The guitar part in this song is really outstanding. Unexpected harmonics?? Alternate tuning? The hammer ons are really smooth. This is one in a million
Incredibly gifted guy. The fact he has 3 genuinely brilliant albums at only 25 speaks volumes. He might very well go down as one of the great artists of all time.
santiago caballero nah, he hasn’t hit his peak and had his retirement yet, keep in mind the guys only in his 20’s, give it a few years and maybe even decades, and he’ll be legendary
I remember being a sophomore in high school and looking up to Archy. His music is so expressive and its all pure emotion. I guess we both grew up huh....fuck 9 years later already. Alot happens good and bad, and I guess that's what they call 'growing up'. Time seems to keep moving faster. Never lose your heart, still look up to u.
When I was sophomore in high school he released 6 feet Beneath, and now I’m just recently discovering him. I know 15 year old me would have loved it just as much as 22 year old me does now.
Whenever I feel sad I listen to this song. It doesn’t make you escape your feelings, just feels like a much needed someone to hug, sink into and feel protected. Listen to this live and I could die contently. Thank you for sharing Archy.
He’s really got the gift, this song blew me away first time I heard it, it’s one of those special songs that I listen to sparingly because I don’t want to ever ruin the sanctity of it. I think it will go down in history as one of the all time greats and it gives me so much hope that someone is still making music so significant and authentic. ‘Dum Surfer’ is another one of his genius compositions.
He’s so fucking young bruh I just realized I grew up with this guy. First heard this when I was 13/14 years old. Never will forget when I first heard this. Honestly very life changing (music wise) he is the sole reason for me understanding/appreciating rock music and the different alterations of rock. Truly an amazing artist, never ending goose bumps when I hear him.
This was the song that was playing that May night she ran inside to get her Polaroid. I sat in the drivers seat looking up at the clear sky and I think for the first time ever, I felt like everything was gonna be ok. I was so naive. But that moment and this song I will remember forever.
This is the true voice of a Rock bad boy. Not the commercial one we usualy heard everyday. This kid is simply a genius, a special row talent. He is the young man to follow in the future. Keep it up boy!
One of the best pieces of art ive ever seen. I first heard heard this in 2013 and I was drawn to it because of how different and cool it was. Now I listen to it with maturity and insight as I am now 27. It is beyond me how anyone could ever create something as emotionally intelligent as this at the age of 17. It really puts so much into perspective for me.

this song became an instant favorite of mine when back in 2016 and it takes me back to those simpler times in life just trying to discover new music as much as i could
it’s so weird to see so many people have almost identical experiences with this song… i was so depressed and i would fall asleep with my headphones in and i remember i woke up and this song was playing. truly an out of body experience. glad ur okay now :-) music is a beautiful thing.
This gives me a feeling of time gone by. Not exactly nostalgia, just the outstanding feeling of how sometimes we are oblivious to how all those times slips away.
Matt Villiott its Archie actually, krule is gone. No, it doesn't sound like Mac, but there is some resemblance between the style of music they both produce. They way they both go about their performances too are quite similar, the freedom and care free attitude on stage. Mac is a lot more in your face at a live set than Archie, and Mac has developed a sound which consists of off notes which allows him much more freedom when playing live as its not 'technically' considered music. I love both, don't get me wrong, but they're more alike than you would think
Can't believe this is almost 10 years old. I was hear when it was first uploaded and played this so many times along with the other early tracks, mostly under the King Krule moniker but this one was one I found when I went on a search for more tracks. Still holds up really well. Has a timeless rock quality to it.

Why I like King Krule so much is like a mystery to myself. Cannot explain it to friends either. It is a state of mind so deeply rooted. Like we are on the same drug, but I am not on any drug except red wine. His voice and guitar and his accomplices on sax and bass and drum connect with me. I am at least reassured that I am not alone.

This song finally made me realize that I’ll never have my dad again. No big smile no hug again. No shooting or talking and knowing he was the man and he’s got it. Got me losing it at 3 am. I’m a fucking wreck and I’m so lost. I don’t know what to do without him. I was so foolish and missed so many moments I wish I could have done something. I just want it back.

And hate runs through my blood
Well, my tongue was in love
But my heart, it was left above
I've gotta be leaving now
I thought I'd never be shut down
But girl, I'm black and blue
So beaten down for you
Well I'm beaten down and blue...
Don't break away
I'll waste away
Don't break away
Lay me out across the grey
Hours I should have kept at bay
I had no chance to get away
I can't escape my own escape
Even more when it's sweet to the taste
Red stairs lead sense astray
I look up and see for faith
But, girl, just lean over and say
Lay me down
Pull me out
Take my crown
Submerge the doubt
(Sorry)
But wait, I'll make my last request
See, this could be the best
But, boo, I need to rest
Well, I've been broken down
So much I's lost it now
I'll just stop and say
Girl, don't you worry 'bout a thing
