This made me think of my grandma's quote to me always....she lived just down the road from us and I passed her house each day walking to and from the bus. I LOVED on winter days when she'd be at the door motioning for me to come in for tea before heading home. I'd complain about this or that or my face breaking out. Grandma's quote? : "Well, you'd never notice it on a galloping horse!" (????) It's made me smile for many years. Even now in my sixties with everything starting to sag and droop......you'd never notice it on a galloping horse.... ♥
At 76 I can share with you that I spent most of my life happily doing for others, making things nice, easing, healing, supporting, loving, caring, making a gracious home, garden, family, career, and life. As a recent widow, I had to drastically down-size, leave my home, start over…but I do believe I am happier and more content than I have ever been, decorating my tiny new nest with thrift store treasures, bits of nature, and the pleasure of my simple life of solitude and peace.
I have moved to the granny flat behind my house and I'm still trying to reduce my possessions! I've spent 44 years in education, doing for others, always. I've just heard that I seem to have beaten cancer for a second time. This is now my time to look after myself and my cats and to make myself happy! Blessed are those who create beauty in this world.
@@jeannehunter5344 Good for you! Hygge is less about decor and more about a lifestyle with the Danish. How you live and what you do with your days is Hygge, not leaves and sticks and candles, however that helps with the atmosphere. I pray you continue good health and happiness.
This video hits home. I am mostly of Danish heritage. My grandma was born in Denmark and I miss her terribly. She was like a second mother to me. I loved going to her home as a child so much. She would serve me tea in a special little China cup that she had for me and we feasted on her delicious homemade Danish cookies. Her garden was smaller but magical, full of flowers including a stunning rose garden on the side of her home. She also grew a special type of raspberry that she turned into the most delicious jam you could ever taste. I used to sit on the little stone wall that my grandfather made and pick and eat those berries. When I think of my little Danish grandma I think of much warmth and love, flowers and lemon drops, her wonderful cooking, feeding the ducks at the lake and our special talks. She really did give me as you said Susan, a real sense of peace and happiness.
My happiness is in my backyard with my two golden retrievers.I’ll light up the little fire pit and have soothing music like Kenny G and I’m in heaven watching them play and being so happy. Some nights we start up the grill for dinner and have dinner out there too and both my fur babies will do the happy dance awaiting their special dinner. I think this time with them offers the ultimate peace and calmness in my life💗
I have a funny picture of my parents laughing together, tucked inside my medicine cabinet. Every morning I see my dear mom and dad looking at me as I start my day, and remind myself how lucky I am that I was loved and cherished by two wonderful people.
What a beautiful, marvelous idea to put a quote in a frame from someone you love. I'm going to do it! My mom passed away 10 years ago and I miss her so much. I lived with her for a time in my adulthood and before we would go to sleep she would say to me,"meet you at the coffee pot"I'm going to find a beautiful little frame with her quote in it and put it by my coffee pot, thanks susan!
I love that quote from your precious Mom! I'm going to do the same thing. Mom passed 3 years ago and I miss her so much. Mom has so many sayings and it will be hard just which was the best. So with that, I'm going to make many frames....here and there throughout my home. ♥️🌹😀
@@sammiemcdonald2209 let's do it sammy! My mom had a lot more sayings too, some that she got from her mom! My daughter laughs because she finds herself quoting me, her grandmother and her great grandmother!
Many things make me happy but for right now I am so happy for you and all these followers whose hearts you have touched and they share their deep feelings with you in return. You are very wealthy with a rich spirit and a life well-lived and still learning. Thank you Susan & Mr. Desi!
Three things help me with my happiness…spending time with my loved ones, lower my expectations of others, and be immensely grateful for this precious life I’ve been given.
Last winter I watched a lot of videos about Hygge and I just love the concept. To me it’s all about comfort and self care, as well as creating a beautiful, self nurturing and relaxing atmosphere. As a woman who took care of 3 children, a husband, a house, and had a full time job for many years, it’s been difficult for me to relax and take care of just myself. But, Hygge is helping me with self care. I decorate my apartment now with things that bring me joy. I treat myself to foods that I love. On a snowy day I make a cup of hot chocolate and sit at my window while I sip it and watch the snow falling and I savor the moment. On cold nights I put a fluffy warm blanket over my legs and read a book and have a cup of tea. I hope you’ll enjoy Hygge as much as I have. Sending love to you and Desi. ❤️☕️🫖
I bought myself a nightstand and dresser. First time in my 62 years I bought something I wanted. Plus, I ordered two new lamps. 😮 This is only the second video I have watched. Moved into a one bedroom townhome after living in a 3 bedroom Victorian home. Needed to move closer to my husband’s doctors. Very difficult to start but I was getting better getting rid of things. Still have too much. Going through things again. Long process! I’ll binge watch, this is what I need right now with the biggest transition in my life!😢
I found my happiness when I learned to let go of the small things that bother me and not put so much value in what others think of me because it only matters what I think of me! Giving myself permission to “let it go” was life changing. ❤ If the hokey pokey is what it’s all about then I’m on the right path! 😆 Take care!
Im with you, Christine. Ive found letting go of things that hurt, things that have made me cry, things that I have no control over. Letting all that go made me happy and knowing, Im of value no matter what what a few may think.
Im still working on that! I am a 60 yr old 1st gr teacher. The demands they put on us, just mire and more abd more, yet the students are coming in with less and kess skills and trauma. It is hard to let it go and not work every nite and wknd! No time to get it all done! I want ti reyire but I have a mortgage 😪
@@dianaschoen4485 First of all THANK YOU for being a teacher!!!! you are one of my heroes!! I kind of know the stress you go through. My daughter taught 3rd and 5th grade for 17 years right out of collage and is now in administration , she works 6 days a week and brings home work almost every single night, and has 3 teens too (all A-B students) ..... I lived with her 7 months last year, and felt so sorry for her and the challenges she faced, it saddens me what teachers go through. ...I just wanted to say Im thinking of you and all educators and how much you ARE appreciated. Please keep going, only a few more years 😘
Happiness…hmmm. For me at my age on this planet it’s more about contentment. I’m not wealthy by any definition. I have enough as to not to want or desire more. Life flows with a steady ebb and I am grateful to enjoy what graces have been given. I feel the comfort and warmth of your home. What a day we could have seeking out discarded treasures and renewing their gifts to us. However, I disregard the “no clocks”. The ticking of a key wound clock in the quiet of a room on a once remembered snowy night is a peaceful as I could ever want to be. ❤️ from Texas
My fur babies add to my happiness. But what makes my heart sing is a sweet random phone call from my 16 year old grandson! Priceless. Loved this video. Thank you.
You. You have helped make me happy. It’s no exaggeration to say that during my darkest times, your weekly video was the one bright spot of light and love. You showed me there is hope and a path forward, but I had to be willing to take the steps. I’m now several years into a life I wasn’t expecting, and living very happily alone. I’m unsure how I would have navigated the path here without you showing me how you navigated yours. The details are different, but the experience is the same. Thank you, Susan ❤
How I wish I can reach that point of living happily alone!!! I've been alone most of my life, I have a daughter, but she has her own life. I'm trying so hard to stay afloat, be happy alone, content, peaceful. How do you do it??
@@beulahbenade4098 Hi, me too have been living alone all my live....have 2 sons one living in canada, me in europe, my other son has his own live, wife and 2 kids....sending you love and hope, 💞🙏 Conny
Susan, You are our hero! You have given us great advice and guidance. You have led by example…… there is no better way. Thank you, Susan. Love to you and Desi ❤
I loved your message. I agree about women. We care for everyone putting ourselves last. Never giving up. Smiling through our inner pain. I am finally learning to love myself. Creating special pampering moments for myself. Very hygge! My favorite tea with honey, a lovely scented candles, a cozy throw, fresh flowers from my garden, a good book and something yummy preferable homemade but store bought is fine too! Be kind to yourself, love yourself. We are amazing, loving beings!💗
I love your grandfather's quote, but then I looked at my hands that were paint-stained from refinishing a table. I looked down at my bare feet, and then glanced over to the latest book I'm reading, "Ivanhoe", an 1851 treasure that I found at an estate sale. My secret to happiness is realizing that I don't have to follow the path of everyone else. I've recently taught myself to refinish furniture -- taking an ugly piece and making it beautiful. I grew up in a family that demanded perfection and I was far from perfect, never measuring up. Once I escaped the prison and realized that I can make my own path, not only was there a sense of relief, but the world opened up and blossomed into something that I'd never imagined.
What makes me happy is spending time at my home in Mexico, where I decorate, pick fresh flowers, paint, read, go for long walks and enjoy peace and quiet. I also love spending time with family and friends and play Pickleball. I love your positive attitude and lovely words of encouragement. Your videos make me happy, Susan. I am so glad you are feeling better😇🙏🏼
You are such an inspiration to me. You have become my Saturday nite date lol. I am currently living with my mother to help take care of her. When I moved in I was not allowed to integrate my decor with hers. So my bedroom is my place of solitude. Every where I look I see things that comfort me. My great grandmother's quilt she made, a set of drawers that my grandfather made, a collection of angels my mother has given me, a wooden box my grandson made, a picture of my dad and I being silly. Everything in my bedroom has a meaning connected to it. I love your thrift store finds. My favorite is the clay? pot that is a little miss shapen just like life is. My spirit would die if I had to be a perfect piece of something. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
My cat curls up at the end of my bed. My chair is right beside her. I check out my tablet and every once in a while l reach over and pat her. She purrs and those vibrations are incredibly soothing. I know that Desi does a lot to make your day better, so you understand what l am saying.
Susan, and you are our hero too. Watching your videos and reading the kind and thoughtful comments from your viewers is like being in a group hug. Thank you for bringing us all together 😊
I have been doing the same thing. Discovered thrifting a year ago. It has brought me so much joy, and boy, has it contributed to the hygge in my home. I moved into an apartment three years and was very sad about giving up my owned townhouse, but honestly, I have decorated it so much better with less space. It's so cozy, and more light, so I have plants that are growing like crazy, something that never happened before as it was very dark. I have found plant pots, teakettles,a painted ladder, some great framed pictures, just to name a few, mostly at Goodwill.
Susan, you bring me such happiness. Your video presentations are so professional, your editing so tasteful, your voice so calming. I do not know how you do it all but it must take up so much of your time, time that I interpret as the love you share with your followers. In Canada we are celebrating Thanksgiving at time to gather with loved ones and share those things we are thankful for in our lives. This year I celebrate alone, you see, my husband of 40 years past away in February. That is why your message that you share is so meaningful to me. Your kind voice, and gentle smile along your hopefulness is so refreshing. Thank you.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. My sister and brother-in-law just celebrated 40 yrs. in Sept. I cannot imagine one without the other. I really feel for you. 😔🙏🙏🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm battling to cope with loneliness and can just imagine how lonely you must feel. How doea one make peace with loneliness? I have no answer. I wish you all the best xx
We are so happy to hear you are feeling better. No fun at all-that’s such a painful condition. Thank you for this lovely video with beautiful thrift finds, scenery, music and precious Desi. ❤️🐶 Very early morning I sit with coffee, knitting and look out at a beautiful tree with my cats by my side. Appreciating another day!
thanks for another awesome message! You may remember back last March my sad post about husband of 35 years wanting a divorce. Wanted to share that this many months later...I'm doing great! You helped me realize that my life could be reinvented and how much I like men. And now I'm having such fun talking to men who want to talk to me and shower me with lovely words and attention. And now, I'm so grateful to my ex for releasing me from the commitment made by a girl, who didn't know better.
I'm a healer I have my sanctuary in my home where the peace is priceless and give me my healing hugs we all need that sanctuary never stop giving people hugs it's the most healing we can give each other my dog also has her little sanctuary because animals give us so much unconditional love we all need our sanctuary where we can heal ourselves so light your candles with a beautiful smell and lay and enjoy sending healing energy too you and your fur baby xxx
Women can stand on their knees & still get the job done. Women are my HEROES, also. My mom couldn't talk the last year of her life from several strokes, but she taught me so much that last year with her beautiful blue eyes. Oh, how I miss her & my dad, they were my world. You've created a beautiful fulfilled life for yourself.❤
When asking about what brings me happiness I find that watching your videos brings me so much peace and joy. :-) you have a gentle way and the lighting behind you brings a sense of peace. Thank you for all you do for all of us
Lost my husband of 48 yrs to Covid. Your videos bring a smile to my face. My faith in God sustains me. Bless you and Desi.I have two rescues that are my closest companions, besides my kids of course .
If you have a small place, you can make the entire place a sanctuary. Like you did. It must be hard to decide what room you want to be in. They’re all special spaces.
Your Channel should be required watching and listening for anyone who wants and needs to find joy in life through lifestyle and positive philosophical reflections. Thank you so much for all this
As a hairstylist for 40+ years I have learned so much from women, we are resilient , strong, kind and caring. I have watched your videos a few times and can relate so well. This video was so calming and cozy. I too like decorating on a budget, finding special items at thrift stores to refresh and bring a new look to our home for the seasons. Thanks for sharing with us!
I LOVE the idea of framing quotes from our loved ones…so special. You always manage to touch my heart. I’m so glad you are feeling better! Love to you and Desi 😘🐶❤️
I have to say the best compliment I received from my husband was that he wished to come back as my dog!!! To me that was the best!🥰 I love your videos, they’re just wonderful! ❤
Friends & husband have long said same to me. My husband knows dogs rule. In the early years he didn’t quite get it. I love, that now, he spoils them so.
Funny, my ex-husband said the same thing to me! I told him my dogs have always been loyal and loving from beginning to end. People, not always… And, like you, to me, that’s the best compliment ever. 💝
I just love your videos. Do you know how wise you are? I’m thinking you really don’t. Your Words are so soothing. And your Desi just makes me smile. I love your sense of humor and sassiness. You always uplift me. My main source of happiness is my faith in a loving God, and I sometimes hear His voice through you. Keep up these wonderful messages, and thank you. Oh, I’m 80 years old - I just love being able to say that.
Thak you so much Judy....I htink I know a little of what you talk about...that warm hand on your shoulder when you feel a little scared...:) it is one of the most beautiful thing of getting older..finding peace....my love to you always, Susan
I found the greatest happiness in making decor from items foraged in nature. My grandmother's quote to me was " Why go to an expensive store to buy wall art when you have God's blessings right outside your door". She taught me how to forage downed branches, pinecones, leaves, acorns, feathers etc... to use in crafting for the home. So rewarding and I think of her everytime I make something. Thank you for sharing the Hygge style...really enjoyed it!
I have to find hygge in my life on a daily basis in different ways and find the peace in a chore by myself. You see, my husband had a stroke 5 years ago. My life has changed being a caregiver and trying to find peace in small ways helps to keep my sadness at bay. I create art journals that have helped me a lot. I’m so happy to have found your channel! Thank youSusan, you are a breath of sweetness and positivity in a mixed up world!😘
For me, I wake up every day and make a conscious decision to be happy. And each night, before I go to sleep, I thank God for all the things I found to be grateful for that day!
I look forward to the weekend and your video. Your videos make me happy and calm. I love to see Desi “ not” eating cookies. Vicariously watching you thrift is fun too. I love your decorating style and how you create vignettes with various thrifted items. I love how you make something seemingly insignificant take on a new purpose and is treasured once again. My memories give me joy, reading with a hot cup of tea and caring for my rescued pets bring immeasurable happiness. Looking forward already to next week’s video. You bring so many of us so much joy . Thank you.
One of the things that brings me immeasurable happiness is to take at least a little time every day to Knit. It’s the colors and feels and makes. And I think hyggewmakes Desi happy 😂
I am happy when I see other people are happy, particularly if I have been able to do something that gives tbem joy. I LOVE to bake and cook for others.😊❤️
I loved this video on how to make a safe and warm place away from today’s confusion and chaos! I recently started to play the piano again. As a child and until I went to college, I loved the piano! I taught myself Tom play on my Grandma’s old upright in her parlor. We had no money but eventually my mother bought an old $5.00 piano from a farmer. Half the keys did not work but I loved playing so much I eventually was able to get piano lessons and went on from there to become a fairly decent pianist who accompanies our school vocal groups, played the organ for church, etc. Then my like got busy and I had a family and no piano. Now, at 71, I have an electric piano and have started playing again- all the classical pieces I once loved so much. My fingers are clumsy, my eyesight is not that great, but the peace in my heart soars! I now feel that excitement I once felt when I sat down to play! You never forget how to play and practice does bring results! My piano 🎹 has brought me a comforting place of peace and joy once again!
What a calming influence you have on us Susan! I envy your friends getting to share life with you, I bet you all have a fun time ! I lost my husband of 37 years nine years ago . I live by myself and had to find a new normal. I got back into cross stitching, I read lots of books, have lunch with my best gal pal. I too like you love the small lights, makes a home so cozy. I have the electric fireplaces and so love them when cool weather arrives. Sometimes I just turn up the music, thankfully I live in the country so I dont annoy anyone 😊. I do this at the young age of 70, it's just a number you know! You and Desi have a wonderful week, I so enjoy you both ☺️
Susan, of course the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about but I prefer to Blame it on the Boogey. I have brought so much of the outside in that I am now bringing the inside out. I adore my Boho Decor but it is easy to accumulate too much of it. Your lopsided pot is adorable. Love your videos.
Desi is such a cute little toot! I've been bringing the outdoors in for years! It makes me feel close to nature which helps me to be calm. To feel peaceful. A walk in the woods on a fall day, the smell of the woods.....I find it so relaxing. Susan, you are so fortunate to live near such beauty. Watching the water flow over the rocks & the sound it makes is nourishment for the soul. ❤
Another great video, Susan. You got me thinking again and it’s not a good thing. 😄 I truly believe us women don’t have a choice. We have to be strong even if we’re falling apart inside, even if we are broken. What choice do we have than grab the bull by its horns and fight it,raise our children by ourselves. Go out, find a job, make a living, hold a roof over our heads, keep going no matter what, and smile and look happy so our children have a happy loving childhood. Many times men bail out on us and there’s only one choice, to keep going. You are one of us, you made it because there’s no alternative, no magic happens unless WE make it happen. 🥰❤️🌺
Hi Denise, I feel exactly the same... I have countless blessings and am very grateful. But I'm not happy. Only at times. I mean there are things that bring me joy. But overall, I'm lonely and sad. That's surely not how we should live?? Wish I knew how to find everlasting peaceful happiness. All the best to you xx
Alrighty, here I am coming out of my cozy blanket for the first time after having watched your videos for some time now. Thank you for always bringing the calm to my busy body but also not forgetting to throw in a lil sas! You are amazing soul and want you to know that your weekly videos are very much appreciated! 😘
Walking in the woods has been my mood lifter since I was a child. I would take my siamese cat, Ming, out in the woods with me. If he wandered away from me,, he would yell and I would call back to him. He would come running back to me. Or my sister and I would go with a cousin in the woods at my grandma's. It is still one of my favorite things to do. I can't get enough of it. Blessings to you and Desi from Midas and me.
I discovered you last week and spent the next day binge watching your videos. I have to say, with the greatest respect, I am in love with your spirit and expression. I adore your cozy home and how you decorate. I wanted to say so much more, but this will get too long. I will just comment as I can in the future. What you said about women I totally agree. I do not know, nor have ever met any woman who sat/laid around feeling sorry for herself. If she did lay around it was because she was broken from being too persevering. Every single one always continued to plow on through pains, and heart aches, no matter what, they/we always get up and continue to move forward. Women are the strongest beings I have ever known. Too strong is their fault. That said, I will add some things I do: I bring in large tree branches and put them in large containers and will buy a few cherry blossom branches and twine them in. Because I'm in love with your twinkle lights, I will add some to them. I have twinkle every where else but not in my bedroom. 😕 I also use large tree branches to frame doorways. Friends say it is a Fairy land. Vegetable based tealights everywhere lighting up any dark corner. I have decorated my entire home to be primarily white, and pastels. I abhor strong colors. I take all my foods and store them in glass containers and add my own labels as I do not like commercials when I open the pantry. Everything is in glass, easy on my eyes and brain. And all cabinets have a light go on when I open the door. I use only natural essential oils and make everything I use myself with basic things such as baking soda, peroxide, alcohol, and orange oil. I will now start cleaning my wood with that orange oil :D. My bed is all flax linen and silk pillowcases. I have Himalayan salt lamps all over the house, over 15 of them. :D:D::D, they give the entire home a warm glow all day every day. And I love my faux fireplace as you do yours :D. I have two small water fountains with a small light in them for the sound of trickling water. I have plants and flowers everywhere. Have nothing you do not absolutely love and use everything you have. There is more, but I will stop here with one last thing: for your new teapot, I have a lovely recipe for my Strawberry Rose Cream Tea: cut up 5 strawberries and some dried rose buds and put them in your lovely pot. Add gently boiled water. Add organic cream and sugar to taste. I like to add drops of rose water for extra flavor. Pour into your most beautiful glass. Enjoy! I look forward to more. As others have said, You are a comfort and joy. Thank you, thank you for being you and sharing You here. You bring joy.
@@catherinedoherty9676 thank you. It is lovely, a proper sanctuary. as I do not leave my house, I don't like to, When I do, I just want to be back home. :D
@@LittlePoet You asked us what we did and I just shared a few things. I could write a book on this :D. It indeed makes me happy, and every day there is joy in it. But thank you for showing us yours and asking about ours.
Something really hit me when I watched your video. What's missing the most these days if you listen to decorators, is color! How can you have a beautiful peaceful nook that brings you joy if it's all grey? I love that you're not afraid to use contrasting colors, bright colors, soothing colors. Another thing that struck me was that you collect quotes from the people you love. Sometimes, we lie awake at night, going over the words said in anger or disappointment, and we beat ourselves up. Your idea of treasuring the loving words is much better. I'm going to try to remember them at midnight when sleep is eluding me. That's really beautiful. Love to you and Desi. xx P.S. I think you must have been Japanese in a past life. One of their views is that nothing in life is perfect, so appreciate the imperfections in everything.
Just my opinion, but I think your home is already Hygge! Because that's how you've designed and decorated! With all those things you talked about. It has a warm & cozy feel. You take such care to pick out whay you love and incorporate it into the design. My youngest son has spent half his life in addiction. Heroin. I would pray & pray for what I wanted for him. Every night I went to bed afraid the police would ring the bell to tell us he was dead! You simply can not live like that and have a happy life. So it occurred to me that I didn't always know what the universe always had in store for me. How could I be so arrogant to presume I know what was best for him. I started a mantra. Whenever I thought of him, I would say in my head "Bless him and keep him, make your light to shine upon him and grant him peace". The burden was off my shoulders. I had freely given it to a greater power. He's in treatment and doing well. I became happier. Acceptance is the key for me. Life has a way of working things out and all I can do is run my own race. Keep my side of the street clean. ❤
I am happy because I am grateful. I have a strong faith that I believe that when trials happen I ask for help from Our Lord and know He will see me through and teach me a lesson. I think you are a very kind soul and filled with depth to have spoken about women so strongly. I give Thankx for you! Many Blessings to You & Yours!
What makes me happy is my little dog Minnie ,I always felt lonely after my divorce but she has made me love my life now and our cottage I feel so free happy and independent. Thank-you for your channel look forward to your next adventure in the thrift store.
I just love your happy, peaceful videos! Your experiences, contagious smile, and determination are always so encouraging! Our little yorkie passed away around last november, and every night when I watch your videos, its so comforting to see little Desi and those big gentle eyes softly blinking at the camera as he almost falls asleep, and I would just love to reach out and pick him up! Thank you for sharing your and Desis life and spreading so much peace and joy. The world needs more of that.
Watching your videos makes me happy!!! Decorating, gardening, watching the birds makes me happy. My family makes me happy and watching my children grow and have their own families. Watching my grandchildren certainly makes me happy! 🥰😁 Thank you Susan and please give Desi a hug from me!
Susan, you are such a blessing. You could NEVER be a loser, if I have ever seen a winner it is you. You light up so many people's life. I love making banana nut bread and handing it out to friends. I fixed a little corner in my bedroom that I use to read my bible and listen to CDs. I get a lot of tips from you and I should say thank you. You are beautiful inside and for sure beautiful outside. Blessings to you and that little darling Desi.
Thank you for the tip on putting fairy lights into a vase for a soft light in a room. That gives me an idea for a gift for my friends. I think it's time for a visit to the resale shops in my area. HUGS
YOU! have helped me with my happiness!!! I, too, kept watching videos, listenng to talks by every sort of guru and I was not getting anywhere so I just quit! And somehow after quitting all the other stuff, I came across you! And that has made all the difference! I am enjoying life and it's about time because I'm 75!!! 😂😂😂 You make me smile...thank you!
Thank you Susan for encouraging ALL WOMEN to love THEMSELVES! It is so CRUCIAL to our mental & physical health! I so wish this new mind-set had been around when my mother was still alive. She so deserved feeling appreciated and respected! She was a beautiful and gentle soul, and just LOVED all things beautiful! Bringing the outdoors in is such an enlightening way to live that brings beauty, healing, and comfort! I am still dreaming of MY perfect house! I can just see me padding around on natural tiles with my bare feet, in a kitchen with stone walls and a fireplace! Just the thought of it reminds me of some place in the old country---when life revolved around Nature, great food and loved ones---till the end of time! Thank you for this video---and I think if it is convenient for you and Desie---it would certainly be an adventure for ME if you could keep in touch as you go through your moving process! It might even be of value for you to have something to look back on to remind you of all the different emotions that you will be transitioning through, as you make this long awaited dream come true! I am so happy for you---you deserve this blessing in your life, as you are such a blessing to others! 🤗
I agree with you, susan. I have a beautiful, remodeled office, i call my sanctuary place. I just love being in my room. it's warm, with a gorgeous view. thank you for your video, love to hear your voice, it's so soothing. a hug for desi. stay safe and well.
Thank you Susan! Your videos have made me happy since you started. I admire how you have survived and even flourished during your worst times. I am in a bad place right now and tonight I am thinking I want to be more like you.
I am on a journey to walk toward happiness. Four years ago I made my family move from a place where we were just trying to survive. Today we are all much happier. There were days when sitting in a chair was all I could do. One day I unpacked a gift that said " Choose Happiness". And my mission was from that moment on, whenever I had a choice was to do that. Whatever it was. Small things. BIG THINGS. In career & decorating and friendships. Wonderful, mysterious and difficult at times. Driving and enjoying seeing farms and fall leaves, talking with my grown daughters. SPA DAYS! Music always and forever! Your videos are one of my newest happy happenings! SWEET SASSY AND SO full of a fabulous range of living on your own terms! BRAVO!. Health & Happiness always, Patti😘

I love the song “ smile even though your heart is breaking. “ I try to live by that. Have a lovely week take care . Love Margie. From Australia 🤗💗😀
I love the idea 💡 of putting the sayings of your loved ones in frames👍👏making my home inside and outside my own is like my job, now that I don't work - it keeps me busy and I'm making the entire space my sanctuary! It's little and cozy, filled with treasures I find at the beach and at the thrift stores, outside are flowers of all kinds and a vegetable garden that I share harvest with my neighbors! I also always have a yoga room in my home, it's a spiritual peaceful place that I love! Sweet video 👏👍❤️
This week's video was so refreshing!! So true about us second-guessing ourselves. YOU have so much love and forgiveness in YOUR heart, Susan, and I have learned a lot from you. I see that I do have a bit of hygge in my house with my plants and some pottery and earthy things.. Wish I had better thrift stores around!! I do happiness with togetherness and sharing small pleasures. In late August, that is Paula Red apples!!
I found you a while ago when I needed that comfort wisdom and snuggles that you so selflessly share. I so look forward to seeing you and Desi💕 (with his big loving eyes and adorable overbite💕) on Saturdays after work when I can rest and whether it’s an exciting fashion show Or wonderful home, skin hair perfume and makeup finds or you sharing your life I always feel like your right here, a great friend🥰 You are a treasure and Thank you♥️
I like a clean lightly scented fragrance. I recently purchased Y by Yves Saint Laurent. Best scent I have ever purchased and is considered a men's cologne but can be unisex. It instantly puts me in a good mood and makes me feel fresh. Goes along with my love of clean sheets and freshly laundered comfy PJ's. I also like 100% cotton clothing. I'm 64 and things don't bother me like when I was younger. I like the trouble free mindset. Thank you for another calm and sweet video.
How you came from the bottom and where you are now amazes me! Your place is so beautiful and you are too! The flannel shirt really looks great on you sassy!
Thank you so much!!!! There are so many voices telling us what happiness is and isn’t.. simplicity, savoring the moments of life is truly what happiness is and looks like…♥️✨
Desi has such a beautiful and sensitive soul. It makes me believe he was reincarnated from a an old wise man to give you unconditional love. Our home is our sanctuary and a reflection of us. I read somewhere when coming in from the outside and opening your door you should feel a sense of relief and comfort. The old saying there is “no place like home”.
This was such an interesting and peaceful video. Love how you weave thoughtful words and scenes to just flow beautifully. Glad you are feeling better;). Great idea to frame special words from special people in your life. I have had different versions of happiness at different times in my life. Today, for example, admiring the beautiful fall colors on my trees. Brilliant yellows, deep purples, some reds coming through. Love the beauty. It's amazes me every year. Sending you and Desi love. See you next time!!!💞💞💞
Hello dear Susan!! Happy weekend!! Things that make me happy: watching you& Desi each week, obviously!! One special thing though, is my youngest great niece who’s three. Her laugh is infectious and never fails to make me happy no matter how down I get!! Being quiet by nature, a cozy corner with a good book, or watching an old black&white movie- these are a few things that truly make me feel happy!! I’m glad you’re feeling better after your illness!! Wishing you all the best!! Blessings to you and your family!!!😍😍😍😍
Your videos are very calming. You decorate your home beautifully. I love the idea of a quote rather than a picture in a frame. Living a simple life makes me happy.
Love how classy your home always looks! Your home never looks cluttered or old fashioned! You really have the gift! I love simple, soothing colours and really love the colour Geiger on my walls.Revnovated kitchen to all white with huge tall pantries and it also has a small handy desk. I hate clutter and just love your videos! Your hair is just lovely.
You truly have so many gifts. Specially for style and decorating. Also you have such a beautiful singing voice and soothing speaking voice. Your videos are wonderful. I look forward to watching your new and old videos. I feel fortunate to have discovered your and Desi’s channel. You do both being me joy, peace, laughter and brightens. Thank you both.💕💜💕🦋🌼🌷
Another wonderful video. I would have scooped up that mosaic glass candle holder soooo fast. It's the same rail fence pattern I have used in several of my quilts. Love the fairy lights in it. And little Desi always makes me smile 😁
I love this episode, women are quietly powerful. Your home is so beautiful. I’ve been told that when entering my home, it feels like they are getting hugged. I’m so glad you are doing these videos, I feel like a found a long lost friend. Great idea about a love one’s quite. My favorite quote from my Daddyo was this, I smile each time it floats in my mind. “Rome wasn’t built in a day!” ✨🙏
Volunteering and helping others brings me fulfilment….. I really do think it helps with depression. It takes focus off of you and puts it on others. It’s very healing and makes you feel so good. Also, nurturing relationships and keeping peace. Peace with God and with loved ones.
Linda, my heart goes out to you as you go through the “first time” cycle of holidays and events after your husband’s death. My dear husband of 53 years died suddenly of a massive heart attack at home three years ago so I understand your heartache. I still miss my husband each day but memories and friends sustain me. I dreaded the first Christmas without Alan but I stayed with my daughter and her family for two nights and was able to enjoy their company. I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this summer and dreaded going through surgery and radiation without my husband being there with me. I got through the time with the support of dear friends
@@LittlePoet Thank you. As I said I am doing well in spite of my loss and breast cancer diagnosis. Thankfully my cancer was Stage 1A, and I’m grateful for mammograms and early diagnosis. I am praying this will be the last of my having to deal with cancer. I am grateful for friends who have provided support and encouragement as well as my daughter and son-in-law. Your videos have been an encouragement to me as well. Bless you for reaching out to so many women each week.
I’ve discovered that for me, ditching the diet mentality is making me a much happier woman. I’m 67 years old and I’ve been on one diet after another since I was 13 years old. All the diets have done for me is make me heavier and unhappy. I’ve been reading a book, called “Intuitive Eating A Revolutionary Anti-Diet Approach” by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. I’m learning to be kind to myself and to treat myself with the same love that I treat others with. I’m learning to give thanks to my body, to take care of my body, to cherish my body and to pay attention to its signals. I’m learning that the by limiting or denying myself foods that I enjoy, such as pasta, bread, and even chocolate, I end up with cravings and an all or nothing mentality. So reading this book has given me peace and in turn happiness and a joy of life, something I haven’t had in years.
I love this story!❤
What if comment’s like yours were common on YT? Would we be better people? R.I.P. Granny.
@@susannovak8263 I miss you Susan!!!
oh How I love this!!!
Great quote and I imagine as a child I'd probably think grandma's been nipping at the sherry. LOL
Me too.
Beautiful!
Love that Kate
That's so wonderful!!!😊
What wonderful memories.
I think this time with them offers the ultimate peace and calmness in my life💗
Oh I love retrievers!!! Dogs are such a gift form God...Desi teaches me to be better everyday! Thank you so much or being here!!! Susan & Dez
Desi is all the “decoration” needed for homey comfort. No house would ever be my home without my pups. ❤️is a 4 legger word.
Oh Cheryl, thank you so much for tellin me this...I just love your Mom's quote! " meet me at the coffee pot"....that made my night!
Great saying and perfect spot. ☕️
Sorry, Sammie😁
Susan, I feel so content living alone. I know how to be happy and joyous everyday
Many things make me happy but for right now I am so happy for you and all these followers whose hearts you have touched and they share their deep feelings with you in return. You are very wealthy with a rich spirit and a life well-lived and still learning. Thank you Susan & Mr. Desi!
Truth spoken ❤
You, Susan are an absolute gem of a woman and Desi is so precious. I pray the Good Lord will bless you and yours abundantly!!
I join you in that prayer ❤
Amen, sister😂
Im with you, Christine. Ive found letting go of things that hurt, things that have made me cry, things that I have no control over. Letting all that go made me happy and knowing, Im of value no matter what what a few may think.
@@kitmason2718 ❤

I love how you are always helping us see all the small beauty in life
Susan, and you are our hero too.
Good for you! Im going thru the same thing.😊❤️
Thank you.

Oh thank you for this....beautiful words of inspiration to make our life so much better!!! I love you!!!
Your Home sounds Beautiful.

Can we see some pictures? It sounds Amazing!!
Love to you and Desi. xx
P.S. I think you must have been Japanese in a past life. One of their views is that nothing in life is perfect, so appreciate the imperfections in everything.
Lovely!
HUGS
Happiness is a clean house. When my house is clean and tidy I can think clearly and relax.
YOU! have helped me with my happiness!!!
Being at the ocean is my most happy place! 🐕🙏❤️
Sending much love and heart upliftment to you💖💖💖
May blessings replace your bad place, dear❤
BRAVO!.
Health & Happiness always,
Patti😘
I adore this video! I do an annual Hygge night in my Women's Ministries every year. We all look forward to the cozy comfort.
My dogs make my day. They are special angels to me.
Thank you once again for your joy , I love that you can laugh at yourself.
I love to laugh, I love to smile and greet people say hello to someone walking down the food isle while grocery shopping.
I love the song “ smile even though your heart is breaking. “ I try to live by that.
Have a lovely week take care .

Thank you Andrea Benson so much for being here! xo Susan
Desi fits in your pretty decor perfectly. He looks so cozy and content.
I so look forward to seeing you and Desi💕 (with his big loving eyes and adorable overbite💕) on Saturdays after work when I can rest and whether it’s an exciting fashion show
Or wonderful home, skin hair perfume and makeup finds or you sharing your life
I always feel like your right here, a great friend🥰
You are a treasure and Thank you♥️
I like a clean lightly scented fragrance.
Decorating my house makes me happy, but being with my family makes me deliriously happy, also your vidio's.
Thank you both.💕💜💕🦋🌼🌷
Thank you so much for such dear kind words...you touch my heart and enrich my life! xo Susan
Oh, your videos are like a warm hug, a calm break. I look forward to all of your videos.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day!”
✨🙏
And my faith.
Oh Kathy...I am so sorry for your loss and all you have been though!
