    Just wanted to say thank you for this video! Shop quoted me 5hrs labor for this, so you saved me about $600! Took me a little over 2 hours with one trip to the store for the 22mm that I thought I had but didn't. Thanks again! You have great, easy to follow videos with no "fluff"!

    I love the camera angles. It's hard to get good ones while not being in the way most of the time, so I appreciate your video. Thanks a lot!

    This would also be a great time to change the spark plugs... because you need to remove the wiper motor assembly and lower pan/plate to do the job!

    I had a neighbor who was using those spring compressors and for weeks his truck sat underneath the carport. I finally went over there to ask him hey man what's wrong why can't you drive your truck? He said anytime he puts the spring back in he can't get those parts out you know the tools the compressor tools. I took a look at it then I said I got an idea. I went in the back of my car got my old trusty friend a roll of bailing wire. I tried that bailing wire around that spring multiple times to where I knew for sure it wouldn't pop when I released the energy by removing the compression tool.
    Then I had him put it back inside the area where he was going to mount it and I said all you got to do is start cutting with wire snips the bailing wire. And it worked like a charm he was driving his truck that night. The so-and-so in question later on rides by my house with his middle finger up I go up to him and I ask him what is your trip. He proceeds to say we don't want any trouble la di da I said no you already communicated what did you wanted I'm here to find out why. Would you believe this stupid moron said that I have been parking next to him at different locations as if I were following him. Then I told him I said young man I have the ultimate parking pass handicap I parked there if there is no handicap I park wherever the next space is just so happens it's near your vehicle sometimes. We live in a village of 11,000 people not all of those people have cars and the ones who do are bound to park next to the other person because there's only a handful of merchants to procure your goods. Yes folks the old sayings true no good deed goes unpunished. Stupid fool probably taking drugs and all paranoid.

    Thanks for posting this video, I'll be looking at struts when the weather warm up a bit. You made it look easy and I shouldn't have any trouble since I've already replaced the plugs and had the wiper assembly and trays off. What struts did you use, I'd like to stay with ones close to original. I replaced the struts on my Lexus with KYBs and they made the ride a lot harsher, finally got used to them. I'll probably use after market but something besides the KYBs.

      Hi Hurschel,
      No problem, thanks for the nice comment. I used Monroe OE Spectrum struts, and I would say that the ride is similar to stock. Best of luck to you!
      Thanks again for watching!

    Do I need to get an alignment after i changed front strut? Thank you

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Chih,
      Depending on how bad your struts were, you might have changed your ride height, which would require an alignment.

    Hi Dan.
    Thanks for the video. In the last year or so, the front of my Prius tends to scrape the street coming down from my driveway. It didn't used to do this. Are my front shocks and springs going bad or losing their effectiveness ? Thanks.

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Eric,
      That's what it sounds like to me. I only changed the struts on this prius, but I think the springs may be bad as well. I might be changing the springs at some point soon. You might also make sure your tires are properly inflated to be sure that's not causing it to scrape.
      Best of luck to you.
      Take care,

    Is it possible to replace using a complete assembly? Without compressing the spring? Just take the entire assembly out and replace with a new assembly?

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael,
      Yes. The process would be the same, but you would just skip the steps to compress the spring etc.
      Thanks for watching!

      If you have a struts and springs that come together with it's own cap. You can. People will do coilovers but some make you reuse to stock cap so you would still have to use a spring compression. It's not that bad, just take extra caution, and use a good tool

    The spring compression tool... what is the make and model? Also what is the brand of Strut Boot Kit? I am looking at Monroe 63631 Strut-Mate Strut Boot Kit but they seem to require some type of tie strap.

      I just put a link in the description to the spring compression tool used, along with the struts and the strut boot kit I used.

    I installed kyb in the front, there wasnt any room for the spacer, so i left it out and now the front struts are making a lot of noise.

    Did the boot and bumper come with the struts or do you have to buy those separate?

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shilo,
      It was in a separate kit. The link in the description will take you to my website where you can find the product links for the same struts and boot kit that I used.

      Depending on how bad your struts were, you might have changed your ride height, which would require an alignment.
      You can drive without an alignment, but you are taking a chance that your tires will wear out quicker.
