Here in Michigan, if a suspect is injured while commiting a criminal act, police will get the person to medical treatment, but the person is not arrested. If arrested while injured, any treatment, hospitalization, etc. becomes the expense of the municipality. Arrests are not made until the suspect is released from the hospital.

If that was the owner, he is going to struggle getting insurance going forward, they legit tell you to hit alarm and leave if you can.

@@ReloadedGlock We didn't see the entire video so we have no idea what happened before the guy started to violently smash the display case. He most likely used some type of lethal weapon. Most people who steal shoe polish don't threaten those around them with weapons.
Maybe you have a situation of a shoe polish thief and can share your story.
It is telling that the guy came back to the store after being shot. One could make an argument that the excessive force used by the store employee (the point you are making) wasn't excessive enough as the thief returned for more.

I agree and very well said. The media and legal system support these criminals 100%. If the media would show as much outrage as they do to Trump as to the criminals then crime would go down. However when you refuse to show the face or reveal the race of the criminals and when you highlight police shooting then law abiding citizens are put at risk.

Discharging a firearm inside city limits is usually against the law. Not sure about Chicago. What if bullets going out toward the street had killed an innocent bystander. It could have easily been the case. Would that justify business theft prevention?

The store employee would be arrested in New York City for shooting the robber. The robber would be let go with no bail.
