i know this is just supposed to be a bit of fun but my hear breaks for people who've lost their luggage. i cant imagine not only the stress of loosing the worth of the items but sentimental things that cant be replaced. especially with those cultural clothes, they looked so intricate and beautiful and expensive and definitely looked like they were for an event. i hope somehow the owners of these suitcases are watching and they can be reunited with their stuff
I think the airport has to refund the value of the luggage and contents but yeah….the loss of all those things that you have picked and loved must SUCK.
I try to only do carryon but if I have to check a bag I NEVER pack anything that I would be devastated to lose…it just happens too often😢

Airports are like some of the most secure places in the world lol if someone wanted to make a business from this it’d be way easier and cheaper to fill suitcases with cheap thrift stuff.

Safiya Nygaard’s video on “lost” luggage is a very good vid to check out on this topic. Airlines seem to be pretty sketchy with checked luggage sometimes. I hope everyone who has lost luggage kept record of all things and value in the bag(s).
I have to say this is a very weird type of video to watch because it can be personal and invasive depending on the luggage contents.

@@scorpionqueen11 you have 30 days to pick up your lost luggage. A lot of the time people just never end up going back to get it within the allotted amount of time. In that case, it’s their loss others gain 🤷🏻♀️

If an airport lost my luggage and then sold it to other people for a lot of money, I would be *raging!* That is such an invasion of privacy - and it's basically stealing. The airport should try to return the suitcases to their owners and, if they can't do that, donate what can't be returned to charity stores/secondhand stores/thrift stores. They shouldn't profit off of other people's loses - loses they *cause* by misplacing their luggage - like this. It's absolutely disgusting.
In Germany the Airports keep the lost luggage for three month. If they can't find the Owner in that period of time it's totally legal to put it up for auction.
@@leagallego2840 I think it's great that they keep it for three months but I don't think it's right of them to auction it off, ever. They shouldn't make a profit off of other people's loses. Instead, the airport should donate it all to charity stores/secondhand stores/thrift stores.

All airports that I know of keeps them for a certain amount of time and will contact the owner if they can or wait for the owner to get it if they don’t it’s completely the airport property now and they can do wtv they want with it the same goes for storage units and other places

I recently travelled halfway across the world with my family and 8 checked suitcases. During each of my almost 10hr flights, all I could worry about was our luggage: someone stealing stuff inside the bags, the airline losing them etc. We were carrying our Diwali outfits and the artificial jewellery (wasn't expensive but no one likes to be stolen from) to go with it. Our bags didn't get lost but they looked opened and one of the locks was broken as in COMPLETELY ripped off the suitcase, and all I could think after travelling for 30 hours was that I lost things that meant a lot to me. Watching this video made me so sad for whoever owns the bags. Those Diwali outfits look expensive and might have meant a lot to the owner.

It is just the gloves changing color because of her sweat. I wore the same gloves in the lab and they always get yellow the longer you wear them.

As someone who's had their luggage lost, this infuriates me that airlines are selling them off. I was only able to claim what I had receipts for and suffered a huge financial loss.
No need to be mad about it in this case... In Germany you have months for getting your suitcase back so it's on the travellers...

What I wanted to add is there's a difference between a completely lost suitcase, which you (original comment) had, or a suitcase that is there, wasn't picked up for months and then sold. It's unfortunate, but not comparable.

The fact there's no chance of finding out their name, address, even really their home country from their bags reassures me that the airport really puts in effort to repatriate people's bags.
Also it makes sense to sell them to pay for all that effort to returns people's bags. And anyway someone else ends up with it anyway, whether it's given or sold.
The bags don’t seem to have any tags on the outside so maybe they were removed before giving them to people . If it had addresses on then it would be telling people their location 🤷♀️ some people just can’t afford going to the country to get the suitcase back sadly 😢

the second luggage is definitely from a person who traveled to Morocco because these "Kaftans" are traditional Moroccan dresses. I am from Morocco living in Germany, and I would be sooooo happy to get this second luggage, because I could wear these dresses to so many occasions 😍

The third one is definitely from a fellow Spaniard. The mosquito thing is from Hacendado or Bosque Verde (brands from a super famous supermarket). Flor de Mayo is also sold in said place and we tend to reuse Shein bags when travelling... Also I feel like I could have seen any of these bags in a "mercadillo'" 😂😂😂😂 so yeah, 100% has been in Spain

The clothes that you found in the second luggage are from Yemen, more specifically from Sana'a city, women wear it for photoshoots, festive events, and celebratory activities . It's a big part of fashion culture in Sana'a from back in the days untill today and it's very treasured by women and little girls for it's cultural value and beauty...that was a lot but I liked sharing what I know about it..

I think the 2nd suitcase is probably owned by someone North African. Maybe Morocco even? Some caftans here could cost from 150-200 euros to even 800-1000! I hope this helps!

She had probably already been reimbursed by the airline for her lost luggage and items.
Once you accept payment you’re contractually agreeing to relinquish your ownership claim to the luggage. Then the airline sells it to a 3rd part retailer (where Naomi bought it) to recoup some of their losses
these videos always break my heart, because my suitcase got lost on my last travel. Luckily i got it back three days later, but the pain i felt these three days when i thought it was gonna be lost forever was one of the worst types of pain i've ever felt :(((

Usually bc the airport has paid the customer for the lost luggage by the time they finally found it. Luggage can be lost for MONTHS. When the customer accepts payment they are relinquishing their ownership claim to the luggage…they can’t get paid and keep the luggage too.
The airport then sells it to a retailer to recoup some of their losses.
There's many potential reasons! Earlier this year I flew from Canada to Italy for 3 months and my checked bag was lost in the transit. It took them over a month to locate the bag and have it delivered to me in Rome. They say that if the bag is not found/claimed/delivered within a certain time frame that it is considered lost. I think the limit is 90 days or so? I definitely feared never having my bag returned and then seeing a TH-camr open it lol.

Normally those suitcases are getting packed by the company with random stuff that was found in lost suitcases. So it’s not the stuff from one person but stuff from different people. That’s why they have souvenirs from france, Venice, etc.
The last one looks like grandma ordered stuff for her grandkids she was going to visit, but then lost her luggage on the way there. Hence all the new things

I couldn’t watch this video :( it breaks my heart to know that someone bought those trinkets on a vacation that could have been special or the only one they’ve been on. If I would have lost my luggage coming back from teaching in China, I would’ve been so devastated and crushed.

The amount of relief that we get with Naomi's new vid notification is something else.
Safiya did a video on lost luggage and they do go through it. Technically they couldn’t sell hazardous materials to other people (anything with urine, fences, blood, or bodily fluids) So used underwear and soiled items can’t be spread around. I’m not sure of the rules outside of the US, but I would think they’re similar.
I actually was interested in the sizes of the items. Like what size shoe and what size the dresses were. Not to mention in relation to the owner, but out of curiosity to see if they bought items for others or if the size was consecutive.
this makes me so sad seeing all their souvenirs that they never got to bring home from their trip, and all the sentimental personal items that cant be replaced :( 😢 actually hated watching this lol it made me too sad 😢😢
