    I performed these exercises 3 months prior to my left knee replacement on February 7, 2024. Two days later I started my PT. My therapists were amazed at how well I could bend my new surgical knee. My degree of measurement was already at 120 degrees. I was at 139 degrees of movement at 3 weeks which normally takes around 6 weeks to reach that point. I cannot thank Mike enough because I firmly believe doing these exercises every day and having a great surgeon allowed me to have an excellent knee replacement outcome. I was driving at 2 weeks and I have no knee limitations .Thank you!

    I'm 82 yrs. old and have been doing your pre-surgery knee replacement exercises, 3 times a day since mid-December 2023, in preparation for my knee replacement on March 8, 2024. What I like most about your technique is that you do the exercises along with the participant, you look strait into the camera leading the participant feeling that you are looking specifically at them and you offer words of encouragement, just like a live physiotherapist would do. And you explain things all throughout the session. I live in Victoria, British Columbia, and I noticed that our ReBalance Orthopaedic website have posted your photo on their website that specifically advertises pre-knee replacement exercises. I've tried a few of your other exercises for seniors that target other parts of the body, and although they are a little too difficult for me at this time, I most certainly plan to do them regularly when I have recuperated from my surgery. I believe you have a special place in your heart for seniors, and I think you are the greatest.

I also live in BC (Abbotsford) and, like you, noticed that the Chilliwack & District Seniors’ Resource Society has one of Mike's "strength" workouts on their site.     I did these exercises for a month before my first knee replacement. By doing so, I was in excellent shape for my rehab after my surgery. Today I began them again to prepare for my second knee replacement, which is in May. Thank you so much!

      @@MoreLifeHealth Thanks Mike! Just did the video. It's excellent and fits right in with my PT I am doing. The Tandem Balance was totally new for me and wow do I need it. I was quite jittery and had to gingerly place my fingers several times on the back of the chair. But I know it will get easier in time.

    Thank you Mike, for this knee strengthening video. I do have a "total knee arthroscopy" coming up in Feb. 2023 so I was thrilled to find your video at this time. And I walk alot, so I thought I was in pretty good shape, but boy did I feel a difference doing these exercises from my good knee to my bad knee leg! I will be doing these exercises DAILY until my surgery. And thanks for the reminder too about keeping up upper body strength!

    Mike as always your videos are excellent and you do them at a nice pace. This one is especially helpful as I'm suffering badly with pain in both knees and have had to cut back on my long walks so now I've added this to my exercise routine. Thank you so much

      You're welcome Angie! Yes these exercises will help and so should shorter distance walks... Break up the walks. Give more rest time. Once everything gets stronger, and the pain decreases you should be able to increase the distance. But do this gradually.

    No surgery in the offing right now. However, I do independent quad exercise several times a week in concert with leg strengthening exercises in your videos. My quads have majorly hardened since I started with you, Mike. I do have knee problems making sit to stands challenging, although I've advanced much in these and especially partial squats. Mine are between partial and full, quite an advancement for me. This is a great exercise. My legs feel a tad fatigued since I exceeded the reps in all of the parts in this routine, but they're happily tingling and feel quite strong! Thanks to this very thorough routine and demo. Please place this one in your go-to exercise compilation: it's not only a keeper but one I'll be returning to to keep my legs and knees strong...Anastasia

    When you say to work up to doing 2 or 3 reps, should you do 10 of one of the exercises you do here, pause, do 10 more for 2 reps or go through the whole sequence and then repeat? Does it matter?

      I have the same question. For instance, when doing chair seated leg lifts, would I do 5 leg lifts on each side and then do 2 more sets of those?

    Do these exercises “have to” be done on a bed? Can I do them on the floor? I have to keep a special pillow under my knees when laying dow as a flat knee is painful to bend.

    Hello Mike, although I am not having surgery on me knees I've got severe arthrosis on both knees. These exercises are phenomenal! Thanks. What I am doing is one of your 30/35 minutes workouts one day and the next the knee strengthening ones. Thank you again!

      Hi Mike, are these exercises ok for someone avoiding knee replacement ? I have two meniscus tears, I feel if I do exercise them in the correct manner, I won’t need an operation. Thanks Mike, your a great teacher 👍

    Help please, I started doing your senior exercises for walking up stairs, I feel my knees crunching, but do feel looser when I do them, just wondering if I’m doing harm to my knees seeing they crunch. Thank you.

    Hey Everyone, these are exercises to do for strengthening the knees in general also. If you get pain when doing the exercises, follow the tips at the beginning of the video, and gradually build up the amount of exercise you’re doing (both the number of exercises and the repetitions). - Mike

    These are great if you have had breast cancer surgery also! I can feel how 'awake' my muscles are ~ perfect for counter-acting nasty side effects from after-surgery meds. Just sayin' ...
