Our channel takes you through the day to day chores here on our rural property in Western Pennsylvania. We also work on new projects and maintain old ones. You will find both compact and subcompact tractors here. I have a homestead with 18 acres and I do similar things that you have going on. I heat my home with an outdoor wood boiler and firewood is not a burden or a chore for me . It has become one of my favorite things to do! I didnt get my subcompact kubota till 3 years into the homestead but man WHAT a difference it was. I dont have the full trail system yet so I cannot yield as much firewood as I want yet but I am going to rent a medium sized excavator like you did to make trails through each section of property. i plan on doing something similar to what you did a while back. That series gave me the idea so thank you for that! Anyways my point is that tractors and equipment make all the difference! I find uses for my kubota all the time! I even take the trash out with it haha (400ft driveway so Its a haul on foot). Great video as always!

How troublesome or not, was the Regen on your RK55 ??? Any major/ minor issues you have encountered on the RK, you would like to share ???
george maddox, my rk55 only has about 20hrs on it so it has not went through a regen cycle yet. the only issue i had was 2 wires were crossed from rhe factory which caused it to blow the headlight fuse. rk took care of it. so far i am very pleased with it.

Thanks for the video Mike. Ive never ran a teactor ever. I need one for projects at the house, food plots for deer hunting and light logging for fire wood. I dont have a clue how to work the ground for food plots or anything. So thanks again

Long before the term prepper my father told me. Get a farm and be self sustainable because within the next 30 years you are going to be faced with a collapse. He went on to say these countries can't keep spending more money then they are making and not expect to end up in trouble. This was just about 30 years ago. At the time I had a good job in the city and kind of dismissed what he said. I wish he was alive today to tell him that he was bang on. Recently I left my job and started homesteading/logging with the goal of self reliant. My initiatives can be seen on my channel.
Not sure where this is going to end but it must be better then where I was.
Great video. Why not move the clocks ahead 30 minutes and leave them year around. That way it would split the difference on everyone that is for or against.....😊

Another informative video. Rather than turning blade around, I dump the gravel with my loader than back over with blade down thus two operations in one trip.
Great video again. Some tractor seat time is always good for the soul.
Good video for people looking to make a purchase. Maybe a breakdown of the differences between the models would help too. For me it was tough because I needed something to cut the grass so going with something larger wasn't an option. Thanks for sharing.

a other great video, we cut limb .then i pull as long a lpg as i can . hold with the splitter to cut to length split 4 way stack in gacks later bring in to building near furnace or wood stove . enjoy your videos . god bless

Do you ever wish the grapple's bottom "forks" were longer? Sometimes it seems like they could limit your work because of the short length.

Howdy Mike , i see you don't have a quick hitch on the 55 , i really like my quick hitch for when i'm alone . I have a problem , we use the back door to my house and it's a circle driveway but it's low where we graded it ourselves when i moved here to the family farm but it gets muddy and i want to put some rock in this high traffic area , what do you recommend I use ? I think maybe one truck load would fill it in and more , we've had a wet season here in south east N.C. and i'm ready to fix it but i don't know much about different rock and i'd really appreciate your advice

yes , the RK 55 rear tires come filled with something that won't freeze and puncture resistant i think , most all rear tractor tires have water and or some mix so they don't freeze , I don't think they're full just a certain amount in the rear tires , your local tractor dealer should be able to tell you about your tractor tires

I know because I have subscribed to your channel quite a while now that you love running your tractors. The thing I've noticed is that you use one hell of allot of gravel on your driveways and that must get a bit expensive over time. (add fuel costs and your time too) Not to mention that it must be getting a little old to be constantly just a tad OCD on your drive's looks. :-) Would it not be better just to pave your main drive & parking area? It would give you more time to maintain your beautiful woods and keep yourself in mountains of firewood. I'm just curious I guess, why you haven't decided to pave?

Where I live, up here in the highlands of N. Central VT., a 4 x 4 tractor, fully chained is an ABSOLUTE MUST. Earlier back in '00 - '01 I tried the '93 F250 with the 8' Fisher Plow trick. It proved to be an " utter failure " in more ways than I can possibly explain here...
I maintain a insanely steep 350 ft. d/way along with a 1/2 mi. of class 4 road that gets me to the town maintained class 3 road, then an additional 2/10's of a mi to the mailbox. Most folks up here have a tractor amongst their arsenal of equip. Some folks have older tractors, gas and/or diesel or a combination of both tractors with rear drive only. Typically they run chains nevertheless.
I have been wanting a set of forks for many a year now, real handy for bringing out short lengths of trees for processing without dragging them through the dirt. I have a neighbor down below that welded a pair of removable leaf springs to the underside of his bucket for short tree removal as as well. What I don't like about that setup is how far out the weight distribution is beyond lip of the bucket, one needs to think & act carefully in that respect.

Something that is NEVER pointed out in these videos, I guess because of the sponsor, if you are paying good money for a tractor, buy a brand with a decent dealer network (and a good local dealer) where you can get parts or service in a reasonable amount of time and you don't have to scrap your $20,000 tractor after the warranty runs out.
I believe Mike has addressed these issues (and they are certainly relevant) in some of his earlier videos.

What is "real work"? I thought skidding out 5,000lb logs, grading and maintenance on 1/2 mile of driveways, maintaining 2 miles of trails, tilling, brush hogging, firewooding, food plotting, land clearing, and snow plowing were "real work"?
