    Choosing tread pattern is always a balance. Aggressive treads will tear up the soil when turning, but smooth treads won't push. I don't know you well, but one thing I do know is that you do your research (and probably have a pro/con chart, lol), so that tread pattern must be the right one for you. At first, I thought that they are awfully aggressive, but once you got to the snowblower, it became obvious what your priority is.
    Life is about balance, and for each of us, that balance point is different. We should always work to understand that we all have different needs in our life and once we accept that, we can accept others as they are, rather than tearing them down just because they made a different decision than you would have.
    Philosophy aside, take a look at the old tracks and see if each track wears more on the inside or outside. If they do, you might consider swapping the tracks side to side midway through their life. I think Cat recommends that on their full size skiddys.

    Hey Matt, yeah the tracks were "past" ready for a change. GREAT to have been watching you, the family AND the channel progress over the years. You, Steve Ramsey and Jay Bates were my first woodworking subs. Thanks for sharing your wisdom, its been a fun ride. Keep the vids coming, some woodworking tips, tricks etc are always welcome.     Followed you for years Matt and remember when you bought this Vermeer. My family operates a dingo TX1000 and replacing tracks is such a beautiful thing.

    It's a blessing in a way. You probably would have kept using it if the track hadn't broken and may have had an accident over.the winter season.
    So as you got all that extra use, it's a win win.

    I am born and raised here in Atlanta. I wen to school at Mizzou and experienced my first car being buried in snow. I am glad I am back in Atlanta where it is warm and air conditioned. It is currently 60° here. I love your channel and am hopeful you will be doing another woodworking build soon. No pressure, just my selfish wish.

    I like how you give the machine's good qualities, and only mention the one annoyance it's being a bit pokey doing distances. Great buy. Have fun this winter .moving snow off the driveways

    As much as I used to enjoy watching you move heavy objects with little more than your brain ( the initial movement of the Bridgeport into the garage for example), I was quite relieved to see you come home with the mini-skid steer. I don't think "flat Matt" would have the same draw as just regular Matt. 😁

    Good job, reminds me of having to change track on a M109A2 self propelled howitzer- except that for you it was not night, under the cover of darkness and with enemy near by!

    Hi Matt. Good subject. What I really wanted to tell you though, is how much I like your new barn! As you we're working on the skid steer, I was looking in the background. The color and position of the barn looks like it's in a perfect spot, and the color makes me think it's been there for decades. Looking good!

    I understand how important your mini skid is. It's just funny watching the poor telehandler sit there with a straight face while holding the skid in the air as it's being bragged about! Not to mention the new barn is in the background that the telehandler built (along with his short term friend the lift)! 😆

    Have you looked into any possible adjustment between the controls and hydraulic pumps? Depending on how that machine is setup, you may be able to pickup a couple miles per hour in forward and/or reverse.

    Hi Matt, looking at the right hand side of the machine. The drive gear looks nearly worn out compared to the left gear that might be your next component to work on.

    I used to push a lot of timber when I was a young man and I still think about the close calls I had with tree limbs, tree trunks and flying chunks. And that was on a heavy duty, fully meshed cab on a D8k. Seeing you start into those trees with no ROPS, fully exposed, I gotta admit the adrenaline started pumping! Nice work Matthew.

      My grandfather skidded logs in northern Idaho in the 30s, no cab, no FOPS, no brake for the logs he was pulling. He said you had to watch ahead of you, behind you and above you all at the same time. Those were interesting days.

    Great traction for the snow but be careful on the ice. You'll end up going the other way before you know it, especially with a log on the forks or the grapple. The only good thing on ice is solar and lots of it. Thanks again for everything. Stay safe, stay well

    Enjoyed watching you & Donavan build yur super Red Barn, wanna see more of your activities inside that huge, warm (floor radiant heating) natural window light & well (3" closed cell foam) insulated space. A perfect area for the next maintenance item (front tension wheel bearing) on yur SkidSteer. Will you bring the (now) longer band saw into the barn? Waiting to see more of your monster tree slab cutting...but hope you can rig-up a garden hose...& show us wood grain enthusiasts the natural beauty of (wood grain) 'character' by using the modern technology of instantaneous water wetting via nozzle spray rather than your old fashioned, intermittent, messy, time consuming... milk bucket slop-it-on method! I know it's hard to break old habits...but if you try your wife's garden hose & spray nozzle to quickly show us viewers beautiful wood grain after a slab cut...wow, efficiency would satisfy viewer curiosity & our pent-up anxiety would soothe & complete our EggNog time watching you create another great video! I remember when my kid did something like that and they were fine, but remember when had someone over and something like that happened and they were fine until that someone would go like, "OH No!!" "Are you hurt?" And all of a sudden kid think "Maybe I'm not alright." and the tear and crying begin.

    One of the tracks is backwards. The lack of symmetry would drive me crazy. I don't know if it would have any measurable difference or not. But new tread looks good.

    How do you dispose of old tracks? Previous owner of my place left a set of mini-excavator treads in the yard. Had a hell of a time finding anywhere to take them. A steel recycler eventually agreed to take them. But it took forever to get that done.

    Carefully Pry out the seals, a tiny bit at a time , all the way out. Repack generously with grease. The bearings look good. This will prolong the bearing life. Can you get just the seals?

    Well it does the job..it pays to keep your Equipment in top shape..right...i could of bought a used Bobcat years ago,,real cheap..but it had tires on it..these things are not cheap,,new....or used....i know a few guys that need one of these..turning those logs get old by hand..nice day today Matt here in Wv,,about 60 with sun...rained all last night...big snows are coming i think this year...be ready,,,Be Careful man..

    Hi Matt, I was just wondering: shouldn't the tracks be mounted in a symmetrical fashion (mirrored Vee treads) so that both sides of the Skid Steer behave the same when turning or leaning. ☺

    7:27 when replacing the bearings order 2RS or LL depending on the manufacturer they are sealed bearings non grease able but provide very good protection from dirt.

    I was surprised that you didn’t perform any lubrications or preventative maintenance to the rollers and other moving parts while the tracks were removed. It would be interesting to see the routine maintenance that you perform on your various pieces of equipment.
    Did your barn door ever arrive? I do not remember seeing a video regarding the overhead door beyond the addition of sheets of insulation foam.

    Matt it is now a bit small 20 acres and new barn maybe a 925 at least. How many hours do you have on it? But the lift ht is the limitation if you have storage racks. These can sell for a value where by the hour they only cost $30 Very few wear points An engine overhaul is easy and a V A L U E or new build if one has time and space and no need for a second skid in daily operation.

    I was wondering if you had thought about putting solar panels on your new barn to help with power specially sense it seems to be taking so long with the power company there to get your power hooked up.

    Hey Matt, I noticed you put those tracks on different for each side, is that how they’re supposed to be? I ask because I honestly don’t know, and when I put my hankooks on my Toyota the treads had to go a certain way according to the tire guys.🤷🏼‍♂️

    That's a nice impact driver until I found out that a Bosch was as good, in my opinion, because I have used both for construction. How do you feel about an outside wood burner? I feel a backhoe is more useful.

    There is probably a physical device like a flow restrictor that is engaged when you are in reverse --find it and remove it, or adjust if possible. Have you got a parts diagram?
