I have a 725 2017 with about 500 hours, and it still work, like a champ, all I have done is service it and replace the rubber tracks, an replace two rollers, I love that machine and will get another one soon
Thanks for watching Julian. You machine is one of the better ones with a lot of proven reliability. The Vermeer CTX -160 was new to the market when I bought it. They've got some problems , I'm hoping Vermeer will address soon.
Agree Love our machine (s600 tx) We've owned Vermeer mini skid since they launched these particular mini skid steers But i can see, we only use our machine for Tree Work, And the few times we have done some personal projects, time seems different. On a job we do our work with the machine and load it back up, On our home projects (lol) We drive it around like a golf cart, travel long distance from the front of the yard to the back, and rarely turn off or give it a break... Poor machine And ALL the wear probably is from our personal projects, oddly! And again, we do Tree Removal, so i would think there's not many other professions these machines are made for (except concrete work) that would be tougher on these machines! But i agree, The engineers should be 100% INVOLVED, or let us make the necessary upgrades/ improvements... Love the machine OVERALL Maybe the engineers should get out and work with the poor machines they design, And sign-off literally on each change These are machines to be proud of, and improvements will have to be made as they evolve... that's a Given! We understand, a little give and take! Thank you for your time and words, vid was good Brady S Rischman (Brad) (804)382-0371 Richmond, Virginia
Thanks for honest review, Ronnie. I could sense your frustration with the repairs and work delays. Looks like a design flaw to me. As far overheating, I'm glad that furnace filter helps. I'm sure Vermeer could sell you that $8 filter for $88. 😀
Holly molly ! Great inspection video you are spot on , I know other people with the same issue That is definitely a design flaw Should of got a ditch witch sk 1550 even though Toro bought them out they are still the best in my opinion. Keep up the great work ! Bill from P.A
I think you may be right about Ditch Witch... I've owned two Ditch Witch machines in the past and they were good to me. I'll be posting another video as soon as Vermeer rectifies this problem for me. Thanks for watching Bill 👍
Almost went for the 160 but this video steered me clear to the 100. Great heads up with the custom air filter but, with this kind of price you would think vermeer could head this off before production. I would love to see vermeer write their wrong on the main boom issue but, it might take a good kick in their pants.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I'm not sure about the price on the ctx-100. It didn't have enough lift capacity to meet my needs. I tested one out but never asked the dealer what the price was.
Great review! Do you know if they have fixed the issues in manufacturing now in 2024? Did you add the lights and the side step? Whats the side step for? Thx
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've only had a few people people reply with the same problem of the loader arm rubbing issues. I added the five work lights and steps. The steps are for temporary ballist weight. (Humans) lol.. I've only had to use them once to lifting a car from a ditch.
Thanks for watching Mario Orozco. I'm glad to hear that yours is without issues. So far there's been only two others that are experiencing the same rubbing issues as I. I hope your machine stays good for you and serves you many years to come. I'll keep the you tube viewers posted on the warranty repairs coming up. I hope Vermeer can straighten this issue once and for all. Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎀
It’s a work machine. Imo you’re too fussy about how it looks. If it works and gets the job done that’s what matters. No? Otherwise good points on filters and thx for comments about the dust. I have breathing issues from 40yrs of landscaping and last thing I need is to breath more dust from my mini skid
Thanks for watching 👍🏻. Your right, I bought it for work not a show piece. I'm looking into buy an battery operated pack type respirator for those dusty days. Thanks for the comments 👍🏻
I would not be okay with my equipment sitting outside for an extended period of time at a repair shop. The Kubota dealer in my area does the same thing. They claim it won’t hurt them all the new equipment sits outside before it’s sold.
I'm about to buy a vermeer 2021 ctx 160 with 85 hrs with log grapple and bucket for $54,000. brand new 2022 models are now $70,000 just for the machine only. When I was looking at used machine I seen there was paint rubbing off on cylinder from loader arm, you think it's still a good purchase with that known loader arm issue? All I know is $54,000 is a steal of deal for a practically new machine that is now worth around $75,000-$80,000 with attachments that come with it. These are Canadian dollars
Thanks for watching TLC handy man. $54,000 is more then I paid for mine. Most of this highly inflated pricing is from the Covid virus and now there's shortages everywhere. With the loader arms carrier a 3 year warranty, you should be good. Look that machine over really good. And ask if the loader's arm have been replaced. If it's got that problem, you'll see it. Take off the side panels for a better look. Take a bright flash light with you. 54k is high, but if you need it. Get it! It's worth it's weight in gold. It will outwork 5 men 🤯no problem!
Parts and Service can one of the most infuriating things to work on with Vermeer. They're extremely under staffed and their parts vendors are unreliable. With that being said, I would say most of their equipment are built rock solid.
Hey Allen, no I've not done an updated video on the CTX-160 yet. I'm coming up on 350 hours now and have been thinking about doing one. I've noticed the loader arm is still rubbing a little bit. I called Vermeer before the warranty went out and Vermeer told me the issue with the loader arm rubbing has been resolved. Wow, that came right from the service manager! I will probably sand the cylinders and repaint for proof that there still rubbing in the video. Thanks for watching and commiting.
Thank you Im sorry you had to go through that, Your honest feedback is vital for the success of these machines... Truly Thank you Sincerely Brad Richmond, VA
Hello Gabriel, thanks for watching. The Vermeer CTX-160 is a 1600# operating capacity. And the machine's weight is about 4000# without an attachment. Here in the states (they were) about $46 to $55 k before Covid drove things sky high. I'm hearing they are much higher in other countries. Like as much as 70k . They are a work horse of a machine and can outwork a six man team. Stay tuned for further updates on the repair process of this machine. I'll be posting future videos of it.
Hey CT landscape. Yes, I'm on a Facebook forum for mini skid steers. Numerous people have been talking about the rubbing issue. So my machine is not the only one with the rubbing problem. I was promised the loader arm would be replaced again the end of 2022! I'm still waiting 😥 Pre Covid they sold for 45 to 50k . I've heard they are going for as much as 55 to 65k now. Guys in Australia are paying close to 80 k🤯. Look up mini skid steer on Facebook and join us. Lots of good feedback there.
@@workingmanrondoyle3287 ya they need to cool it with there prices no one has money like that plus when there is a issue like that several years of heavy use and you need to do a major repair or get a new machine
Thanks for watching Aaron. Oh man, that's a tough one 🤔. If your in the market to buy the 1600# to 2000# weight class machine, there's only three. Vermeer , Ditch witch and Toro. Each one has pros and cons. I ruled Toro out after trying one. Ditch witch and Vermeer were tied, In my opinion Vermeer having duel function controls and being $6,000 cheaper, Vermeer was had to beat! They are scheduled to replace the loader arm again in April. I could give you a much better answer if that issue was straightened out by now. So all that being said. I still like the machine ,but would have to give Ditch witch another look over 🙄as my second pick.

Hey, did this issue ever get sorted out?
This video is from a couple years ago, have you make an update review video?

Your dealer is very polite and very, very incompetent.
Should have got a ditch which I love mine
Thanks for watching Patty Hug... I'm starting to think 🤔 you maybe right about that 👍👍
has other people complained about this just wondering has the problem been fixed how much does the machine cost i cant find anything for sure online

I would machine the barrel of the cylinder flat where it needs the clearance it looked Minimal.
That is a great idea that I may consider after the warranty runs out. Thanks for the suggestion 👍👍
No electrical people will buy that junk
