- The question is, can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Brilliant Diamond version using only Psychic types? Well, it's a short question, but with a long answer, get some popcorn and a beverage and hope you enjoy.
Rules of the challenge:
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

Why is Jirachi a steel/psychic type when it looks a fairy and its wishing star and fairy's grant wishes.
It’s surely too late for my comment to mean anything, but there is literally nobody within the Pokemon challenges scene that uses trade evolutions, so if you started doing it, that would be absolutely unique :)
Because it was released befor gen 6 and they can't change one of its types to fairy. That would change everything about it. When they added the fairy type to prior Pokémon in gen 6 they only did to monotype Pokémon or did it normal type Pokemon.
I think if a Poke survives up to the elite four then it deserves a trade evolution if possible. Otherwise how do you justify letting it evolve with having to reach a certain level or friendship level etc... but definitely yes to trade evolutions!

I think trade evos are ok, but mythical Pokémon I think is a little over the top.
I kinda agree but jirachi’s base stat total is 600 which I’m pretty sure is the same as salamense or hydragon
Nvm I meant garchomp but u can’t get that till really late so I think he should have only used him in the elite 4

It's still really overpowered. He used Jirachi in *every* battle. I found the video incredibly boring because he just kept on using Jirachi.

7:08 yes you should definitely allow trade evolution! I genuinely don’t see a reason as to why not, the hardcore nuzlocke already imposes a bunch of rules, why add more difficulty? Besides the option to allow impossible evolutions on a randomizers sets the level if evolution around the high 30’s which is like 5th-6th badge range so I think that’s fine 🥰
Yeah the Universal Pokemon Randomizer sets impossible evolutions to 37 which makes sense.

To be honest, I'm not sure why you'd allow mythicals and the dupe glitch but ban trade evos. I'd have those the other way round. Using the dupe glitch in particular seems against the spirit of a nuzlocke
Gonna be honest, allowing trade evolutions would make this far more interesting than not evolving them. Just set up a gate for them like max friendship or lvl 40 or something

Considering you are using the duplication glitch for rare candies, wouldn't you think it would be more challenging to have separate level caps for each Elite 4 member?
Without the duplicate glitch you can't grind in-between E4/Champion so it does make it harder which is fine still
I'm all for allowing trade evolutions! I never got to play them in my games, so it would be nice to see them in your challenges. What I don't like is the use of glitches and legendaries: it's really boring seeing only Jirachi for half the challenge
Agreed. I was on board with the run, and the TH-camr, until he started using glitches (I don't care if it is time saved. He specifically mentioned skipping "challenging" trainers which obviously removes some of the challenge of the game). He certainly uses every advantage in these runs but the point is to entertain the viewers and sweeping half the game with a mythical and skipping challenging fights using glitches is not my idea of entertaining.
It's also supposed to be a challenge..... Nothing about this run screams challenge.

@@michaeliccutreb6321 If you were to use Legendaries, put stipulations on their use. Psychic has a lot of encounters so Jirachi should have only been used in the beginning, or saved as a 'endgame' or 'last resort' Pokemon. Kadabra (or if he chose to Alakazam) is plenty powerful enough to solo Gardina, and I was looking forward to seeing what strategies we'd get with Bronzong...yet it was a continual Jirachi lead.
Yes to evolution trades, no to exploits, even if its just to avoid grinding. The risks related to grinding are an integral part of the nuzlocke spirit in my humble opinion.
Why use Jirachi? I just feel like the run got way more boring when using legendaries.
tbh a combination of bronzong and alakazam is just the same if not better as jirachi, alakazam (which can be get before gym 2 by this ruleset) is faster and stronger than jirachi, and bronzong is a very early and easy to get more defensive jirachi which also one less weakness

@@babel_UV Alakazam gets 1 shot by any physical attack because it doesn’t have Bronzong’s defence stat. Unlike legendary Pokemon which can sweep the whole game. It was a joke :)
@@Lucaazade Alakazam is very fast, so it can sweep with strategy or, in the early game, even without it. You can literally get a level 16 alakazam before the first gym and it'll be both faster and stronger than Jirachi. Surely you can have Jirachi do the same role as alakazam and bronzor put together, but it won't do the alakazam role as well.
Without trades these can become stagnant (more than pokemon already is) so seeing a funny Golem or Steelix around from time to time would be nice.

I'm doing a psychic only run too, except I banned Jirachi for myself. It's a fun type to try.
Trade evolution’s are a mechanic available to players so it should be allowed as long as you trade it with a weaker pokemon

I’d say keep the trade evolutions in as it sucks to see a Pokémon not reach its full potential, but I’d like to see the run not use the duplication glitches
While I agree with the trade evolutions, the duplication glitch is just a faster way to ev train so you can see these videos on time. The video is exactly the same but just released earlier because of not having to grind.
@@williamhancock77 in my opinion it kinda upsets the challenge when you can get perfect EV trained Pokémon and have everyone on the exact level for each major battle.

The only difference is whether he grinds for it or not. These challenges are to make the battles harder, not to wear you out running back and forth for hours

I think trade evolutions are fine conditionally. Just look at the base stat total of the trade evolution, and then find other Pokémon with that base stat total, and evolve the trade Pokémon at the same level the other Pokémon with the same BST evolves.
For example, Alakazam evolves via trade and has a BST of 500. Pokémon like Ampharos and Rapidash also have a BST of 500. Ampharos evolves at level 30 and Rapidash evolves at level 40, so maybe you just have Alakazam evolve via trade after you reach level 35. It’s just math and comparison, and you’ll find a reasonable level to evolve the trade evos at.

I say evolve all including trade. It’s just a personal preference but having an unevolved Pokémon ruins the dynamic for me. It just feels incomplete and out of place. If you want to make it challenging don’t evolve it till after the gym battles. If it survives those then trade it before victory road or right before you go into the elite 4.

Not "allowing" trade evolutions is so random to me. Like yeah see this pokemon? Fuck that pokemon in particular. You don't get to evolve it. And while I get that lv16 Alakazam is ridiculously OP, so is Crobat at 23 yet all nuzlockers go crazy about how crucial it is to evolve pokemon early. It's high key hypocritical. I think you should always use whatever game lets you do. It was intended like that anyway

Usually enjoy your videos but use of overpowered for early game Jirachi and then after duplicating the vitamins and rare candy, I switched off. It's no longer a challenge except from a strategy viewpoint at e4. Will still watch future vids but hopefully they don't have these strats again. Sorry to be a downer!

I personally don't mind the use of Legendaries, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts or whatever, throw it all on your team if you want! But a balance in spotlight is important, so if you use any OP Pokémon, reserve them for the stickiest situations :P But who am I to talk; YOUR run, YOUR way of playing! Do whatever you enjoy! Being based gains respect XD

From now on I think you should feed your Pokemon herbal medicine to negate all their affection so you could have a fair battle. At least do that before the elite four, otherwise it feels like a cheap win.
The herbal medicine only works for friendship. Theres no way to decrease affection.
I'm fine with the exploit usage. Grinding is monotonous and time consuming at the best of times.
I'd argue against the usage of mythical/legends in the future, though. Would've loved to see more screen time of the other members of your team. You had some awesome mons that just... didn't see use, unfortunately.

Allow trades. The only reason not to do trade evolutions in these runs is when you're on an emulator, if you're on an actual console it'll be easy to find a partner to trade with.

Definitely seeing why mythical and legendary Pokemon aren't used in hardcore nuzlocke. Jirachi gets way too much spotlight, I think this should be redone without Jirachi or at least only having screens and hazards on it if brought
Why do you nickname your Pokémon if you just call them by their species? This is a genuine question, not a judgement or anything like that
Nuzlocke rules say that you have to nickname your pokemon, and people will actually get mad if you don’t.
Making trade evolutions allowed would make watching the playthroughs quite a bit more interesting

I know someone has probably already mentioned this but if you use items like the bitter herbs on your Pokémon that can stop the affection bonuses also great video as always would like to see you attempt a run with only Dark types since Houndoom is one of my favourite Pokémon of all time plus it would be cool to see Cyrus go down to the one Pokémon they didn’t choose to give him despite it being in the Underground and him having one in Platinum
I’d say yes to trade evolutions! For Pokémon that don’t need an item, i’d evolve them around level 36 or so, like a starter. For Pokémon that need one, I’d make the evolution available as soon as you get the item.

Not having trade evos is honestly just a needless rule to me. I understand not wanting to use other games to import a bunch of mons but you caught the trade Pokémon in the game proper and trade evos only exist to boost sales even more.

As a content creator he's probably interested in knowing that lots of viewers got bored watching Jirachi blast through half of the game on its own. No one's telling him what to do, we're just telling him what we are and aren't interested in watching. There's nothing wrong about that.
