I just got braces today and was curious how my teeth would move through the jawbone. This video answered that perfectly and was interesting. I really had no idea that’s how it works
@@PremierOrthodontics Hey I am just 13 years old and am wondering if I can wear braces ? Do wearing braces in early age makes your teeth fall fast when you are old ?
Hi Dr. Your videos are very informative. I have a doubt here: Bone in the root zone of tooth moves but Does braces also moves the lower part of chin bone back while going for treatment in case of underbite?
Thank you, i was looking for this explanation on the parts of the braces and how they function. I watched several videos until i found this. Very informative
Thank you so much. I had Invisalign for a while and after this treatment, found that my lower teeth needed metal braces. (my top teeth are finished) Today is day two of metal braces and hopefully, this will solve the problem of my stubborn teeth! Thank you again for this great explanation of how braces work!
@@aarjab Im from Trinidad and Tobago, but if you're from the US i suggest going to mexico if you're looking to get them for less than $800 USD, then you can just pay an orthodontist in your country to do the adjustments
Hello! I have a question. So I have an overbite but not sure what to do. I don’t know if I should go to a regular dentist first or go straight to an orthodontist to get my braces right away or do I need to go to a dentist before going to an orthodontist?! Thank You!
I lost one bracket, and have two pokey wires at the end of upper and lower part. My next appointment though is in two weeks. Will the braces stop working then, moving teeth, with pokey wires?
I didn't understand how the bone affects the movement? If the tooth reaches one side of the bone, will it be created more space in the bone for the tooth to continue moving and can you tell me whether the bone affects the straightening of the tooth in such cases?
So I travel around a lot for work. Does that mean I couldn't get metal braces because I wouldn't be able to make regular check ups? Would invisalign make more sense? Thanks!
Yk there’s other things similar Bc a lot of ppl actually use Something like BYTE just at home so yea u can fix ur teeth at home look at options online and see what u like u can search braces at home or sum and it’ll pop up!! So yes it’s possible
Hi. I got my braces installed last month. At start it was very painful i couldnt chew anything. few days back i got the braces adjustment. The doctor told me it will hurt again for few days but i didnt felt any pain .Are my braces working proper or no ?
My Ortho said it's ok if twice a month in my adjustment... If I want that, as long as I can handle.. do you think it's ok. But for me after 2 weeks, the elasticity of chain is gone.. so I think it's ok.. even twice a month... Is it ok ?
I have a question, my teeth are open bite , my dentist pulled out 4 tooth( tooth extraction) and she said I pull the cinines first till they get close to Bicuspids , after that I will pull incisors by rubber My question is : is she doing right ? Or she should have pulled cinines and incisors together? Please answer dear doctor, I’m so stressed when I look at my teeth in the mirror
That is exactly how we usually do it as well. Canines first, and then we bring back the front 4 incisors as a group. Sounds like your doctor is doing things perfectly!
Hi! Question about the bone changing along with pulling teeth together. I had the tooth behind the bottom canine pulled to make space for crowded teeth and an underbite. My main problem other than listed above is bone loss from over brushing to the tune if 3/4 mm loss. Do you think bone could potentially be improved as the teeth shift? Thank so much.
The bone height usually stays pretty consistent with orthodontic treatment. Most of the time you won't see much change even with retraction of the teeth into extraction spaces. In order to regain bone you will often need to do some type of bone grafting surgery. This may not be necessary for your case and you may be able to maintain your current bone level and have healthy teeth. Definitely ask your doctor, and they may recommend some additional procedures to help with regaining bone after braces if they feel it is necessary. Hope that helps!
1:26 You said the wires would start to pull the teeth in their right positions, can they push them inwards too? Like if the the teeth of one side are more to the outer side then usual.

Did it hurt?
I had class2 div2. Got bimax with clockwise rotation last year. Much better now!
I just got my first braces put into today. This was very informative. I like the pictures as a guide 🙂👍
Do your gums had to be drilled to correct the bite or is it only for special cases?
Next month will be 5 years...
This was so informative! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Great job doc I just got braces yesterday this was by far one of the best videos I've watched. Easy to follow straight to the points thanks
What should you do if a bracket is loose?
Give your orthodontic office a call and they should be able to help you out 👍

You can schedule a consultation with an orthodontist yourself if you’re interested in braces. You don’t need a referral from your dentist 👍
Thank you, very helpful explanation.

They will probably be set back a bit, but if most of them are good, i think its not that big of a deal?
What should I do if im in pain I just got them and they hurt so so much like I can’t sleep
I understood that it moves but how does dentist make it move in a specific direction or rotates it?
My guess is by the way they sticks the brackets?
One of brackets are loose in the back and it’s only day 2 🤦🏾♂️

Does it work the same in adults?
It's my 4th day since I got my brace. So far its alright. The only part that s annoying is the bracket scratching my cheek 😒

Is my child 8 too young for braces?
If they have some adult teeth or any bite issues they may be ready for a phase 1 braces! Hope this helps!
