This is the best comparison video, by far, on mini articulating loaders. We're seeing these loaders take quite a bit of market share from (mini) skidsteers. Most of them, including our Intrepid loader, are made in Europe. Skidsteers are barely a thing over there. As a rule of thumb, any loader that seats you on the front ('cab front'), will feature a rigid frame. A cab-rear loader where you sit on the back will oscillate. Thanks for stopping at my booth and reviewing Intrepid loaders👍 - Chris
We had a great time in your booth @miniloaders! Since the show was wrapping up we took some extra 'liberties" and drove the units all over the place, it was really fun! I really liked that larger Intrepid.
The plastic body parts suck & the ability to use full size skidsteer attachments is golden if you already own the attachments or enjoy a plentiful assortment of attachments to choose from in the new/used market.
hi tim. I live in the netherlands and here u see a load of these loaders driving around. The interpid is called a knikmops here, these are here only used in the smaller size, for the bigger loaders we use giants. thats why the smaller giant you guys tested in not really a match to the rest. Giant puts more effort in making larger machines. Really nice to see these loaders become popular in the USA. It are nice little handy machines.
We just picked up a Giant 254 Tele and it’s awesome. It operates more like a traditional wheel loader. I have a compact tractor and the backwards pedals were a little annoying on the others we demoed. We use it to load our Finn mb50 blower on job sites. And like you said it’s a huge plus not damaging turf
I ran an avant 528 for 2 years with a tree company and they are a game changer in that field. Yall made a good decision. Epic machine. Keep the tractor too
I know it won’t work for every application but an extendable boom helps with the backing out of the pallet issue. Boom out, set it down, boom in and you’re good to go
Really nice video comparing all of the brands, Tim! Pricing of machines will vary higher or lower based on options. The 33TLX Carbon Open Cab is closer to $58,500, Similar to Avant. Thank you for stopping by the booth!
Having owned an Avant 528 as part of my tree business, I loved it. We called it our secret weapon. Just today I was moving around 20’ (8-10”) logs holding them the long way with my grapple. Definitely get the extra weights in the back. I’m actually hunting for another one to buy personally to pair with my 1025 instead of trading up.
Forklift is the theme and it's interesting to see how the designs will change as usage moves away from forklift use towards Ag and Construction use and engines and usability changes. Texas needs a cab with AC and Heat for outdoor use.
We traded our avant for the giant 2 years ago and have been so happy. The lift capacity and stability is better, the option to oscillate or not is nice. I like the fact you steer in front but I will say the decelerated pedal is a drawl back and I wish it had a better option.
I personally don't like any loader that articulates with the cab on the front frame. I wouldn't even consider a loader with that design. Rear frame cab is much more stable, secure and you know where your rear frame is at all times.
As a owner of a tree company my go to machine remains the bobcat mt 55 ,85,100,& up coming 120 series!!! Whereupon they have changed the game for my production and capabilities bar none.
Awesome video guys 👍🏻👍🏻 Hey Tim, have you ever considered trying the larger mini-skid-steer machines on your channel. A comparison video on them would be nice as to, they are growing in popularity. God bless you my brother 🙏 in Christ.
When placing a pallet you need to operate in reverse. Leading with the rear allows you to perform the turn to park the pallet closer to that outside "wall" keeping the pallet close to the "rack" location and gets the center of the machine closer to where it needs to be. In the beginning the articulation will feel counter intuitive but its actually pretty useful. This is 100% an operator experience issue.
A colleague of mine does some crazy stuff with it with pallet forks attached. Always a joy to see it. I just got my license though so I still need a bit of practice to do it and you're right. Used to hate the articulation steering and prefer the steering of a forklift foe example but I found it quite useful now that I'm used to driving it a bit more.
Great video guys and very informative. Definitely a lot to learn about the differences between the various machines and requires considerable due diligence prior to pulling the trigger.
Hi Tim, great video as always and a great comparison on the small articulated loaders available. Thinking about Ken’s need to move 2000lb loads, one piece of equipment he should consider is a telehandler. They don’t suffer the same visibility of the fork frame as a loader and they generally come equipped with a skid steer coupler. Many models have aux hydraulics on the boom so attachments with 3rd functions can be used as well. May be something to do a future comparison video on?
Barring the price, I really like those little loaders. What I don't know is if I'd rather have the loader or a small tractor ( I have a 1025R). Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
With the weight you’re wanting to move I’d also recommend looking at the cat 903 and comparable Deere unit. They’re a bit more $ but if you’re wanting to move 2k everyday they’re going to be more stable.
I have operated,& owned almost every compact articulated loader , currently I own 3 Waldons , 4100 , 5000 ,& 6000 ! I am looking at purchasing another 3 !! IN MY Opinion Waldon's are the best value !!
Just curious, but why didn't you try the Bobcat? I like what i saw when you had that a few weeks in 2020. Plus, Bobcat has such an extensive dealer network. I thought MultiOne was smart to team up with Veermer in order to tap into their dealer network.
We sort of ran out of time...and it rained the one night so the testing grounds turned into a swamp. Tim had the Bobcat on his property before, so he already had an opinion of it.
Avant and Multione have been the leaders in this space globally. (Avant with a larger market share )and they have a number of different models depending on your requirements. The bobcat only offers 2 models and even their larger model really does not really compare with the likes of Avant multione cast etc….. in a nutshell nothing you are missing

Already I'm trying to find out where Multi-One is made since you've mentioned they make the Vermeer brand. I've seen those Cast loaders on Stan Genedek's channel (Dirtmonkey) and even Josh from Stoney Ridge took a spin in two different models. Curious what Christy would've thought if she got to get at the controls. Part of me thinks that one of these are good for hardscapers and certain contractors. My uncle whom is an excavating contractor could probably use one of these.
Multione is Italian. Vermeer entered into a distribution agreement with multione to sell them in the US Under the Vermeer brand. Everywhere else in the world it’s called multione apart from the US
Great video!! Thank you so much for providing so much information on these units. I am leaning towards the Avant 6 series as well. I'm curious though, are you and Ken referring to the 635i and 640i when mentioning the model that isn't out yet?

I hope they catch on in the USA. The versatility is great, but the price is 10-20k too much to complete with compact tractors, mini-skid-steers, and used larger skid-steers.
You didn't highlight the "reach/telescopic" functions, that is the real advantage of the units that have it. You can pull out of the forks straight with the "tele boom" while the machine is in full articulation. This is the function that is superior to the non-telescopic machines Wm Hamel Telehandler Specialist

However, Ventrac has many attachments built specifically for it. For example, the power rake on Vinny works MUCH better than on any other machine I’ve seen.
As someone who does tree work and has an avant... they need to stop making them plastic. Yes I understand keep material away from the panels but the best operator isn't always the one running the machine.

I think a forklift would be a better choice and only reason I say that is for over 37 plus years i drove them, and moved many loads of odd shaped materials.
Yeah, there is a reason that forklifts are used for material handling in warehouses. The only exception might be if you need to traverse uneven ground. There are rough terrain forklifts but they are typically larger machines. A standard forklift can get stuck on a flat driveway. :-)
Yup, hard to disagree. I have lots of experience with them too, even was a OSHA trained instructor for a while. I just don't want a single use machine taking up space.
@@tjt1992 No little boy, kdeckster had it right. The Avant and Kubota SSV 65 are 2 different machines at 2 different price points. Both have their place.
once you get used to the forks on the loader you will never want a fork lift or tractor or even a skid steer again. I have a Bobcat 2410 well two 2410 and a 2400 and I do not like any other any other than sit on rear articulated loader everything else is substandard thanks for the video
Tractors do not do a good job with forks. The hydraulics are not smooth enough. They ‘get by’ as we show in lots of videos, but as your business grows, something with smoother hydraulics makes pallet management easier.
@@kdeckster Kioti’s “thing” is absurd hydraulics flow for the tractor size. You lose some PTO HP to sometimes double the loader capability versus the green and orange. It depends on what your need is though as far as I can tell. If you are heavily using your PTO this might not be very attractive. If you use your loader or a skid steer auger more, having 17 gpm vs 11gpm can be a difference
@@petenolte4192 the problem is 25hp is not enough to run AC off of. AC will 'steal' 2-3hp from the engine capacity that's needed to run the main hydraulic pump. Anything above 25hp is subject to EPA regulations. So it's a bit of a trade-off.
@Miniloaders I am not sure about that, because some tractor makers are running enclosed cabs at the 25hp level with both ac and heat and I haven't heard any complaints 🤔
Honestly, I think it points out that tractors are the ones that are backwards. Afterall, cars have the go pedal on the right. …and reverse is sort of analogous to the brake.
@@TractorTimewithTim You do make a valid point and I did give that some thought. But especially if you have another tractor that has the peddles the other way that could be costly or even dangerous if you're working in tight areas and you mix them up. Just my 2 cents.
I can’t comprehend that these are in the 60-70k range for a machine with roughly the same engine as my Kubota B2601. I get it, theres some distinct advantages, but is it really 3x the cost to build?
Hydraulics are expensive. Fancier hydraulic controls, many more valves, much more flow, but yes, even with that, they seem high. Maybe due to lower volume than tractors?
Even before Covid they were expensive, but after they just got stupid expensive. I checked these out for a long time. Other than they are maneuverable and the loader and forklift function works well, their other attachment I feel struggle to do a good job that a mini excavator would do faster and easier for similar money. Also, the dealer network is a little suspect. Here in Wilmington, NC the Avant is an afterthought and they sell Takeuchi, Bobcat, etc. Their knowledge of the product is limited and carry few attachments to show you. I wouldn't feel to good about bringing in my machine for service. I think if you have a tractor, you're better off supplementing it with a mini excavator new or used.
Hi from Germany, if you could look at their webside you would get lost with all the different type of models they make. If they would have displced all there would have been no room at their booth. Also I saw Wacker Neuson flags and they didn't show even one of their Weidemann brand with even more selection.
Also if you were to get one of your back wheels up on a little pile of dirt the oscillation helps keeping you balanced and will allow you to continue digging flat. This scenario happens a lot in an articulating machine because when coming into a pile anything but dead on, the bucket isn’t wide enough to be scooping up the material where the back wheels are going to run over.
@@richsmith-d6m how does one actually answer that? They are a unique machine. They will potentially solve specific problems better than anything else. If so, they are MORE than worth the money. They have quite advanced hydraulics. It doesn’t surprise me that they are expensive.
@@TractorTimewithTim I think if your friend need to lift 2000 lbs with forks, he is better of getting a used wheel loader (can find relatively cheap in good condition) and not spend close to 70K+ on a machine that he may not be using for much of his business. Again, I looked at these for a long time and decided on a mini excavator that I feel does more functions than any other machine. I know every person has different needs, but that's a lot of money for a forklift.
@@jimmcknight3021 Are hydraulic pumps super expensive? Just because they have more flow and better hydraulic control, do they have to be 40% more costly?
Yea, I know. Sorry. The pond project is something I simply had to get done. Unfortunately, 1025r just hasn’t been up to it. We’ll try to get back to more 1025r content when we can.
This must be sponsored or they are not comparing apples with apples or they simply cannot drive these machines. I have owned both Multione and avant … anyone who tells you avant is significantly better than Multione or vice versa has a biased agenda. There is not much between avant and Multione. Even something as simple as testing avant and cast on grass tyres while testing multione on tractor tyres and talking about the difference of agility … seriously?? It’s good to finally see content on articulated loaders and great general information on the loaders but probably don’t go as far as calling it a review and rank the brands.
These are good sidewalk snow removal and great for tree guys carrying logs. As a landscape contractor i would never purchase one. Terrible for grading and visibility grading. Terrible resale very small market
Here in Australia I’ve been searching for a used Avant or multi one for 18 months and they rarely make it to the advertising stage, they are snapped up at trade in stage by those on a waiting list or by word of mouth. Depreciation is low.
@@fullers1966I doubt it. Those specs are ‘at the pin’, not the usable lift capacity. In my opinion, using the ‘at the pivot pin’ measurements is misleading, or flat out deception.

once you get used to the forks on the loader you will never want a fork lift or tractor or even a skid steer again. I have a Bobcat 2410 well two 2410 and a 2400 and I do not like any other any other than sit on rear articulated loader everything else is substandard thanks for the video
Why not use a Kioti NX? It claims it can easily lift that. This also means one fewer piece of equipment.
Tractors do not do a good job with forks. The hydraulics are not smooth enough.
They ‘get by’ as we show in lots of videos, but as your business grows, something with smoother hydraulics makes pallet management easier.
I already have a JD 3720, not sure what the Kioti can do better than it?
@@kdeckster Kioti’s “thing” is absurd hydraulics flow for the tractor size. You lose some PTO HP to sometimes double the loader capability versus the green and orange.
It depends on what your need is though as far as I can tell. If you are heavily using your PTO this might not be very attractive. If you use your loader or a skid steer auger more, having 17 gpm vs 11gpm can be a difference
I'd need a cab for Minnesota winters 😂😂
They offer cabs. Most smaller ones without a/c
@@TractorTimewithTim that's a deal breaker without a/c 😆 🤣
@@petenolte4192 the problem is 25hp is not enough to run AC off of. AC will 'steal' 2-3hp from the engine capacity that's needed to run the main hydraulic pump. Anything above 25hp is subject to EPA regulations. So it's a bit of a trade-off.
@Miniloaders I am not sure about that, because some tractor makers are running enclosed cabs at the 25hp level with both ac and heat and I haven't heard any complaints 🤔
@Miniloaders hey I know but the cab is going to get hot in the summer
I can see those backwards peddles costing a lot of sales. I wouldn't buy one over another brand just for that reason.
ALL the units with two pedals are what us tractors guys consider 'reversed'. I but think with some ingenuity they could be switched 😆
Of course they chose the green one.🙃
Ha! Ken mentioned that he hated that color of Green! (But we reminded him of the bright color of his shirt)!
Great video.!👍®️
I can’t comprehend that these are in the 60-70k range for a machine with roughly the same engine as my Kubota B2601. I get it, theres some distinct advantages, but is it really 3x the cost to build?
Hydraulics are expensive. Fancier hydraulic controls, many more valves, much more flow, but yes, even with that, they seem high. Maybe due to lower volume than tractors?
@@TractorTimewithTim Like commercial wood splitters and processors, this is a market I wish Kubota would enter.
What’s the lift capacity?
What about 3pt forklift attachments?
Clunky. Thats my opinion anyway.
So how do you buy a Schaffer in the US? Their website is useless outside of Germany.
There was a distributor here. Can’t remember their names off the top of my head. Sorry.
Hi from Germany, if you could look at their webside you would get lost with all the different type of models they make. If they would have displced all there would have been no room at their booth.
Also I saw Wacker Neuson flags and they didn't show even one of their Weidemann brand with even more selection.
Isn't oscillation helpful for traction?
Yes, as we illustrate
Also if you were to get one of your back wheels up on a little pile of dirt the oscillation helps keeping you balanced and will allow you to continue digging flat. This scenario happens a lot in an articulating machine because when coming into a pile anything but dead on, the bucket isn’t wide enough to be scooping up the material where the back wheels are going to run over.
Great video but are they really worth the 60k price tag?
Quite powerful and flexible. Pretty impressive machines.
@@TractorTimewithTim That's not answering the question. In my opinion they are not and I have no dog in this fight.
The crazy amount of money for these tiny things.
It is due to the hydraulic power on them
Their flow is much better than tractors and comparable to smaller skid steers.
Not only is flow much better, the hydraulic controls are much better as well.
@@jimmcknight3021 Are hydraulic pumps super expensive? Just because they have more flow and better hydraulic control, do they have to be 40% more costly?
video idea: Venny maintenance ? My zero turn threw its second belt, drive belt ... Is Venny easier to work on?
Yeah, some of those belts are easy and some are real buggers. Especially if in the field when it happens.
Whatever happened to the 1025r channel?
Yea, I know. Sorry.
The pond project is something I simply had to get done. Unfortunately, 1025r just hasn’t been up to it.
We’ll try to get back to more 1025r content when we can.
Intrepid!
Not sponsored. No bias intended. …and I don’t feel strongly about one over the other. Just an opinion.
Also a forklift is half the price of these new.
These are good sidewalk snow removal and great for tree guys carrying logs. As a landscape contractor i would never purchase one. Terrible for grading and visibility grading. Terrible resale very small market
Agree 100%
Here in Australia I’ve been searching for a used Avant or multi one for 18 months and they rarely make it to the advertising stage, they are snapped up at trade in stage by those on a waiting list or by word of mouth. Depreciation is low.
Way to high in price. Guessing just for commercial use. It’s always nice to see new equipment.
I think it is due to the extra hydraulic flow. You are basically getting a similar flow to the low end of the smaller skid steers without turf damage.
Wacker Neuson?!
I think it was a rebrand of one of these…but cannot remember exactly
Ken get tym tractor 2515 h
He has a tractor.
@@TractorTimewithTim but t y m can handle the weight is looking for
@@fullers1966I doubt it. Those specs are ‘at the pin’, not the usable lift capacity.
In my opinion, using the ‘at the pivot pin’ measurements is misleading, or flat out deception.
All too expensive for what it is..
