  • In this video we take a look at the Vermeer CTX100 and the Vermeer S925TX. Both are mini skid steers made by Vermeer. This video covers the features of each machine and what they have to offer. If you're in the market for a mini skid steer this is the video for you. Special thank you to Tim with Vermeer Wisconsin for letting us make this video! Go follow Tim on Instagram: / vermeer.ziehm

    One other thing to note is that the bucket on the 100 moves vertically with little to no horizontal movement. The 925 bucket moves in a standard arc, meaning that it will be farther backwards at height than near the ground (meaning you also need to be closer to your trailer when dumping).
    Good video!

      I own a CTX and I'd like to note that it is not a true vertical lift. There is a little bit of horizontal extension when raising the boom. This is actually good for loading trucks and trailers but in sensitive areas near walls you have to keep this in mind.

    I looked at these two machines but ended up going with the Ditch Witch SK1050, which is more equivalent to the CTX100. Two things I liked about the Ditch Witch better - separate controls for each track (dual joystick) gives a LOT more control with movement - especially important when trenching. Second, I didn't have the annoying safety feature of the Vermeer that you can control it if you aren't standing on it, which is great when it's safe but then you have to find a giant rock to put on it when you're changing the tracks, loading, etc. What I like about the Vermeer - separate low-flow & high-flow hydraulics, a little more power, guard around the controls is much more powerful. I had great experiences with both dealers which are just down the street from each other here in Raleigh, NC.

    Very good video and comparison. These Vermeer machines are the best of the best- just deciding myself too which one I am going to buy. I didn't even know about the bigger motor option in the 925 and that is really helpful and would save me some money overall. These are big boy tools, or should I say old man toys that I will absolutely have to have. No wonder they cost so much $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Vermeer ain't stupid, they know you need it and know you'll pay for it- forget the discount.....and I live right next door to Vermeer Midwest here in Michigan!
    I'll keep drooling for the immediate future. But rest assured, I will have one or the other soon enough, even if I have to part with the boat to get it!

    Ctx 100 is the way to go if you do grading, and use attachment like stump grinder. Diesel gives you more hours of work compering to a gas. 40 hp or 25hp is a big difference. For tree work only get the 925 for multiple uses like me a landscaper ctx 100 no questions ask. I made my sells men bring both machines to camper and a went for the ctx 100.

      Can you squeeze those 42" tracks through 36"..?
      Will the rubber track curl/ bend up to fit, or is there metal and or other stuff on the ctx 100 or 160 that will not let you get through 36" gates..?
      We have 600tx, it has been the best machine, just looking to get a diesel engine for the next machine..
      .
      And without a "DOUBT" have to squeeze that girl through a 36" fence... So, I'm so curious if the wide tracks will give a little a fit through..?

    I love my narrow track ctx100 it's been enough for all my tree work and I can push massive piles of logs and dirt (around 3000-4000 pound piles i can push around and make more space at my shops log pile with the 40hp turbo diesel. I have also pulled over some massive trees with it & rigged big pieces with it, there's so much you can do with this machine on site.
    Got a buddy who does only tree work with a lot of big removals, he bought the smaller one and used the bigger one and was so upset he didn't get the bigger one.
    But honestly my opinion is, if you do tree removals or need to pick up pallets (basically using it as a forklift) id go with the ctx100...BUT if you just do dirt work and need to move small amounts of materials around and things like that, save the money and go with a 725 or 925

    Still haven't decided yet but leaning toward the 925. I primarily need it to load logs in my tree business and I'm finding it hard to justify an additional $10,000 when it isn't necessary for me. In addition, there are far more used 100's out there for sale which concerns me. A friend said that due to the additional horsepower that they get stuck far more easily and don't have as good of traction. Granted, these issues might also be related to the additional weight and depending upon which track is purchased. For example, recently there was a used 100 near me with only 400 and some hours and it selling price was $29,000. That almost sounds too good to be true and there's always a reason why.
    I may consider the diesel in the 925 which I hear is tuned down when purchased. This way I can always alter it later if I find that to become a necessity for other work scenarios.
    Just thought I'd chirp in what I recently heard/discovered from a friend who's buddy works here at Vermeer Midwest. They chatted today.

      Michael Ferguson I appreciate the feedback. I too am not quite sure which direction I want to go. I like the ctx100, but like you said is it worth the extra $10k? Will I be kicking myself later if I didn’t get the bigger model? They are so similar, I don’t think you can go wrong with either

    • @michaelferguson167
      @michaelferguson167 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jcslawntips I wouldn't chance it if I do all the things you do- would just buy the bigger one and avoid potential regrets. I know for a fact I don't need the 100, and want to use that extra cash on a chipper anyway.
      Just waiting for my check in the mail sometime this year and then I'll demo a few models like you did. I'm transitioning my small landscape company into a tree service alone- too darn old to keep doing 20 different things when I'd rather simplify my work in this manner. I like playing with saws and at 57 this year am probably the oldest climber ever who's just learning to climb.
      Yeh, may only have a few years but they're always rec climbing after the fact.

    If anyone is in the market for one of these machines for tree work and you are planning on running a Branch Manager or similar attachment, then I would strongly suggest demoing both machines with said attachment. We purchased a 925 and had to have the hydraulic cooler replaced under warranty and I was given a ctx100 to use while it was down. When using the branch manger you lose a lot of the fine movements in the branch manager. It’s very jerky compared to the 925. I told the sales rep that I wouldn’t trade our 925 for a ctx100 if they wanted to trade even. Just food for thought for anyone interested.

      @@joshswoape3607 the CTX controls just have a shorter throw. They are more sensitive. I went from a dual lever 1050 to this machine and it's definitely different but you can operate it just as smoothly once you adjust to it. Theres no way I'd take a 25 hp machine over a CTX or larger SK. Especially trading even. Much more capability.

    • @joshswoape3607
      @joshswoape3607 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wpog8453 I was referring to the low flow auxiliary controls for the branch manager/grapple. There is literally no way to move them slower without it wanting to jump closed. Also I have the rotating grapple and the rotation motor has to be hooked into the high flow lines which also turns it into a very snappy/flailing contraption. Both machines drive and operate the exact same and you would never notice this on many other attachments. I’m not concerned with horsepower due to the 40hp Kohler not having the best reputation against the v1505 kubota that’s in literally everything and has been for years. Horsepower isn’t everything man. And for the less than 100 pounds of operations capacity, I’ll take dependability. So no, the extra hp in the form of that Kohler diesel just means I’ll be doing engine work at less than 1000 hours and it wouldn’t be worth trading even to me.
