermit grenade to kill a hulk. From testing, all three used together leaves a factory strider with low enough health to kill with small arms, without hitting the belly.
You can throw ther thermite over cover to hit it, I believe it’s also only 1 thermite to the belly and to it’s eye. You can destroy the miniguns wit medium pen weapons to approavh it safely as well
Can’t wait for them to do something stupid again just for players to take a stand and then immediately fold the second AH dose anything remotely close to a concession.
I started playing Helldivers 2 after the big buff patch, and I've had a lot of fun, I just wish I didn't get DISCONNECTED AND THROWN BACK TO MY SHIP, EVERY, MISSION...
yeah it's pretty fun now, high difficulty is still challenging but you can play with a lot more different options and players less than lv50 won't be instantly kicked out from every single lobby they join
Good job on highlighting the explosions. More explosions. Been playing the game since launch. Took a break and came back without knowing there was an update. I was shocked and fell back in love with this game.
How can you not love the team behind Helldivers 2? When the game came out, it had problems. The team told people not to buy the game until those problems were fixed, and now the CEO says that this problem is on him, and not on the designers. I mean, we never see this mentality with anyone else - at least I don't.
I don't want to be that guy but if their mentality was that great they wouldn't have lost 90% of the player base in 6months before doing anything to change that trend... The best mentality a dev team can have is "Show not tell" if you're there for what they show you'll be happy.
They showily killed off the majority of there player base while ignoring the clear and obvious complaints of the fandom till they were forced at the equivalent of gun point to reverse course. If they had a good mentality they would of recognized in the first few updates that players didn’t enjoy this kind of gameplay and averted course. But no, they kept going and refused to stop until they were stopped.
what you mean good mentality their mentality can go and f themselves. you wanna know why cause 90% of player base said same thing don't nerf don't nerf. they nerfed. when people were outraged the dev team said you don't like it don't play. and people got angry and CEO APPOLOGIZED GUESS WHAT they nerfed anyways. this repeated several times with CEO APPOLOGIZING on SEVERAL OCCASIONS. people underestimate how many people bought this game and how many left after first 2 months. this game sold 12 million copies and it was shortly after release. if it wasn't for how they shit on the whole community and didn't listen to the people. they could have made it to the top 50 list of all time high selling games. helldivers 2 as far as i know have the highest record for amount of people lost in 2 months after game release. the community has never come back and it wont be back they already ruined it. its only a small percent of people that's play again cause creators make video hyping up their fan base. if you look at steam charts its a fing mountain for first 2 months then flatline all the way till now.

Bro, play on the automaton side, super helldive, and you'll question reality itself. They're insanely aggressive, deadly, and accurate. They just mash that "W" key the whole time.
I assume they mean if you have 4 players each with like 200 hours on a discord call then you'll be able to beat the mission but... that's kind of a given tbh. If a bunch of people who no lifed a game got together and still couldn't beat it then there's something wrong

I love where the game is at. The bugs are a thousand times easier than bots though. That isn't really something that can be changed without a complete overhaul. Since you're not constantly being shot at by the bugs. So it makes sense. For those that want a challenge. Play level 10 against the bots. You'll struggle. It's still damn near impossible

Part of the fun of Helldivers 2 was figuring out the many ways “How” you could kill bug and bots and sticking to what works for your playstyle and Not how it should be. I’m glad that Arrowhead buffed everything and not double down on taking the fun away like other companies do. For that reason, the Leviathan of Wrath will be returning to her service.

Believe it or not, that’s actually not true even if you’re in a blocked country as long as you didn’t delete the game, you can still play it but it does still suck
one change i wish they'd make, is having local strategem hero leaderboards per ship, so you can compete with your friends, rather than a hacked leaderboard of top global scores.
I totally agree, I've wanted that for awhile myself. But that isn't even a hacked leaderboard, the devs put those names and scores in there themselves. there is a guy who played stratagem hero for over 8 hours straight and got over 1.5 million points, but he wasn't ever put on the leaderboard.
Buffing is always the way to go. Nerfing is for virgin losers. Especially for Helldivers: I have been downright scared to play on higher difficulties because it was just too hard. But now, with buffed weapons, I have more confidence to play the game in the most fun way. And it still is not easy at all!
People said Space Marine 2 would kill Helldivers, but as of now they have roughly the same number of players, with Space Marine 2 only having slightly more despite the fact it was just released and is likely experiencing its highest player count.
Ive been playing space marine and its fun but its just a tad too straightforward for my liking at the moment. Im hoping that as time goes on they will flesh it out more, its just too repetitive at the moment

Okay, but just listen: they did exactly the same thing couple months ago: 1. Don't fix shit 2. Nerf Shit 3. Buff Shit 4. Nerf shit like its some esport 5. Buff shit so people praise you 6. Profit Wait another month or two when they will nerf shit again.
There will always be balance patches. Things will get nerfed, things will get buffed. That's the nature of ongoing updates in a game like this. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and you'll never be disappointed.
@@LethalOwl Yes and no. Its PVE, not an esport. Before this patch they fucked up balance so bad that only couple of the weapons were really doing any damage on higher lvls. Spawns/patrols were fucked for months. They even nerfed a fucking crossbow that 3 players used. And now, after months of silence they come up with a patch (again) that buffs everything (again) fixes some things (again) and breaks some things (again) just so they can fuck everything up (again) in upcoming patches.
@@rude_wredne I've played the game since day 1, I'm very familiar with what's happened. I highly doubt it will get as bad as it has been twice, but we'll see. That said, balancing will always happen. Some things will get nerfed, some things will get buffed, every patch. Always. Doesn't matter that it ain't pvp, I don't play much online pvp stuff. Balancing happens in PvE games too.
The game right now is in a nearly perfect spot - it's accessible, fun and engaging. However, you're right about game being too easy with a squad that knows their shit, what I would suggest for AH to do is to treat all those 10 difficulties as a "main dish" of Helldivers and focus on making next 5 difficulties harder and marke them as fully optional and even with a warning that *"this difficulty is reserved for most experienced Helldivers that search a REAL challange"*
I felt the same about the game. I love it so much that the nerfs and changes were alright for me. People were over reacting and feeding off each others hate but AH listened and took the right road to fix it. happy they fixed it.
Its way too easy to take down big enemies now. They are a joke now. They should feel intimidating and be of high concern Factory striders and Bile Titans should not be one shot by support weapons! Apart from the bile titan receiving a headshot from the spear. Otherwise no. Chargers are okay getting one shoted by recoiless riffle etc... Also, one or two thermite grenades for biles and factories are just... too strong too. One more maybe

With all the live service competition these days, at some point. One player needs to be able to have via options to survive hoards. the game is just actually so much fun, I don't think solo players should be totally disregarded. So its good to see these changes
The player count of this game which was sitting at around its lowest point yet before the update at around 16-18k players literally jumped up to 53k players the day this update came, and now is steadily hanging around 40k+ players, they literally doubled the player base with 1 update, but trust once broken will never be the same again, I doubt they could ever reach the golden days of 400k+ players ever again, but this is a great change in the right direction!
5:58 That's the Alpha Commander, they continuously spawn warrior if you leave them be, unlike the Brood Commander they only spawn either warrior or hiveguard once iirc

If I had still been playing and reached the flamethrower Nerf patch, I 100% would’ve quit on the spot because flamethrowers were my go to support weapon on difficulty 8/9 because of how effective it was against chargers, and I hate chargers with a fiery passion, no pun intended
It was just so irritating that our tools were getting less and less effective against enemies that were seemingly getting stronger each patch That I just stopped having fun
With you on that one. When the flame buff and pyro outfit came out I would non stop play with flame weapons. After the nerfs though, I never went back to the game. Thinking about going back now that things are fun again though

I love where the game is at. The bugs are a thousand times easier than bots though. That isn't really something that can be changed without a complete overhaul.
