I thought it comes with built in stereo speakers but couldn't see them in the teardown and I didn't hear you mention them in the review. Does it have built in speakers, if so how good is the quality?
I just purchased the BMAX B2 Pro Mini PC, Intel J4105 Quad Core CPU Up to 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 256GB SSD, 4K 60Hz HDMI 2.0x2, USB 3.0x4, USB 2.0, Micro SD Card Slot, 3.5mm Audio, M.2 2280 SSD Slot, 2.4/5GHz Dual Wi-Fi, BT 5.0, RJ45 1000Mbps Ethernet, Windows 11 Pro. I'll see how it preforms Thanks for the review.
The BMAX B1 Mini PC did not detect Transcend 256GB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 SSD:- The product specification of the PC mentions "Solid State Disk: Support 1* M.2 2280 SSD." And the Package List mentions 1 x SATA cable. However, the receipt package of the order specifically did not contain a SATA cable rather it contained a HDMI Cable in place of said SATA cable. Since, M.2 was designed to support SATA and also PCIe, so this raised a question in my mind in selecting an appropriate interface between SATA and PCIe. However, there is a M Key socket in the system board of the PC for the M.2 2280 SSD, so possibility of SATA interface is eliminated (at least in my case) considering almost all M.2 2280 SSDs with SATA interface mostly have B+M Key edges but I do not find such an SSD with SATA interface have M Key edge. Besides, all M Key edged M.2 2280 SSD's have PCIe interface, so there's only one possibility for a M key socket i.e. PCIe interface. Accordingly, I have purchased one Transcend 256GB NVMe PCIe Gen3x4 80mm M.2 SSD. But after insertion in the The BMAX B1 Mini PC socket, it does not detect Transcend 256GB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 SSD. I did not change the default BIOS setup of the PC and uncertain whether the BIOS at all needs any setup modification modification. So what may be the reason that the BMAX B1 Mini PC did not detect Transcend 256GB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4 SSD in my case?

Does anyone have any idea why the disk speeds on the 128GB M.2 drive are only topping out in the 500's? I would have expected over 3000. Are we dealing with a very slow M.2 drive, or are we limited in PCIe lanes? Also, are both M.2 slots identical in specification, such as lane usage?
I may have answered my own question. This unit has 2 m.2 slots. One is SATA based with a limit of 500+. The other is a PCIe based slot capable of 3000+. The 128GB M.2 card is installed in the slot labeled "SATA". No idea why! The video clearly shows the m.2 card in the "SATA" slot at 2:11. My unit arrives tomorrow. I will be plugging a nice Black Label WD m.2 drive into that PCIe slot with Win10 @ 3000+. Should provide 6x improvement in disk I/O. PS: Upon a closer look at the video at 2:11, I can clearly see that the 128GB M.2 drive is using the slower SATA based interface, utilizing a 2 notch M.2 connector. This interface only supports 550MB/s. The newer and faster NVMe based drives use a single notch M.2 connector, and can provide speeds up to 3500 MB/s. The SATA based M.e drive supplied, will be limited to 550MB/s, even if it were plugged into the PCIe based slot. The only way to fix this, is to throw a real PCIe based M.2 drive into the PCIe based slot, and put WIN10 on it. With that upgrade this thing will be lightening fast!
@@mazeeff how did it work for you? i have a brand new bmax b2 plus, and i installed a brand new 1tb sabrent rocket nvme m.2 2280 pcie. it did not detect it in the bios nor in windows.
@@theddygrumo I have two of the BMAX units. I upgraded both to PCIe based m.2 drives. I used a WD SN750 500G, as well as a Sabrent Rocket 256G drive. I had to change the sector size from 4K to 512 on the Sabrent to get my cloning software to work. I was also able to install fresh copies of Win10 on both drives as well. Unfortunately, the speed of the new drives was only double the existing SATA based m.2 drive, going from 500MB/s to 1000MB/s. Both of these PCIe m.2 drives get well over 3000MB/s on my desktop. HWINFO64 reports only 2x PCIe lanes available, instead of the normal 4x on my desktop. Looks like only 1 lane is being used on the BMAX. Overall, I'm still pretty impressed with this mini. PS: Make sure that the option in the BIOS; chipset/southbridge/m.2 m-key x2 is enabled. It should be enabled by default.
From Intel site: No results found for "J4115".
