I had adult braces at age 25 and still had 2 baby teeth which were my fangs because the adult teeth grew on top but my baby teeth wouldn’t fall out. I had to have a chain in my mouth to drop down the teeth. The whole process took a year and a half - 2 years. I was insecure about getting them as an adult, but believe it or not people would actually tell me the braces complimented me and gave me a younger appearance.

Geez lads … On Aug 23 this year I was aged 51. Yep 51, born 1971 😅 On Aug 19th 2022 I got adult braces applied …, when my underbite & crooked teeth are somewhat right … in 12-14 months I will undergo DOUBLE JAW surgery. I’m soooo looking forward to getting my face fixed, and am already bitter over the life I’ve lived with a deformed jaw/ Hapsburg jawline. I’m so mad my case was less severe than the two latter cases and yet my treatment lasted ALMOST 3 years… but I guess it’s a case by case basis so I can’t compare, im just mad I had to graduate secondary school with them and go through uni with them😮💨

It is shifting as long as they’re still on. You aren’t going to specifically feel them move. I got mine 3 n half months ago. And the bottoms 2 weeks ago

36 years… had invisilign (do not recommend) for 1.5 years…. Didn’t work. When it fixed my spacing, my bite was thrown off. Finally, my ortho put regular braces on for about 1.5 years. Insisted that the plastic retainers work better than a holly retainer. I said okay. My teeth started to form a gap! Gave me a normal retainer and worked perfect, but feel like things weren’t perfect to begin with but the ortho insisted they were. Now I may have to get them put back on! 🤬 wish he’d just refund the money so I can find someone else.

I just got braces yesterday. Then when I went to bed I freaked out. I was like get this off me now! So it’s understandable and you’re not alone. I’m in pain today and can’t eat solid food 😫 hang in there! We can do this!! In the end it’ll be worth it!
You have already done the hard part by getting them started. Keep at it, it does get easier. I wore them twice and getting ready to start again at 66 yrs. Wear the retainer and you will not have future issues. Hang in there, you can do this!

I'm wearing a night guard on my metal braces. I was advised to use a night guard due to grinding. My Ortho molded me a silicone type of night guard. However, I couldn't close my mouth during my sleep, and drool a lot and when I wake up, I end up with a dry mouth. I was wondering if my night guard would also hinder the movement of my teeth?
In general teeth grinding doesn't affect braces too much - while in braces you can get bite pads placed on your teeth that keep your teeth separated and help to reduce the amount of wear you are putting on your teeth. Getting your teeth aligned and bite fixed can sometimes help to reduce your grinding as well. Plus, once you're finished with treatment you can get a nightguard to act as a retainer and to prevent grinding long term. Hope that helps!

It's difficult to say without seeing your teeth in person - but if you're doctor recommended having teeth extracted there was likely a good reason and you'll be happy with the result when you're finished :)
I freaking hate wearing braces. I hate all of the food that gets caught on them, the pain that’s associated with them, and so much more. I’m one yr into wearing mine with one yr. left Oh and I had an overbite, a little crowding on my bottom teeth, and has had 4 teeth extracted.

I still have huge gaps at the top where my teeth were removed, but the bottom gaps have closed. My orthodontist is going to start closing my top gaps next month. @@latrice1935 Hi Latrice, I’ve only had them for two months and my orthodontist is horrible I have an overbite on my top teeth and one extraction pulled it was a baby tooth over lapping an adult tooth and I had two fang teeth but they have moved quite a bit. and he says I need surgery but I’m not a fan of surgery so I will finish my two years with him and go somewhere else. To an orthodontist I can trust.

I have severe crossbite, chipped teeth and Ive been grind then down in my sleep for a decade easily..
Is permanent retainer is a great option for those who may have a hard time remembering to wear their retainer. 👍

26 going on my one week anniversary 😭
I'm wearing a night guard on my metal braces. I was advised to use a night guard due to grinding. My Ortho molded me a silicone type of night guard. However, I couldn't close my mouth during my sleep, and drool a lot and when I wake up, I end up with a dry mouth. I was wondering if my night guard would also hinder the movement of my teeth?
Just put a towel on your pillow and follow your orthodontists instructions man
After 6 month of wearing retainer still if i miss 24 hrs then i could see very slightly gap in front teeth .. how long should I wear
I have same problem. Did you found out how long retainer should be wear in this case?
You have to wear them at night befote bed for the rest off youre life.You can't go more than 24 hrs without wearing them.
How long to wear retainers in adult braces

Can you please make a video on teeth grinding and braces? I grind terribly and I'm terrified to get braces.
In general teeth grinding doesn't affect braces too much - while in braces you can get bite pads placed on your teeth that keep your teeth separated and help to reduce the amount of wear you are putting on your teeth.
Getting your teeth aligned and bite fixed can sometimes help to reduce your grinding as well. Plus, once you're finished with treatment you can get a nightguard to act as a retainer and to prevent grinding long term.

my gf said i grind my teeth in my sleep, but after a couple months on braces, she said i didn't do it anymore. it's probably my alignment and bite getting better now

Doc I am talking about me being 64 my two teeth are jutting out in the frount can it be fixed doc from a small girl I was anxious to put braces but b cos they said u have to remove 2 teeth I backed out of it that must have been in the yr t that was about in say 1973 so is it possible for it to be done now doc waiting to hear from u soon thank u

I am getting braces but want to know, can they reduce the length of my 2 front teeth? I know they can only file so much before it's unsafe but can the brace pull them back up closer to the gum? Tia
The braces will get them the proper length. It shouldn’t be necessary to reduce the length of the teeth 👍

It's difficult to say without seeing your teeth in person - but if you're doctor recommended having teeth extracted there was likely a good reason and you'll be happy with the result when you're finished :)

I freaking hate wearing braces. I hate all of the food that gets caught on them, the pain that’s associated with them, and so much more. I’m one yr into wearing mine with one yr. left Oh and I had an overbite, a little crowding on my bottom teeth, and has had 4 teeth extracted.

@@yolanda007 hi I'm a little over 2 years into wearing my braces. I had 4 teeth extracted at the earlier part of this year. I still have huge gaps at the top where my teeth were removed, but the bottom gaps have closed. My orthodontist is going to start closing my top gaps next month. My smile is coming together, but I still have a ways to go. Hope this helps.
@@latrice1935 Hi Latrice, I’ve only had them for two months and my orthodontist is horrible I have an overbite on my top teeth and one extraction pulled it was a baby tooth over lapping an adult tooth and I had two fang teeth but they have moved quite a bit. and he says I need surgery but I’m not a fan of surgery so I will finish my two years with him and go somewhere else. To an orthodontist I can trust.

I'm 38 and the ortho is estimating 2 years :(. It can be brutal at times. Ive got 2 teeth behind my front, so its going to take some time

Can you put braces if upper front teeth have laminates over them?
Yes, brackets can be bonded to porcelain. The bond strength is a bit weaker than natural tooth structure, but it still works.
