As someone who values practicality and avoids vanity, I struggle with fashion. This video has completely shifted my view of getting dressed. If I start with how I feel/practical parameters (OR SHOES!!!) I can dress for myself without feeling like I'm using fashion as a facade. THANK YOU!!!!!!
I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I read your comment and wanted to answer. I consider practical matters TOO much. So much that THAT is why I use forever getting dressed.🙈 Too practical.
Was that an answer to me? I might have phrased myself badly. I just have trouble deciding because of sensory issues. Sorry if it came out wrong. My first language is not english, so I sometimes phrase myself badly. I don't really care what everyone else think about my clothes.
@@bianca5873Wow that's super interesting to hear you call that imposter syndrome. I want to dress well and look nice, and I sometimes buy feminine pieces or striking pieces. But when I put them on, it feels so wrong. I think it is like some kind of imposter syndrome. Like - no one would ever think of you as feminine, why are you even trying. But then when I try to wear androgynous or masculine styles, that feels unflattering and I feel invisible. I'm going to have to contemplate your comment. 🤔
I really love the cut scene of you researching how to say "aplomb." I love knowing that other people have vocabularies that include words they've seen written way more than heard said!
Exactly how I feel too , the way she talks grabbed my attention from the first time I watched her , she explains a lot of things I feel but don't understand & she made me think differently about everything ✨️
The best thing I did was accept what my lifestyle actually was. I was no longer just me and able to primp to my 1950s chosen aesthetic anymore, I am a mother to a young disabled child and that’s a whole different physical level throughout the day than the standard. I still wanted to be in dresses all the time so I switched to oversized long sleeves and skirted dresses that are easy to throw on, feel immediately put together despite only having about two minutes to myself and if they get dirty I can slip off and change without my whole look being disjointed.
Life throws us crises and sometimes we have to change our lives and our clothing. It’s happened to me; I gifted my bff with a capsule office attire wardrobe and bought a new wardrobe. To match my life
I was not sure I could relate to this video at the start. I am 53yrs old. I am so glad I kept watching. I have been a jeans and t-shirt girl my entire life. I am now attending church once a week. I would like to step it up a bit, but am not ready to go "dressy". I think this approach will work even as I shop for something to wear. It was very simple to understand-no color theory, or knowing which season you are, just 4 steps. I think even I can handle it. Thanks. I really am grateful for this advice.
Hi Hannah! I'm neurodivergent and these tips were so helpful for days where I get overwhelmed or can't do simple tasks like getting dressed. This has guided me through tough days and I'm so thankful, even if that wasn't the intention of the video. So thank you so, so much! If you aren't a morning person. Plan your outfit (and pull all the pieces) the night before, so you can look put together even if you aren't fully awake yet.
Agree, that's basic time management, though. I'd be late for work if I didn't plan out my outfit the night before. Hannah's lessons go beyond time management. It's self management. Tuning in to your inner. For the sake of feeling You.
I've tried this (as a non morning person) I'm also a moody person and what seemed like a good idea the night before, isn't something that "feels right" in the morning. Edit: Usually I pick out at least 2 outfits the night before. Or at least, I try to do this to save time and aggrivation.
I have to do this otherwise I look like a mess. I’m up and out the door in 15 minutes there’s no time for anything extra. I bearly get to make coffee (it brews while I brush my teeth)
Hannah, this is a brilliant process! I sat here watching in a stained old white tee and no shoes…. So I reverse engineered the process and diagnosed what my outfit says about me today. Adjective: lazy. Star: soft old striped knit maxi skirt. Balance? There ain’t none. So, no wonder I feel sad and lazy today. Gonna strip and reroll this day! Adjective: Transformation! Will see where that takes me! 🌞🌞🌞

In every one of your videos I say to myself “god I love her” at least once but usually more. The things you say are always so interesting to me. In this video I loved that you said you wanted to feel spry, that’s just hilarious and I love it. I know you bring similar joy to MANY other people just by sharing yourself with us.
I subscribed bc I NEEDED fashion conversations like this. I am so tired of the same old fashion/style content and advice on current trends, as well as being tired of the same aesthetic, that I found this video and YOU so refreshing! Thank you! Also, I’m sad there isn’t more fashion stuff on your channel, because I’m not into makeup, BUT I like you and I’ll stay a subscriber in hopes you’ll do more of this ❤
I really appreciate your fashion content. We have drastically different bodies (I am short & fat, with a long torso) and the way you approach styling never feels exclusionary, or aimed at only one body type--it always feels intentional & thoughtful. You made a video a while back about a pair of jeans, and it completely shifted the way I was able to think about pants, as up until then I was convinced that "pants didn't work for me," when what was really happening was that I wasn't considering what I actually wanted & needed out of a pair of pants. You know what I like about this? Asking yourself how you want to feel frequently will inform your shopping decisions too. I often want to feel badass, but as I thought about it watching this, I only have a few things that truly bring me that feeling, so I wear them a lot. To avoid outfit repeating I could go shopping with “badass” in mind and see what I can find :) thanks for the inspo!
Yes! I am a HUGE proponent of choosing shoes first… especially living in New England where the weather and lack of sidewalks dictates our lives from the ankles down. ❤ so glad to have found this channel. Grateful to hear someone remembering that how we feel in our clothes is truly what style is about. Thank you!
I have to say, while I’m really not a fan of your style (just not my thing tbh), your tips and advice are super practical and helpful! And I can tell you’re confident and comfortable in your style, which is a big deal. Thanks for sharing your fashion tips. They’re very useful ❤️
You manage to combine absolute practicality with High Whimsy (said like High Fantasy, i.e: whimsy, but make it sophisticated as well as playful) And for that, this video is a gem. Thank you, Hannah.
I love that you have a "How do I want to feel" step in your system. I think that how you want to feel is such an important part of expressing yourself through fashion.
Came here for your no-buy content and stayed for the constant value you provide on all your videos. This is a great example of really value-packed content creation, thank you! 😊
Every Sunday, I chose everything I am going wear for the week. I make sure that everything is ironed, hemmed etc. My choices are based on my nail color (changed every week) so there is a color story. Everthing is layed out from my handbag and jewelry. I like sleeping too much to waste time trying to find my clothes every day.
I do this even down to my undies & socks! (I hang it all up on a specific hanger, one for every day of the week) Great tips for those of us who aren't morning people (or literally have to get dressed in the dark, lol)
I just love that you're diving more into fashion lately, Hannah! I hope you continue in this direction. I would love to see videos of you just putting together outfits and narrating your thought process.
About to start the video. Hannah I completed a no buy year. Thank you for helping me from getting into debt over beautiful things. I had decided that when I made it I would buy a Polene bag. THE Polene bag. I fell in love with it the moment you showed it on video, and for year I told myself I couldn't afford it, while spending the same if not more than its price tag over smaller orders over the course of a single month. I found a used one (the person got it as a gift and didn't like it, they never used it), explained the situation and on October 1st I'm gonna get it. My first quality over quantity choice. I hope it's gonna be a lighthouse for my consumerism ship, guiding me. Thank you
I love how intuitive this approach is. What a beautiful way to start the day! I live with chronic illness, and it can be really easy to avoid getting dressed at all. Often I find myself wearing my pajama bottoms with some sort of top. But I have so many beautiful clothes just hanging in my closet, waiting to be worn…I can’t even begin to declutter my closet because I no longer even know what I want to wear. I haven’t come across ANYTHING that has been as helpful as this video. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I actually feel inspired and motivated to dress myself tomorrow, focusing on how I feel in my clothes. And I know this method will eventually help me reestablish my own style and curate my closet over time. Thank you. ❤
This video literally blew my mind…. The shoes tip literally shook me to my core. I had never even thought about that issue and now that you brought it up this is such a HUGE problem for me. Thank you so much!!!
Yesss, as others are saying, I'm loving the fashion content. I really appreciate your personal style. I've been watching you for years, am a patron on Patreon, and yet makeup isn't really my bag. But clothing sure as heck is! Excited to get into this video, I'm on a little bit of a closet re-curating journey at the moment, perfect timing.
I love that your advice can be applied to all style types and body types! its about the thought process and choices rather than the garments. Hannah you truely think as an artist ❤️
Hannah, this process is brilliant! Can't tell you how many mornings I stand in front of my closet feeling lost and wasting precious time, then feeling guilty because I have plenty of clothes so I "should " be able to find something to wear! Can't wait to put this into practice. And I love your fashion videos - they are so approachable.
Yes style videos! I will happily consume any fashion related videos you put out. Also the format, structure, and visual aspects of this video were fantastic!
I watched last night and did this this morning! I asked myself how I wanted to feel. Which was the biggest help to me. Once I had thoughtful, intentional language around how I wanted to feel today, it was so much easier and faster to choose what to wear. Thank you!
Loved this video!! It's perfect for me as I am struggling as a 51 yr old. I don't want to age myself with clothing or look like I am trying too hard to look young. I think these tips will help. Thanks 😀
I’m 58, or, as I like to say “nearly 60.” I’m a Kibbe “natural,” so I’ve chosen clothes that fit my body type in neutral colors with pops of color that change with the seasons. I thrift well-made clothing and shoes, filling in with occasional purchases. I may give a nod to current trends, though with fast fashion that’s hardly worth it. Wearing flattering, well-made clothing makes one feel good, and consequently look good.
The script & framing of this is so tight, I can’t wait to see more content like this from you, Hannah!!! I can totally see the influence of TFD here and am following updates with great interest (as always lol!!!)
Love your emotional, creative, clear-thinking and organized approach to fashion and the relationship with one’s wardrobe. I feel your videos have changed how I think, feel and interact with my clothes and getting dressed. Thank you for your excellent quality, well-trout out and ele que tiene vídeos. More please.
I LOVE this video!! I have been LOVING your fashion content and honestly finding it a breath of fresh air. So much fashion content on TH-cam is about how to be flattering or how to follow certain rules. And, as with your approach to makeup (and probably even life!), you are helping me focus more on creativity and fun. This video was also just incredibly digestible - I would love to see more videos like this from you in the future!!
I am new to your channel and I feel so relieved to have found you!! Fashion has always felt out of reach for me, but you make it sound practical. I realize this method is exactly how I already cook meals for myself, so I feel optimistic that it’ll work for my wardrobe. Thanks for being so kind and approachable with this topic!
Wow! This is the first time I've visited your channel and I loved your video. Over the years, being a visual person, I've naturally figured out steps 1, 3, 4 but I couldn't necessarily put it all into words. I can totally see how step 2 will take my wardrobe to the next level, helping me to feel fabulous because my outfit will be in tune with my feeling! Thank you for the wonderful informative video. I'll be back!
Hi Hannah. First video of yours that I watched. Very educational. I never gave "feeling" to my clothing decision. Perhaps that's the step I am missing. Looking forward to more videos.
I was first here for your low but content and I stayed even though I’m not a beauty person because I love your energy and style. Your fashion content is an absolute GEM for me, because I do love your amazing style and how thoughtful you are. Can’t wait for more fashion and low buy content from you. p.s. I am now in my 5th month of low-no buy and I’m planning to do it until the end of the year thanks to you. You are an inspiration.
This was so helpful. I just finished grad school and I am trying to find my personal style and dress in a way that makes me feel confident and creative, since I've spent two years not buying anything and basically just wearing a flannel and jeans. It's cute, but I want to and know I can do more! My pinterest boards are screaming for a chance to come into reality, lol. I hope you keep doing more style content. I really enjoy and appreciate your perspective when it comes to personal styling, valuing what you own, and being a mindful consumer.
Hannah. You've become my zen! You're so calm, and your content is relevant to me. Thank you! BTW, your skin is flawless. Can you do a video on your skincare regime?
I love your advice! I have a relatively tailored "kibbe soft classic" wardrobe, so very different from your style but these four steps will work perfectly for me. So many fashion gurus have advice that only works for viewers with a similar style (i.e. minimalist, trendy, modest, etc). Thanks for giving us something that is so specific but can work for any style or body!! Love it
I love that you are branching out. I could watch you explain watching paint dry honestly. But this video was so interesting and well put together and shows a whole other fun side of you. Looking forward to the next one.
Really love this approach and just watched this again for a refresher 💕 really helpful especially now because pregnancy has thrown a wrench into my typical routine of dressing 😅 anyway, I think it would be cool if you did another video following the same routine with some different scenarios/examples, especially now that you have a child and maybe some accompanying different practical considerations. 💕
This is so helpful! You're right about figuring out how you want to feel! I know that is why I stand in my closet sifting through things endlessly. Knowing how you want to feel gives you a direct path to the "star" piece. SO HELPFUL!!
This was fantastic! Loved this video. I’ve done so much ‘curating’ but sometimes still feel so lost in my closet. I’m definitely gonna try this today. Thank you
I love this! I think this made me realize it’s really just me lacking confidence in my ability to put together pieces and sometimes my confidence in how I actually look in my pieces.
I love how thoughtful you are about clothing. This was the video I needed right now. I'm feeling kinda stuck with my wardrobe right now. This was the inspiration I needed.
Omg trust you Hannah to bring us educational, easily digestible fresh content. I LOVED this video! Plz do more especially maybe start at the beginning. How does one acquire a closetful of such a nice variety in order to put these pieces together? 🙏💕💖💕💖💕
Wow Hannah! The content of this video so great, but I can't get over the IMPECCABLE production quality!!! The video looks sooo crisp and the zooms and B-roll are so well placed
Wow great tips!! Setting parameters is so important - it’s insane how many times celebrities wear something they can’t sit down in to a talk show. Lack of functionality really takes the air out of any outfit. The last tip about balance is genius. Thank you!
New to your channel. I love the idea of choosing a star, because I think what you're saying is to USE your power actively, and not just be passive and let it happen to you. I'd love to hear you talk more about power in fashion/clothing choices.
love these steps!! i have been trying to find my style ever since graduating college and finally being able to afford clothes and this gave me so much confidence on how to approach dressing moving forward! 😊💗
I might have to try this! It's very easy to follow your line of thought on this video so i don't feel overwhelmed ❤ do you do shorts? Would love to see a few other examples, loved the way you framed your method with the hypothetical dinner
Very excited to try this at home! I tend to do outfit planning in advance because in the morning I don’t want to deal with it. Always try to have some potential outfits ready to go
I’m definitely here for the Fashion content! Sadly, with the pandemic, I’ve pretty much decided to give up on makeup (long term mask wearing, etc.) But I still have to get dressed daily for my ‘professional’ office job, which is not in a nudist colony, lol. 👏 Thank you for this! I have some evaluating and reevaluating to do! 🙏
Hi Hanah, I'm a new subscriber. I love how you break it down since I'm still struggling to curate my wardrobe. Especially throwing the fantasy self wardrobe. Living in the tropics & mostly commuting by motorcycle, I realize I don't have the wardrobe for that. I'm trying to balance between practicality & still being myself.
Just discovered your channel. OMG, this video just blew my mind! Can’t wait to try your method this weekend. (I wear uniform during the work week, so not really any wardrobe decisions to be made on workdays.)
Thank you kind leader! I love my time with Hannah Louise ❤. I've never really enjoyed my clothes before finding you on youtube. I'm 38 years now. Thank you for changing the tide in my life. I actually even reorganized my apartment to accommodate what I do at home everyday- get the ef dressed!
So excited for this video! I’m so tired of clothes I barely get dressed and it really affects what I do during the day - not dressed? There goes that walk or whatever else I wanted to do 😫
Video request: build a custom palette inspired by Hilma af Klint's work, perhaps that series with the various stages of life? And I love that the video notification popped up just as I was sitting down to a lunch break! 🌈
So glad you're feeling better! It's good to see your face again here on YT. My wardrobe is very different than yours, but I always come away from your fashion videos with interesting ideas!
I did a bit of personal styling this last year, and i have given my clients similar advice but in a more technical manner, so i LOVE how you have framed this process, especially the step about balance! I love this video and i cant wait to see more fashion content!
You brought something very different, an intelligence, a depth on this topic and the topic like how to feel elegant , this is where your strength is. Hope you do more of these videos on personal inquiry on topic of how to be best version of yourself.
I've spent most of my 20's in uncomfortable clothes that never kept me warm XD Now I'm all about comfort because I am happy If I'm not cold and in pain XD I just love your channel - it's evolving into a beautiful creature
This video might have just changed my life. The part about being simultaneously under inspired and overwhelmed really resonated with me. I never thought to ask myself how I want to feel today. Or to choose a “star” based on the feeling I’m going for. I find myself reaching for the same pieces in the same combinations all the time. Literally going to try this approach starting today.
Give me all the fashion content 🪄 this was VERY helpful for me! I’m newly postpartum so have just been wearing the same comfortable pants 6 days a week 😂 asking these questions is so obvious but I’ve literally NEVER thought to ask any of them. Thank you.
I loved this video so much. I love how authentic you sound. Even though I only wear black, I sometimes struggle to steer away from the familiar/boring. This helped a lot.
I love this idea! I’ve definitely been struggling with mixing it up lately and can’t wait to try this. This is a super fun video idea and love this direction you’re going.
Thanks, Hannah! 😊❤ Decluttering a second closet of clothes & jewelry, preparing for an upcoming, cross-country move...such timely content. Much appreciated! I like to get dressed more efficiently while looking great! On a side note...your hairstyle is DARLING! ❤
I love love your fashion content. I scoured all you videos and have watched all the ones about fashion. I love listening you talk about putting together outfits and all the fashion content you have. So excited to hear you will be making more! I can’t wait!!!
I am obsessed with this video. Like, going to write down these 4 steps and stick them on my closet door. Thank you so much for sharing. Ps. I'd love to see a video talking more about finding actual holes in your wardrobe. (I think you may have mentioned it in the minimalism video.)

I actually feel inspired and motivated to dress myself tomorrow, focusing on how I feel in my clothes. And I know this method will eventually help me reestablish my own style and curate my closet over time. Thank you. ❤
The depth of field in this video is so pleasing! This looks better than a bunch of TV shows, amazing job! Okay, I'll get back to the video
thank youuuuu!!!
As someone who really admires fashion and owns nice clothing but find it difficult to dress myself, this is EXACTLY what I needed today.
I love that your advice can be applied to all style types and body types! its about the thought process and choices rather than the garments. Hannah you truely think as an artist ❤️
I also love how your tips don't just work for one particular style. I like to dress pretty alternative but your tips still hold up!
What a well made video! I wrote this down and hung it in my closet
1. Functional parameters
2. The Star
3. The Feeling
4. Balance
Me too!
No joke, the worst moment of my day is when I put on pants in the morning. Simultaneously underinspired and overwhelmed. You're my star xo
i miss u 💕
Yes style videos! I will happily consume any fashion related videos you put out. Also the format, structure, and visual aspects of this video were fantastic!
I watched last night and did this this morning! I asked myself how I wanted to feel. Which was the biggest help to me. Once I had thoughtful, intentional language around how I wanted to feel today, it was so much easier and faster to choose what to wear. Thank you!
I keep a list of possible outfits on my phone. It is really helpful.
Loved this video!! It's perfect for me as I am struggling as a 51 yr old. I don't want to age myself with clothing or look like I am trying too hard to look young. I think these tips will help. Thanks 😀
YAY JULENE!!!! hi
I’m 58, or, as I like to say “nearly 60.”
I’m a Kibbe “natural,” so I’ve chosen clothes that fit my body type in neutral colors with pops of color that change with the seasons.
You have such a nice way of crystalizing concepts. Also thanks for branching into fashion - I'm really enjoying this content.
Hello how’re you doing?
Your hairstyle is sooooo beautiful!!
I can’t wait to try these techniques. This is a very clever, innovative, and informative video! Thank you Hannah!
thank you so much!
Thank you for branching out into clothes and fashion, it's why I subscribed!
This was fantastic! Loved this video. I’ve done so much ‘curating’ but sometimes still feel so lost in my closet. I’m definitely gonna try this today. Thank you
I could watch you put outfits together all day. Love!
The video looks sooo crisp and the zooms and B-roll are so well placed
thank you so much!!! we worked hard on it!
I realized I already do this naturally but you've put all the steps into words so nicely.
youre an angel of my mood stuff
I might have to try this! It's very easy to follow your line of thought on this video so i don't feel overwhelmed ❤ do you do shorts? Would love to see a few other examples, loved the way you framed your method with the hypothetical dinner
Very excited to try this at home! I tend to do outfit planning in advance because in the morning I don’t want to deal with it. Always try to have some potential outfits ready to go
I do this too. I'm in such a better headspace to plan the night before.
Your content is so well thought out, so purposeful, and brings me joy. I am so glad I found your channel!
I've watched your videos since your no buy year and this video is my absolute favorite ❤❤
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
In the hundreds of wardrobe videos I’ve watched that have focused on curating and decluttering, I have never seen a method like this. Thank you!!
SO nice to hear your voice! Exactly what I needed.
I just love the way you think!
Hello how’re you doing?
There goes that walk or whatever else I wanted to do 😫
Im doing this tomorrow!
Video request: build a custom palette inspired by Hilma af Klint's work, perhaps that series with the various stages of life? And I love that the video notification popped up just as I was sitting down to a lunch break! 🌈
love this!
omg this is SUCH a good request! I hope she takes it!!
This is gold! We want more, we want more!
Love this, thank you 😊
So glad you're feeling better! It's good to see your face again here on YT. My wardrobe is very different than yours, but I always come away from your fashion videos with interesting ideas!
Love your outfits and you’ve made me realize I don’t have to tuck every top in partially or all the way
New to the channel, but totally here for the fashion! These practical tips are essential! 🤍
I really love your channel
I did a bit of personal styling this last year, and i have given my clients similar advice but in a more technical manner, so i LOVE how you have framed this process, especially the step about balance! I love this video and i cant wait to see more fashion content!
You brought something very different, an intelligence, a depth on this topic and the topic like how to feel elegant , this is where your strength is. Hope you do more of these videos on personal inquiry on topic of how to be best version of yourself.
I've spent most of my 20's in uncomfortable clothes that never kept me warm XD
Now I'm all about comfort because I am happy If I'm not cold and in pain XD
I just love your channel - it's evolving into a beautiful creature
Me too! It really helps that fashion now values comfort in its trends too (like 'ugly' dad sneakers, warm puffer jackets & comfy 'normcore' sweaters)!

I love this turn to fashion--and I love your taste! Tempted to buy several things from this video as they are exactly what I have been looking for!
A makeup version of this would be amazing!
I am obsessed with this video. Like, going to write down these 4 steps and stick them on my closet door. Thank you so much for sharing.
Ps. I'd love to see a video talking more about finding actual holes in your wardrobe. (I think you may have mentioned it in the minimalism video.)
I love your fashion content and how you explain the process so beautifully 😍 thanks for making this video!
This was incredibly refreshing and inspiring. And I love your style!
