Hi... home exercise hack.....on the first exercise where you slide you foot up and back. A GREAT, cheap way to do that at home is to use Furniture moving sliders. They fit easily under your heel. Slide really well and are rough enough on top not to slip out from under your foot!!!!

    Dear Drs. Brad and Paul,
Now post full knee replacement 9 days. Retired here in the mountains of the Valencian region of Spain.
Before the op. I watched just about all of your lessons and found them so very practical and helpful so a very big thank you to you both. The humor makes the watch worth while even if you’re not having an op. Excellent medicine.
Following you post op. advice and knee very straight and bending well too .
Here in our small village our doctor and nurse come to us so twice a week I get to have dressing changed and checked up.
I had the op. in a private hospital but through the Spanish Health system due to Covid queues, excellent.
So thank you again for your dedication and service to everyone.
If you are ever passing this way and want a beautiful paella let me know!
    Gracias por todo, Rob.

I am 67 and had a full knee replacement on Monday, 17 August at 10.00 am and afterwards I found the major problem wasn’t the trying to walk, it was the getting in and out of bed to go to the bathroom that caused pure havoc, with the nurses doing their best to support my leg to the floor but I was fit to scream. Then I remembered you using the strap to support lifting the leg in the video and I looked around and saw the belt in my bathrobe which I quickly pulled out and wrapped it around the bottom of my foot as shown in your exercise video and I then personally, holding tightly to the straps, shuffled to the edge of the bed and managed to gently control my foot from the bed to the floor and on my return, lift it back into bed again. When I was discharged today at 9.00 am, Thursday, 20 August, 2020 ( 3 days in hospital) the hospital porter and my husband were stumped as to how to get me and “my leg” that is, into my husband’s Bakkie (4 wheeler truck). I had kept my belt, hereinafter known as, ”SLED” (Strap Leg Enablement Device) in my handbag and, whilst being supported by my husband, used it to lift my leg inside the cab who was then able to lift me gently onto the seat.
I cannot thank you enough, and anyone who has been through this operation and aftercare will understand how much pain and trauma this “simple idea” has saved me from. And now if you will excuse me I need to find my SLED, nature calls.....q

@@TalkingWithDocs In your second video you demonstrated using the foot on the unoperated knee to help move the leg out of bed however my unoperated knee is due to be operated and is also in bad shape so that procedure isn't an option. You should have shown how to lift the foot using a strap. Otherwise the exercises are fantastic and thank you.

The videos are excellent ! I just had a TKR on April 5th. I started these exercises 3 months before so my sugical leg was extended to zero degrees and bent back to 134 degrees. That sure helped with my post surgery P.T. and am already getting much of my strength back after 2 weeks. I bought an ice machine to circulate ice water around my knee joint too. Keep up with these great videos !

I hope you're recovering well. I just had my left knee done 2nd November, 2022. Amazingly, this one feels totally different and is healing faster than when I had my right knee done in 2020. I did an exercise program 1 year before I had my left knee done so exercising really helps before TKR.

You guys are SO AWESOME!! I just went to a PT yesterday for exercises to do before my total knee replacement. The PT gave me the exact exercises that you just showed! He also added a Hip Abduction Sidelying exercise. My knee is bone on bone and totally covered in bone spurs and I am so out of line that the layman can notice it while I am walking. I really enjoyed your video and I like how you make it light-hearted. Thanks!! You're the Best!!

Glad to have found this video. I am looking at knee replacement in April,’22. I had two bad falls , one before I had triple bypass last fall and another bad fall a month after. I had to wait almost three months before he would consider surgery due to a series of three shots over three weeks in my knee. Surgery is not recommended until three months have passed. So I have been in PT during this time. These six exercises I am very familiar with! I am 67 and can’t wait to be healed up and ready to enjoy my garden and the lake I live on,,,, once given the okay! I have had Fibromyalgia and a low back injury for 20 years now so the four deteriorating discs have made some exercises difficult.

Another excellent video - thank you!
It's good to stress how vitally important pre-op exercises are. I did them religiously prior to my TKR last August & as soon as I came round from the anaesthetic I started doing a circulation exercise, (legs out straight & alternate toes pointing forward). Gradually I brought in pushing my knees down into the bed, sliding my knee up & letting my knee slightly drop. Physios can always tell too who has done their pre-op exercises & who hasn't. Usually the first time you try to get out of bed will show if you have been 'good'. So if you wang a nice physio do your exercises! On occasions it does really hurt, especially after surgery & probably for about 2-6 weeks after but gosh after that apart from occasional twinges, usually because your new knee has been doing too much & not enough rest, you suddenly realise you're not taking any where near the amount of pain relief you did before! 😊

Had both knees replaced in the same surgery about thirteen years ago. I do modified exercises in the form of resistance exercises in the pool, and some stretching to maintain as much range of motion as possible. Not a surgery I care to go through again if at all avoidable, but will definitely be adding these back into the routine. Practicing with the video I can still feel the benefits! Thank you for these videos, they are spot on and a great reminder!

I appreciate these exercises because I do walk with a flexion contractor and it really does hurt to straighten the knee and it really does tire me out after a day of shopping at Walmart!! I’ve been to the doctor twice for the injection in the knee and will be returning after 2 months from the last injection to get another one (3) for a break from this pain. The injections really work for me till I can actually get the knee surgery. Thanks for this video. So much better than going to a PT or the doctor’s office.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

I am so glad I found this. I am going to have a knee replacement and my knee has been bad since 1976 when I was 18 and it has finally gotten to the point that I can't tolerate the pain. So I have babied this knee for 45 years and was wondering what I can do to have a better outcome. I don't have an appt. yet but want to give myself every advantage I can. So thank you, thank you so much.

Why I'm mad is my P.T did not do any of these exercises with me after surgery. They put a stim on me did some leg marches in a chair and kick outs f & b. Thats all they did 2xs a week. I will be definitely doing your exercises b4 surgery and im changing therapist for sure.
