Great engines. My first street bike was a new 1976 GT500A. I ran it all over Texas, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Over 35,000 miles using Bel-Ray Si-7. It never missed a lick. At 30,000 I pulled the heads and cylinders to check the bores, rings and de-carbon. Still had the crosshatch in the bores and all clearances were in spec. The only thing that broke on that bike were the front fender stays. They all cracked on that model. Sold it in 1984 to buy my first inline four. Good video.
Read up on the history of the largest twin two cycle ever made . The American engineers said it would generate too much heat and melt . They were close . Overhauled my friends in an afternoon . Crank seals good , so an update on rings with a fine hone job and a set of rings . New plugs , points and condenser . Also a carb cleaning . Trick on riding was finding a sweet spot for vibration .
At last!!!! Someone who knows what he is about. Thanks. Great video.

They are not Philip's screws. They are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard )
ditto
Great video, will be tackling my 76 GT500 sometime shortly. Did you get to the piston/cylinder removal yet?
Is that impact driver JIS ? You will wreck the screws with an standard American driver? Look for a dot on the head.
Don't remove the pump and rely on mix. You'd wind up starving the bottom end of oil
Did someone fill the crankcase full of clay?
