I agree! I don't need everything to be perfectly curated and of the right style, I first want it to mean something. And I love having things out so I can see them.
I found out that you can have primer tinted. It is a game changer and a money saver. Tinted primer, one full coat and a touch up coat and I turned a room from pale yellow to dark navy. Some places also sell a dark gray primer.
Hot tip for painting light walls a dark color: paint a coat of dark tinted primer before painting with the actual color. Most places sell premade dark primer, or you can have it tinted just like a bucket of paint. Get the darkest primer you can and it will drastically cut back on coats of paint.
Your room is fabulous, I love all the personal touches. I'm glad that you said at the end you will add window treatments, it is really calling out for that.
100% it is. I just can't figure out what color I want. I'm almost thinking a lighter shade of green so they don't super stand out, but I can't decide!!
@@KatieMakesStuffMaybe a rich gold damask? Or textured olive-green? Room looks great. Interesting hope the wall colour throws different tones depending on the light.
I've recently used a automatic center punch to take out one way screws. You could give that a try, but I'd say wear gloves if you try it, in case it slips. Love the vibes of the new room!
Very nice! This dark academia-ish vibe is exactly what I like. And I also love that you have incorporated little meaningful trinkets into the whole project. That's something I also do in my projects. 😀 When I first moved into my apartment I painted my living room in phthalo green which looked super good and classy, unfortunately the room is north oriented and it was definitely too dark during... huh always. So I had to change it and compromised on a medium sage green. Now the vibes are more light academia, which is fine for now.
This is also a north facing room but I figured it's dark no matter what so may as well lean into it. But if it were my main living area I may not have gone this dark
nice! have you considered a curtain between the two rooms? i have one with the rod hung from the ceiling, so the curtain looks lavish and as if it were meant to be there. you can use a dark fabric on that side, and line the back with a fabric that goes with the lighter room.
Ok, love the room, decor is amazing and really cosy. Do need to ask how long did you procrastinate for in getting started 😅. And where is the doggo crate now ? Stay well and great to see posting again ❤
I worked through the idea in my brain for WEEKS before telling my husband, then spent another few weeks actually planning (figuring out the style, paint color, furniture, etc). Once I got the room painted and the furniture moved in, I left it alone for probably 2 months gathering the decor pieces. so in total, probably 6 months from start to where it is right now
You are so good at this! You spend less than anyone else and it looks so expensive and beautiful, I have a whole house you can transform if you want?! Xx
wow - looks fantastic! I thought the green wall paint would be much lighter but its not! excellent space and its so cozy!
And it changes throughout the day and in different lighting. It's really a great color!
It's a beautiful room and I love love love the sentimental touches. So many homes on the internet seem sterile and they lack memories and warmth.

I loved your transformation! Dark academia is such a cozy, mysterious, comforting vibe. It’s in my house too. ❤
I agree! I don't want all of my rooms to feel like caves, but at least one is a necessity at this point
Beautiful room! Love your collection of books. The dark paint is dreamy and dark. Great transformation!
I love that green too. It took me three coats to cry uncle and say it was good enough. Honestly, should have done four coats.
I think I went with 3 on top and 4 below the chair rail. But the top was already a light green so I think that helped a lot.

Looks really nice. And I love that it’s filled with family mementos!
Me too! It just makes it feel a little more special

The top half was pretty easy because it was already green, but I should've gotten tinted primer for the chair rail and below
Oh my! That room turned out lovely!❤
Oh and those chairs rock
I love them! But they're going to be chilly in the winter 🥶

@@KatieMakesStuffI think the color of your leather chairs. A print would be nice since everything is solid

I'll have to look into this because they HAVE to come out. I will not be bested by this block of wood!
Moody lovely 🖤
