    You might be saving some in fuel costs versus the fuel tax charge in California.

    You received the $223 because you fueled more gallons and fewer miles in Nevada. What you need to track is are you saving more than the $500 plus that you had to pay for California by fueling in Nevada. The Ifta usually washes out but where you save is by buying the fuel at the cheapest price possible.

      Knight / swift don't let them buy fuel where they want. Alot of you drivers reading these posts need to get your minds out of prine knight swift all those companies that spend alot of money making sure when you Google owner operator information it shows what they want you to learn. If you are worried about ifta, heavy highway tax, 2290, registration for plates you have no business being a O/O

      Right. I'm not sure OP understands this yet. If price is $4.00 in CA and $3.20 in NV, CA is about $0.06 cheaper. Also the discounts seem pretty lousy or nonexistent AFAICT

    Damn they are screwing you on your fuel discounts. This week I only paid 12.4 cents per mile on fuel and we get our full fuel discount. The company doesn’t pocket any of it.

    To blatantly say you won’t fuel in CA is potentially wrong. You need to take the price of the fuel minus any discount minus the state tax. This gives you the best cost. You want to buy the cheapest net cost you.
    Example I fueled in Ontario last week as it was the cheapest net cost I had between Los Angeles and my delivery in MT.

      My fuel app makes this easy i have a “less-ifta” button that shows my the true base price. This is what I try to advise everyone to do but some people know better.

  • @Drowe218
    @Drowe218 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I always fuel based on “pre-ifta” prices, ignoring ifta taxes all together and let it work out on the back end.

      @fozman845 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What kind of nonsense are you talking about?

    • @Drowe218
      @Drowe218 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fozman845 I look at the fuel price “less-ifta” in my fuel search app, so I always pay the cheapest base fuel price irregardless of what that state charges tax wise at the pump.
      What you owe each state is calculated on the back end and is what it is, by doing this you end up paying the least amount that you possibly can by year end for fuel.

      I’m retired now, but there used to be a paperback truck stop guide that had a chart of the fuel tax rates, and I’d deduct that from the price at the pump to figure out where I bought fuel - and almost always got a refund on my IFTA.

    2500 plus miles a week would make those numbers look much better.

    Looks like $230 per on-duty day in profit on average.

    Compared to just fueling up in California did you save versus fueling in Nevada

    Hey I’m with the KNX family also (USX) and considering Lease with them. I had a question regarding fuel - I was told we only get discounts at Loves/PFJ, but could you add the fuel card to an app like TruckSmarter or Mudflap and get deeper discounts?
    I ask because I would assume the KNX family uses the same structure

    Let's be clear the money you make is not what true owner ops make. Knight/ swift is great at screwing new drivers over. I see a bunch of noobs posting nonsense. You know I am not going to tell you expert noobs a dam thing. Freight is bad right now and I still do less than 2k miles a week and take home over 3500 after fuel. Do yourself a favor and find an actual owner operator that has his sht together and ask him questions. These lease purchase suckers are going give you bs. But good luk
