  • Since I don't have pallet forks yet, this week I'm trying out the Clamp on 2 inch trailer hitch that I purchased on Amazon. Let's see how it works with the Kubota B2601 Compact Tractor and Front End Loader. I'll try pulling my small utility trailer and see if it works with my 25 foot long travel trailer, the Jayco Jay Flight SLX 212QB
    Here are some product suggestions. These are Amazon Affiliate links, so purchasing will help this channel by providing a small commission while not costing you any more. Thank you for your support!

    I have one of these I use on my B2410, and have gotten really good at driving while standing up. When driving forward, use really light steering movements or the trailer can get away FAST. I use it for moving small trailers like yours, a horse trailer, a Coleman 274BH, and my baler, MoCo, and rake. Now THOSE are a PITA to move due to the offset of the tongue. I used to store the camper in my barn during the 5 winters we owned it, so got really good at backing it in. It was 8' wide guiding it between 11' aisle between stalls. #1 thing to remember when moving with the bucket is the pivot is far more exaggerated than when backing with a car or truck, so the tail end swings a lot more, a lot faster. Also remember, you don't have mirrors to see the sides, so use a spotter! When I pulled the baler out, I couldn't see the one tire and wound up tearing off the brackets for the stall door at the very bottom with the tire.
    I give this bucket receiver 2 thumbs up, a must have if you want to move trailers around with the tractor. It's actually easier to use at times than the 3pt one.

    Hi Ed! I can see why you want that targeting reticule animation! It sure helps me line things up. One thing I learned quickly is that it is actually easier to push trailers when you can. It’s surprisingly easy to steer them around going forward with just a little practice. Thanks for sharing!

    I have had one similar for maybe 20 years. It was hand made locally. I really like it and use it regularly for my trailers and log splitter. The is a short learning curve but I regularly drive forward with the log splitter or trailer and I have gotten really good at it. FYI pushing forward can cause it to angle on the bucket but you can compensate. Enjoy. I suspect you are going to get really good at it.

    The one thing to be aware of is that your tractor only has breaks on the rear wheels. The issue you can run into with a heavy trailer is reducing the weight of the rear tires on the ground. So if you are pushing the trailer down a slope you can loose control. You were correct in using 4 wheel drive and having a lot of ballast on the rear of the tractor. Paul Short did a complete video on this very subject a year or so ago. Just something to be aware.

    I bought a skid steer loader fork frame with 42" forks. Works great, but heavy as heck. I used Tractor Time With Tim's Artillian forks and frame and I think that is a much better option for a compact tractor. It is an open frame so it is relatively light weight, and I have learned that the forks don't need to be nearly as long as I used to think.

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @donelias1981
    @donelias1981 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have one of these and it works great for quick moves, I still prefer my 3 point hitch. I have had issues "steering" the trailer as the clamp on hitch moved side to side. I also clamp it as close to the side of the bucket as possible to the move "strength" and to avoid your fear of bowing the bucket. I however have a BX and it's capacity it much less than your B.

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Don. I've used it a few more times and have found that the clamp does shift. I wouldn't want to clamp mine near the side if moving my RV. I wouldn't want to potentially tip the tractor. Good point for smaller trailers. Thanks for watching. -Ed

    • @acdii
      @acdii 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyClutteredGarage Yes, good point on using it on the side, as it can flip the tractor, and having nearly done that the first year I had my B2410, I now only lift from the middle. The movement is sudden and VERY fast. I use a pipe to tighten the clamp down, it lessens the chance of it moving, but will still move a bit if enough side force is applied, can't do much about that.

    I see you are not real good at leveling your bucket yet. Im not sure I would use one of these on a travel trailer. If something came loose or you lost the hitch somehow your bucket is between you and the trailer. That could rip your trailer apart if everything went wrong. I have a 3 point hitch attachment for the back of my Kubota SU3300 and it works very well. the only thing is if the load is bigger than your tractor will handle, the load will push your tractor around if you are on slick ground. My recommendation is to never move a trailer on unlevel ground or on slick grass or mud.

      Hi Chris. My channel is still small enough that I can answer as many questions as possible, but I can see where it would be hard for larger channels. Check back for the date stamp. Maybe it's delayed because I released this one as a premiere just today? Thanks for your comments. -Ed
