    Great video. Two things: during descent power management stays in CRZ until approach where you switch to takeoff power mode. And when descending to an altitude you can already switch to the local qnh.

    Great tutorial, thanks. You explain everything very well and in a relaxed mode that is very pleasant. Very good landing although I would have keept the nosewheel more off on touch down for my feeling but I never flown the ATR in RL, but I find there is a tendency to bounce on my landings. Maybe I have to setup the control sensitivity in a different way. I still try to find a way to reduce throttle on flare and increase pitch in the same amount and then touch down…..but couldn’t find the sweetspot yet. Intercepting ILS by the way can be done with comfort until 45 degrees intercept angle. (i was hoping to see you perform a crosswind landing but unfortunately the wind turned…with those control inputs visible we can see clearly how you do that). Being a FS Pilot you really do a great job there!😊

    Hello British Avgeeg, Thank you very much for your very informative tutorials.
    I would like to share with you the following issues I experienced, in case you could provide some solution or workaround.
    It appears that the last update of the payware ATR is still very buggy, in my opinion :
    1- You cannot do several hops from airports to airports :
    - The MCDU does not reset, Transition Altitude sticks at 18000ft,
    - unable to set back the hotel mode from engines off, no "Ready" light on the overhead
    =================================================
    EDIT : For that point I believe I found out a way out :
    - Make sure the gust lock is engaged,
    - Make sure the propeller condition lever is on feather postion "ftr"
    - If "Ready" does not light on, press the "Grd Ctl Only" button on the pedestal, below the parking brakes, to raise hydraulic pressure enough
    Note : To exit Hotel mode, you also need "Ready" on, using same three steps above
    Hope this can help other people like me, in quest for an operation manual ...
    =================================================
    2- VNAV is not working properly when you are lucky enough to have it set on the PFD, the altitude constraints in the FMS are rarely met.
    3- V-FP is not working properly for RNP approaches
    4- TOC and TOD do not show up from time to time and are erroneous most of the time.
    ...Nice aircraft if you just use it in LNAV mode or manual VOR to VOR, do manual, VS or IAS descent and manual or ILS approach.
    Too bad if we take into account all the nice details in the cockpit !
    Kind regards

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      @d.p.5874 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BritishAvgeek thx BrAvg. It would be nice if you could explore VNAV when climbing or descending with few altitude constraints in the MCDU and V-FP on RNP approach.
      I may be doing something wrong.

      @@BritishAvgeek Hi British Avgeek, Just to follow up, I just noticed that you need to fly "Live" weather conditions to get the right airport altitude on PFD with BARO at QNH. If it happens that you don(t fly "Live" weather, either you need to keep the BARO at 1013 hPa or tune the QNH in the weather settings of the MSFS sim to get the right airport altitude. This fact might be the source of difficulties when using VNAV, TOD , V-FP ...

    I enjoy watching your tutorials, simple and easy to understand for non pilots.
    I've a question about the Set Auto/ Manual Speed Target knob, located left of Capt PFD. Unlike A320, ATR doesn't have Auto Throttle. After setting the speed target with the knob, how do you get the ATR to follow the speed target?

    • @aygameryt
      @aygameryt ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do it by turning on the IAS mode which is right beside the autopilot button, I'm pretty sure it just adjusts your pitch to match the speed you picked. Edit: It doesn't work in cruise tho and make sure you have the idle gate behind the throttle off

    • @BritishAvgeek

    I guess you use a button assignment for flaps? I find it's terribly difficult when hand flying to scroll way over to that flap handle. As a Boeing guy, I find the Airbus switchology very backwards and unintuitive, but I will get used to it. For me, the biggest problem is cockpit vision and if I can see a good piece of the flightdeck, I can't read those tiny displays. I know in real life they are big and bright enough to see.
    If you have that auto box checked for the nav frequencies, what does that do for you?

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a keybind set (so in a way that simulates me reaching for the flap lever and using it rather than looking around to click somewhere). Same with every aircraft. I used the Auto box a few times, more useful after takeoff and in cruise to track nearby VORs

    Great tutorial! 2 questions:
    1. My power management knob does not want to turn sometimes. Seems like a bug or is it maybe bound to a certain key by default?
    2. Is there a reason why the synch of the heading is so important to do everytime, even while flying on vnav?
    Thanks!

    • @BritishAvgeek
      @BritishAvgeek  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Great to hear 😊 good questions too!
      1 - it's a little Buggy. I've found using my mouse scroll wheel in the centre makes it rotate more consistently
      2. It's good practise. If you are on LNAV and suddenly get ATC vectors at any stage - whether that be in the SID, Climb, Cruise, Descent or STAR you know your heading bug is facing the same direction of travel as your VNAV and that then gives you one less thing to think about

    I need to look at my throttle quadrant settings, as when I try to move my condition lever to cut off, whether using mouse or the physical lever, it refuses to stay in cut off. So at the moment I’m having to use the fire levers to shut off the engines. 😂

    • @BBoaBrim
      @BBoaBrim ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Residentrounds I’ve managed a work around. I’ve read somewhere that once the throttles have been moved the aircraft assumes you’re in flight. Therefore you cannot put the engine condition levers into cut-off as a safeguard to prevent accidental over-exertion of the levers and cut off the engines in mid-flight.
      What I’ve done is gone into the settings (keyboard) and assigned separate keys for Toggle Feather Switches 1&2. Now I can switch off engines by use of the keyboard keys assigned.

    As I remember a long time ago, flying the FS9 many of Vpilots used a Flight1 ATR72-600. It was one of the best and complicated model that time. And during descend, you can use FMS for V/S calc and display! You must just enter the next altitude and plane calcs V/S by itself, and you can see this in the FMC (RNAV Page). Does this plane have this option? Thank you very much for tutorials!
