Great video. If I am running power to a DC-DC charger & 2nd battery located in the cargo area, can I just run the red positive lead from the engine bay to the cargo area and provide a common earth locally in the cargo area for the charger and battery?
hi dean, do you mean the Toyota genuine plug in the rear? If you have a 12v socket in the back you could run new wires to it and take the genuine wire off the socket. However if your talking about the 240v socket, I don't know of a way to get that running off the second battery sorry.
Great video, mate! Can I wire through the passenger side instead of driver side? If yes, anything I need to be careful of? I realised there is a plastic nut at the passenger side too. I have a long enough cable which can connect from starter battery to aux battery/battery box at the back of the car. Thanks mate!
Hey mate. It’s designed to go through the drivers side but the harness is 7m long so once your inside there is plenty of cable to be able to run under the dash and down the passenger side. Hope that helps
Tenu Rijal the Toyota socket in the back is running off the main battery so it can flatten the car battery. This setup is to run a second battery for accessories so that they don’t flatten the main battery
Naomi Bull hi Naomi, they will be part of a package we are putting together which will be the redarc bcdc kit, the piranha 4x4 battery tray and this accessory harness. Should be up on the site in the near future.
Hi Brend, this cable is 6mm twin sheath cable which means it has 2 layers of insulation. Easy strain as in the red an black is individually insulated with red or black insulation and then the pair are inside a second layer of black insulation which may look like heatshrink if that’s what you mean. The fuse holder end is heat shrink on the positive and negative terminals and also the sleeving is heatshrink were it goes through the fire wall as well.

Hi Regan. It designed to run down the drivers side but it’s 7m longs so there is plenty of length to run it across to the passenger side once inside the car and mount your sockets on the passenger side if requires.
Fantastic mate. I really appreciated you taking the time to make this. Great detail!

Thanks mate. Glad it was helpfull
Would you suggest adding a dash switch to turn off when not in use? Just so the lights in the sockets do not drain your battery for nothing. Thanks.
Hey mate, it not really needed they draw no power it would take months to put a dint in the battery.

Yer that should be fine mate so long as its a good connection the the chassis or body of the car.
Quality work mate!
Great vid, thanks. Is there any way you can swap the power socket at the back to run from auxiliary battery instead of main battery?

Actually the power socket at the back is 220v as per the manual.
Thanks for this video, well done. How did you remove the drink holders without damaging them?
Hey mate. It’s just held in by clips, it should just pop out quite easily by hand and then simply clip back in.
I used a chainsaw 🙂

Hi, should the rear socket for a fridge run of the main battery or the auxiliary, I have a 150 series Prado 2013 model.
Hi Anthony, The aux battery mate 👍
Thx, had mine installed by a reputable company 6 years ago,Fuse blew, traced it and my rear 12 volt outlet for my fridge is fed from the main battery.
@@freoliquid5091 that’s weird mate, they must have mad a mistake
Does the 6 awg cable come heat shrinked?

Are the sockets then always powered on and will their lights be permanently on? It seems so.
That’s correct mate. That’s the whole point of the dual battery system, so you can run stuff with the car off. 👍
@@AussieDrifterTouring Thank you for the very quick reply. Do you also send your kits to Japan?
