You are a goddess for taking the time not only to include a ton of great links, but to ensure that the links have size-inclusive options. Bless you, Hannah.
Indeed, but I was disappointed to see Cos doesn’t have a size 0, or smaller. Many brands have vanity-sized up so the very petite cannot buy anything small enough.
There is nothing quite like the fit and feel of an excellently made and proportioned t-shirt. Are you going boating? are you going to walk in a field of wildflowers? are you adding a smart jacket and wowing the dinner crowd? are you hooking a basket on your arm and picking vegetables or going to the farmer's market? are you just vegging with a good book and pie? YES, obviously. Small aside: Sometimes a t-shirt hung to dry on a hanger can, over time, stretch it to change the shape of the neck as well as how the shoulder seams fall. Even sturdy cotton. I found either clipping the shirt to the hanger at the shoulders, or turning it to hang clipped from the waist hem, resolves this. Or just use a drying rack or the back of a chair lol.
I love the idea of having a really paired down and simplistic wardrobe. The idea of loving every garment I own, being comfortable in everything I own, and having fewer choices when getting dressed and packing for trips is so appealing to me. The one weird hangup I need to get over is other people perceiving that I wear the same thing over and over. I don’t know where that comes from and I why I even care. If I have a dress that is comfortable, flattering, and very “me,” why should I care if other people notice that I wear it to every single event?
I had this hang up too. When I was on a tight budget last summer I alternated between 3 work appropriate tops. I don’t think anyone noticed and certainly no one mentioned it. I now feel more confident having a tiny wardrobe of my favorite things.
Tell people you're being European! French? They tend to have fewer, more beautiful things (although fast fashion has made inroads) -- and smaller places/less storage. And, sorry to be blunt, but most people don't notice or care. They're too inside their own heads. And if they do care, that's their problem. If Kate Middleton can wear the same shoes, and she's a princess, you can wear the same dress. Good luck!
Absolutely, these are all thrift-able items and then you can feel the fabric and make sure the cut works for your body. For the shirts and pants, please also check the men's section! I got $8 pants from men's section that look identical to the Cos ones! I would also add, learn what color white is your white (stark white, ivory, cream spectrum). Your style doesn't need to be 'timeless' to find these pieces last the test of time because they are versatile in my opinion.
LlBean “The Saturday Tee” is great. It’s well made, sturdy and hangs well. It comes in plus sizes too, a few colors and short or 3/4 sleeves. It is slightly shorter, which I love.
Can you do a video on clothing care? I feel my best in white, but making sure it stays white feels impossible, particularly sweat stains. But I also never grew up with clothing that requires particular cleaning - hand wash, hang to dry, etc. so it seems so incredibly daunting to me!
Okay so when can we get a breakdown of your mother's hippie wardrobe?! I am absolutely here for it! As always, super thoughtful and helpful tips, thank you!
Me too, I love my Italian grandmother, she didn't have many clothes and certainly not designer clothes so no logos and not super-expensive, but timeless tailored pieces, I so wish I had asked my auntie for one of my grandma's blouses or scarf when she died, too late now. By the way, wearing tailored clothes helped her maintain her relatively slim weight, as loose, elasticated waistbands encourage overeating. To this day I tend to avoid stretchy, generous clothes that do not signal when I've eaten too much, so I'd rather wear at least one of these: jeans, skirts, blouses, something fitted that I would not be able to wear again if I overindulged.
Ha !! I was literally JUST playing around in my closet to find ideas for my summer wardrobe and to see if there was anything missing. I just finished making adjustments to some of my t shirts and as I was cleaning up, my eye was caught by my husbands vast collection of short sleeve button up shirts. Now, it helps that we suit the same colours here … anyhow I tried one on and was like, DAMN! How was this not obvious to me before ?!?! I adore a good button up shirt and I have never considered a button up short sleeve for summer. Which will be such an easy find at the thrift store. How awesome that I came down for my lunch and here was this video waiting for me !! And, yes. I love loose tailored pants but I don’t have any that are lighter weight for warmer weather. Those two items will seal my summer wardrobe. I almost always wear men’s pants so this will also be an easy find at the thrift store. And they will last me for years. I know I won’t get tired of them because they are just a different version of what I wear all the time already. Sometimes the obvious just isn’t obvious to me. Also, you featured a scarf in one of the jewelry shots and that is something I am currently obsessed with. Silk neckerchiefs. Again, something that should be easy to find second hand. Delightful and inspiring as always, Hannah ❤
I have a Quince crew neck cream cotton sweater that I wear all four seasons and a Quince leather jacket that I wear alone or with a trench coat for Spring and Fall. Really nice quality for the price.
The body diversity here is the one that has that je ne sais quoi. The espiritu hauraches have been on my wish list for about a year and I plan to buy them when we roll over into May. Also as a large person, I second Eileen Fisher. I hesitated for year because 1- cost 2- I was fearful that on my larger body they would read older than I am. But let me tell you. A sneaker changes everything.
I have been buying pieces from Quince and they are sooooo good!! All natural fabrics in timeless styles. The quality for the price is excellent. I have purchased pieces for three times the price and Quince is equal in construction to them.
Thank you for finally convincing me that it’s ok to spend real money to purchase a good white t-shirt. Last summer I spent a lot of money buying several mediocre versions, which never were truly satisfying.
I can vouch for the Quince leather products. The maroon biker jacket is FANTASTIC. Shifts eggplant to red to brown and is like butter. Well made, solid hardware. I've got my eye on the bomber, so that'll be a future investment. Sturdy forever piece.
These are the pieces my wardrobe needs (except a leather jacket) but all black versions. Thank you for the huarache reminder! My mother also always had pairs when I was growing up. I actually had a pair from justfab many years ago, but as expected, they didn't hold up for very long.
I just got fabric to make a purse that will go with most of my wardrobe. Plus, I can measure to have as many pockets as I need, at just the right sizes.
To add to the t-shirt fabric conversation, may I humbly suggest adding bamboo to the list. All my t-shirts are 70% bamboo / 30% cotton from the brand Jerico and they are the best t-shirts I have ever owned. Soft, comfortable, and they last forever.
I would also add some turtleneck basics and a straight leg cotton or linen pant (not wide or tapered). They also tend to be more neutral in style and eternal. I like ones with elastic bands, it makes them very flexible also for weight fluctuations or bloating. Also wrap tops. Anything properly tailored to your body will be absolutely timeless.
Bless you! I’m about two years post partum and needing some new items since my body is just never going to be the same but also keeps changing - thanks for your thought work and solid recommendations ! Also I love your style❤
Looove this video. I’m moving (AGAIN) so I’m decluttering a bunch and realizing how unhappy I am with my current wardrobe. I have soooo many beautiful special pieces that I never use and a lot of super worn out overly casual basics that I’m decluttering. I’m really lacking high quality basics that can be the backbone to my special pieces. My dream self would love to saunter around in beautiful caftans and long skirts all the time but my practical self needs some structure too.
Blessings upon you for taking the time to find options that are available in extended sizing and adding that info to the description. You have no idea how much that means to those of us who are used to getting our hopes up, tapping a link, and realizing we can't fit in anything the company offers. Thank you for saving me from the mental angst!
This totally isn't meant as hate (because this is my favourite channel to turn on when I'm getting ready), but I low key miss the other intro. It got me more in the mood to hear about beautiful things. Also, I feel like the new intro isn't on par with the rest of your channel, quality or aesthetics in mind. You speak so well, the videos are filmed in such a high quality, the editing is always so crisp, the background looks like a frame from AD, but the new intro looks like a power point presentation for high school. I'll watch every video, bad intro or not, I just wanted to give an opinion as a longtime viewer!
Love, love, love this. Thanks for making content that supports a more sustainable way of living. Since I started buying fewer, higher quality classic items of clothing, it has reduced my stress so much. Slow fashion has meant that I am not constantly replacing clothing designed to wear out, and getting out of that cycle has been such a relief.
When I was in college/in my early twenties in the late nineties/early aughts, there was an absolute dearth of boxy tees and true wide-leg (not boot-cut) pants. It was a true wardrobe STRUGGLE for me 😂. So now that they’re available everywhere, I’m basically hoarding “Katherine Hepburn pants” as I think of them and T-shirts that aren’t stretchy and skin-tight. The kids don’t know how lucky they are! 😂❤
I have had a couple basics from Buck Mason for a few months now & they are my new favorite brand for MY timeless basics - they hit my personal style sweet spot. I love the brands you shared and will be back-pocketing them for when I need basic replacements, sharing this one as well for anyone else looking for more places that sell wonderful basics!
Thank you so much for mentioning the need for a 'backbone' for jewelry!! I absolutely needed this little tidbit because I have so many statement pieces but nothing for everyday. I have tiny sleeper hoops I got from the drug store but they aren't pretty, there is nothing special about them. I think investing in some really nice "normal" everyday earrings is exactly what I need!
I’ve really been enjoying your videos over the last few months. Even though our styles are different, I’ve really been drawn to your content because of your focus on finding beauty and excitement in quality and pieces that fit your lifestyle. I’ve found great leather jackets while thrifting. I have a super soft classic tailored style that often replaces a blazer in my outfits and a long knee length one that I use in place of a traditional trench. On a side note, the hua- in huarache is pronounced as “wa”. I feel like these comments always sound pretentious but I’m just mentioning in case you cared to know.
Thrifted the single most perfect pair of loose wool trousers while on vacation last week - pro tip: they were originally mens! But they look just like your inspo 🎉 Currently wearing them as part of a power outfit with an (also thrifted) silk top to give a presentation tonight 💪💪
I can't express enough how much I appreciate all the pictures you include. I get so inspired by all the different people who make personal style feel attainable. Great video. Love from Sweden!
I have always cared bout how I look and how I dress. HOWEVER, your videos have really changed the way I dress and shop and attempt to present myself in the world. Your fashion videos are always thought provoking and I really appreciate them and you!
Love the video- as I get older I can feel unsure of what to wear… I still want to feel stylish, but not wear anything that ages me more than I am! Also- I absolutely love the makeup you’re wearing here too, would love your minimal/daily routine products and application!
Love this video! I saw something on Instagram that said that bottoms seem to go through trends more versus tops (shirts and jackets). The shape of shirts and jackets doesn't change as much with trends as bottoms do (thing skinny jeans, cropped jeans, etc).
Finally got Glossier cloud paint in Swept and I love it. Think it will work well for other seasons too, Have put away MUFE bronzer in marvelous peanut (it's gray, powder) and chanel in deep, which I saw Hung Vanngo apply to a pale person. I may pull them back out again because sometimes I like a little bronze with a little blood red blush. But Swept is an amazing, unassuming color.
for all of my Ozma raw silk pieces (including the Sunset pant) I wash them in the washing machine with cold water on the gentle cycle, then I gently stretch/shape them while they are wet and hang them up to dry. With the shirts I don't worry so much about stretching--the water causes them to seize up a little bit but they relax as they dry and still fit great. With the pants, if I don't stretch them lengthwise while they're wet, they fit shorter after they dry, so I always try to remember to do that.
My love affair with huaraches comes from my Mom too. She started wearing them in her early 20s, and even in her 80s would say how great she felt wearing them on a summer day with a ‘broom skirt’ and a peasant top. They’re a classic to me, and I was thrilled to finally find a quality pair from Nisolo last year.
I agree! I've been wearing loose tailored pants for ever now and I'm thrilled to know that for once I'm being true to self but also on trend! Feels like being both simultaneously is beyond rare for me. And you're right. Those sandals are amazing. I have Nisolo's in a basic warm brown shade and I wear them ALL SUMMER LONG! They're incredibly comfortable. I've been searching for the right tee for years now. I've waisted HUNDREDS of dollars searching over the years... So thank you for posting a few you love. :)
I cleared out my closet yesterday, switching to my summer clothes and purged 5 trash bags of clothing that I still need to photograph and sell. I'm so sick of how many clothes I own. None of them have bad quality, but some I don't fit anymore and some are just not my style and I shouldn't have bought in the first place. I'm not buying anything this summer. What I need is outfit formulas to shop my closet with.
The Cos clean cut t-shirt has become a major staple, thanks to your recommendation! We're the same age and have a similar aesthetic, so I really appreciated this video.
My heart sings when you do style videos as no one shows the wide variety of body shapes, colors, and gender like you do. It's so all inclusive it's beyond crazy good. I watch other channels about fashion and I can't see myself in what they are promoting as most of the time they only show run way models wearing the style they are talking about and I no longer purchase for my fantasy self, in part thanks to another video of yours. ;-) Thanks for being you and bringing us such high quality content for such conceptional things!
Just came across your channel today and I love how you show all ages, all sizes, when you’re suggesting something! This is much appreciated, coming from a 50 yr old, short, boxy woman😂❤️
LOVE the new graphics!! Maybe it was just because they're new, or maybe it's because they're a little busier than the old ones, but I would have loved a split second longer to process them before they faded out again. Also, I always do but I SO appreciate the gender diversity (and all kinds of diversity) in the models you highlight. It's rough out here trying to figure out a masc style that's not boring!!
New to channel but love your videos. Ive never been a shopper (as in actively despise shopping for clothes) because i feel like nothing ever fits right or i dont like buying things that will fall apart, but i genuinely do not know where to find high quality clothes that are affordable.. so thank you for the ideas!
Immaculate examples and advice as always. These videos always have little echoes of my own approach but mostly give me a whole bunch of new ideas to consider. 💛✨
I love the fashion content videos. Leather huarache sandals stretch a little bit & mold to your feet after wearing them for a little while. When I've purchased huaraches that are too small, I wet the shoes & then wear them so they can mold to my feet. This will make the leather softer. I did a quick google search & some people recommend wetting a towel & putting the towel in the huaraches overnight.
I’ve tried to find my correct size in those Nisolo huaraches multiple times and I had to return all of them. There seems to be a lot of variation in size from one pair to the next. Plus, the heel portion is still and I could tell it would rub my ankle. Very disappointing because they are exactly what I have been wanting!
When it comes to crew neck tops (t-shirts, sweaters, etc.) the scoop around the neck needs to be just right, imo when it's too tight around the neck it's off-balance, almost looks like it's chocking you so I don't buy it, it needs to be a bit generous to show off the base of the neck and part of the clavicle which is a sexy part of the body.
Hannah, you're a genius as usual. 😘 Everyone's going on about structured tees but I just can't wear anything structured on my skin, it makes me feel so strained. (Took me decades to figure out why I loved the look of crisp white shirts but hated wearing them.) Linen though! 😍 OMG! Somehow I always end up tearing holes in them, probably with zippers and jewelry, but I gladly replace them because linen tees are such a cool piece that works with any style!
I just CAN'T with the long loose tailored pants. I don't ever wear high-heeled shoes, so the hems would forever be slogging through dirt, dust, water, etc. How do folx keep them looking nice?
I agree. I have short thick legs and refuse to wear heels, which would be the only way those pants could possibly work. And even then will not be flattering for my body type. So just no.
I love that you mention Eileen Fisher. Most of my wardrobe is from EF. I am constantly checking the companies you recommend but they are mostly NOT size inclusive - at least, not my size. When I was younger I would wear the loose tailored trousers ... now nothing is really that loose around the waist ... 😒
I've never owned a pair of huaraches in my life but have become slightly obsessed with them lately. This video makes me super glad I am not the one currently doing No Shopping Behaviors ;)
I'm looking for a flexible shoe for spring/summer to wear to work AND THEN YOU SHOWED HUARACHES oh. Oh that is exactly what I needed! My combat boots aren't going to fit the needs of spring/summer weather 😅Thanks, Hannah!
Hi, Hannah! I want to say that I love your style vids, even when I don’t vibe with some of your specific talking points. (I just can’t with button down shirts, slacks or most white tees-too many years of Catholic school uniforms have kind of poisoned those articles of clothing for me 😭🫠) It’s because 1) you showcase models of all sizes and ages and 2) you emphasize buying with longevity and versatility in mind.

The one weird hangup I need to get over is other people perceiving that I wear the same thing over and over. I don’t know where that comes from and I why I even care. If I have a dress that is comfortable, flattering, and very “me,” why should I care if other people notice that I wear it to every single event?
Just call it a "signature piece"! #brandingiseverything
@@KatBula I like the way you think
"Simplistic" isn't a fancy way of saying "simple" -- it has a negative meaning that something has been reduced TOO much. It is not a positive term.
I feel the same way! The book Laundry Love has helped me SO much with this.
I feel the same way!
Okay so when can we get a breakdown of your mother's hippie wardrobe?! I am absolutely here for it!
As always, super thoughtful and helpful tips, thank you!
I always channel my grandmother when I look at trends. She was such an advocate of classic, timeless pieces made of quality material. Thank you.
I have thrifted many a cotton and linen shirt. I have quite the collection!
Same here.
I hesitated for year because
1- cost
2- I was fearful that on my larger body they would read older than I am.
Love nisolo shoes! So ethical, so well made and timeless. Got their platform sandals and they are simply the best summer shoe.
i've just been thinking a lot about giving my wardrobe a serious refresh, your timing is impeccable!
These are the pieces my wardrobe needs (except a leather jacket) but all black versions. Thank you for the huarache reminder! My mother also always had pairs when I was growing up. I actually had a pair from justfab many years ago, but as expected, they didn't hold up for very long.
Kowtow also has really great timeless t shrits. I believe they use fairtrade cotton as well
I just got fabric to make a purse that will go with most of my wardrobe.
Thank you for demystifying Quince! When the prices seem so reasonable it’s hard to tell whether they would be quality items.
Thank you for showing pictures of different kinds of bodies!!
Bless you! I’m about two years post partum and needing some new items since my body is just never going to be the same but also keeps changing - thanks for your thought work and solid recommendations ! Also I love your style❤
Loooove how you include models of all forms and sizes
I just purchased a made-for-me pair of loose tailored pants from Linen Fox. They are beautiful and worth the wait.
Any ideas for V neck tees? I find that neckline to be most flattering on me…
Love, love, love this. Thanks for making content that supports a more sustainable way of living. Since I started buying fewer, higher quality classic items of clothing, it has reduced my stress so much. Slow fashion has meant that I am not constantly replacing clothing designed to wear out, and getting out of that cycle has been such a relief.
Fantastic content, please make this a series ❤
I love the opening, whether it's a replacement of the other one or not. I still love your other opening art ❤
The new intro is do elegant and so YOU. Love it.
Your video made my day ! I have never clicked on anything quicker !! Love you hannah 💓!
Thrifted the single most perfect pair of loose wool trousers while on vacation last week - pro tip: they were originally mens! But they look just like your inspo 🎉
Currently wearing them as part of a power outfit with an (also thrifted) silk top to give a presentation tonight 💪💪
I'm always happy to see Posh Heat as one of your style examples.
I have the Nisolo huaraches and I love them! They are headed into Summer #3 and still perfect.
I have been eyeing up those Hurrache sandals from Nisolo too 😍
My God, what you said about huraches! I'm 57 and my mom is 93, the ONLY fashion overlap we have ever had are huraches! I died when you said that :)
Wow! A new intro! I am shook!
I love linen knit tees, I have several: white, tan, cognac, navy, black, and a white/tan stripe.
Love this video! I saw something on Instagram that said that bottoms seem to go through trends more versus tops (shirts and jackets). The shape of shirts and jackets doesn't change as much with trends as bottoms do (thing skinny jeans, cropped jeans, etc).
I have one of the Quince leather jackets and it is excellent!!
I love my leather jacket from quince, I’ve had it for about a year, it’s magnificent and I live in it.
Could you say more about how you wash your Ozma silk tees?
for all of my Ozma raw silk pieces (including the Sunset pant) I wash them in the washing machine with cold water on the gentle cycle, then I gently stretch/shape them while they are wet and hang them up to dry.
Gotta love a Nick Lewis shout out.
I’m enjoying the options, different skin tones and body types.
Brilliant and perfect timing! I’m in dire need of a wardrobe refresh. ❤❤❤
Love the new intro!!! #3 is my everything and for once I’m thrilled it’s come around in trend bc I will be pillaging the thrift store.
I own similar timeless pieces and will enjoy wearing them all the more this season since you make them feel so appealing.
Love love love Nisolo! I own 4 pairs of Nisolo shoes and love them so much. And the Huaraches have been on my wishlist for a long time. 👀
Love the new intro! Thank you for sharing! This was helpful as always
I love those Nisolo sandals and I had the exact same issue with size. Not sure why they recommend sizing down. The exchange process was very easy!
Just starting the video but ooh love the new intro! So chic!
Immaculate examples and advice as always. These videos always have little echoes of my own approach but mostly give me a whole bunch of new ideas to consider. 💛✨
I like Quince, I have a v neck sweater from them and a slip dress. I am in the market for a long sleeve tee but it is hard to find a quality one.
omg i love nick lewis! great way to apply it to your niche hannah ❤
Edited to add the heel portion was stiff
When it comes to crew neck tops (t-shirts, sweaters, etc.) the scoop around the neck needs to be just right, imo when it's too tight around the neck it's off-balance, almost looks like it's chocking you so I don't buy it, it needs to be a bit generous to show off the base of the neck and part of the clavicle which is a sexy part of the body.
Love the intro…. Would love the picture of your book to show the title w/ your name… for those that might not know ❤🎉
Hannah, you're a genius as usual.
They hem them?
Thanks, Hannah, for this content. Always enjoyable & applicable...❤
Ooooo peep that Julia Hungry imagery in the new intro 🥰 so pretty!!
I had a pair of similar Huaraches back in the 80s! They were silver though.
