I completely agree with the emphasis on using affordable tools like flash drives and Raspberry Pi to get started. In fact, when I was beginning my cybersecurity journey, I found that building my own bad USB devices and experimenting with Kali Linux really helped me understand the vulnerabilities in different systems. The DIY approach not only saves money but also gives you a much deeper understanding of how these tools function. I remember working on a penetration testing project where I used a Raspberry Pi for network monitoring! It was way more cost-effective than high-end commercial tools, and I still got great results. It’s these practical, real-world experiments that really teach you the ropes. Anyone starting out should definitely prioritize getting their hands dirty instead of just reading books or watching tutorials!

I've built a bad USB using an ESP-32-S2 and S3, they cost 4$ a piece off of ali express, and they have WiFi + Bluetooth capabilities. I made it capable of doing exactly what you mentioned for your Zero W. Only problem is that it's kind of difficult for beginners since it requires doing research and hardware soldering, but I think its 100% worth it. I can work on a guide / tutorial on how to make one if anyone is interested.
These are all cool but looking at all this stuff scares me shitless knowing that if someone like this guy goes rouge everyone within a 100 meter radios is screwed
realistically if someone with enough knowledge to do real world harm goes rogue they most likely will go after bigger more lucrative targets rather than the average person, example: almost every big malware gang and their affiliates
the thing is...using this stuff in a vacuum just does not give you the balls to actually use it for crime and it doesn't give you the key thing, which is the anti-forensic layer of knowledge. Most people auditing security know the first layer of the onion, which is using stuff like this to go just a little deeper than consumer devices take them, but doing so in a deniable, untraceable, and affordable way is harder than people think. It's kind of like how you see lots of lockpicking videos from people who can pick the shit out of a lock on their desk, holding it in their other hand, in the daylight, but you don't run into many news stories about a guy who picked a lock in the dark, in the rain, fast enough the motion lights and the security guard didn't expose him, and without leaving fingerprints

The pineapple and flipper are awesome. Continue more on those. Your set up is cool. As a former Network Engineer....I absolutely agree with trying things, learning experience, and going for it. I have learned much more by "breaking" things than it working perfect every time.
When you make those videos don't use blur it's not deconstructive. Make sure you use bars to black it out and don't use anything that has any amount of transparency at all.
Blur can be reversed when there's enough color data left by a high pixel density blur. If you use blur that removes the majority of the underlying color data then it cannot be reversed. For example if you have a blur that converts every 4 pixels of an image to a single color blob then yes, it can likely be recreated. If however you are converting every 50 pixels to a single color block then no, it likely cannot be reversed. Just use better blurring techniques, black bars are ugly which is why content creators don't use them.
@@blindmown1 pixel every 50 would be easier to decode, even manually, than 1 in 4. Like, mathematically easier. Someone who understands math explained this to you, and you reversed it in your head.
That's a good selection of tools to start doing some stuff. The flipper has a usb to uart serial adapter, which is an underutilized feature, in my opinion. I hate the range on the subghz frequency. That Alfa card is super nice.
The range on the subghz stuff is only an issue out of the box, there are so many great attachments that have been released to add antennas, etc. Been loving my Rabbit Labs Flux Capacitor, e.g.

I wanna get that flipped 0 but idk if i can justify it right now, i don't really have an environment to use it. Just using VMs and vulnerable boxes. I've just graduated and i realize there was a lot that i still didn't know and i was nervous about getting into it and ya it is fun and I've heard having these home projects is important.
i dont think wifi pineapple is a good learning tool . you should learn how to do all the things it can do with just a wifi adapter and linux . and then you get the pineapple to just make your life easier on the job by having a nice gui and automatic features. but to learn how wifi pentesting works i think it will just teach you rely on scripts and automated tools to do pentests. those tools are only good for workflow reasons imo
Two of the things I built are an AIO hacker box from a Raspberry Pi4B I found and a 256GB mini flash drive with Kali, Kali Purple, Parrot, Windows All AIO, Sergie, and about 40 other pentesting tools. The hacker box has a handful of SD cards, each with a different tool: Kali Purple, Parrot, Raspberry Pi OS with android hacker apps, Maurader, and Pawnagotchi. FUN TIMES!!!! Ditch the multiple USB sticks... Use Ventoy, it's a free tool that makes a Bootable USB stick which you then just put as many ISO/WIM/IMG/VHD(x)/EFI files as you want in the root folder and you can then boot to any of them from a single USB stick.
curious on those two tablet stands at the opposite end of the table. are they one of those stuffed pillow stands made for lounging on the couch? i have one in the shape of a triangle but curious what other kinds are out there. they seem to go under the radar in tech review channels.

I would add a Hack RF, Ubertooth for BT and WIfi exploration/exploitation. I also use a Bus Pirate v5 (RP2040 based logic analyzer) a hot air rework station and Xegu programmers for hardware hacking.

one thing I try to tell people is make yourself actually use linux. if you just fire kali up for demos you're gonna look slow in public lol.

Yes, they’re pretty great. The only issue I had was with the latest windows 11 updates. They always break stuff but works perfect for Linux

@@GhostStrats I did one recently with pi zero 2 w, waveshare v4 epaper screen and pi sugar 3. aluminum ice fork. Pretty quick and painless with that fork!
