@@AlanHope2013yes she has the ability to take a viewer back to a moment of quirky slapstick humor...and she does that in a very feminine graceful way in this song as well
Her sense of fashion is one of the most amazing things she brought to the Hollywood business. And look at her, she's 71 and still got it, rocking a minimalist and futurist version of her Annie Hall look. LOTS of new actresses should look at her and learn about how to construct an image and persona that lasts for ever. She's truly an ICON that forever be remembered as a amazing artist.
In a world of celebrities, Diane Keaton is a true artist. Thank you for the wonderful movies and the example you set on being yourself. Love you Diane❤
Am I the only person that thinks Diane looks stunning here. She looks so happy and full of emotion she’s just glowing. I love her and I’ve been waiting for her to receive this award.💞💞💞
She just lifts my spirits so much. What joy to see her and singing that tune she sang in Annie Hall, the film where she captured my heart. So humble, honest and terrific. AFI, great choice!
Woody Allen is brilliant... You can hear him say after the hug, pointing at the award: "Shall I put it right on eBay for you?" I know lots of people don't like him because of his (never proven) private scandals, but you gotta admit that he's a brilliant comedian.
Yeah, that long documentary on his is just fascinating, he started writing jokes for a newspaper I think, loads of jokes he has written, very prolific fella.. the fact that he does 1 film per year at his age is unthinkable. At not bad films at all! Who the hell can beat that?
True! Some of his films from the 21st century are among his best, like Match Point, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris, and Blue Jasmine. Of course, not every film is a masterpiece, but he is still going strong. I'm always anticipating his films, and he seldom disappoints me.
Oh my god ! The great great Great Diane Keaton. If only he knew how much he made us dream about his films. I think there are things that happen in life that are inevitably know, and that she knew Wody was one of the most fabulous things that could happen in the lives of both and that has remained as a gift through time in films that they starred together. thanks Diane for making us dream about them.
Love how everyone (except Reese) looks so humbled and emotional at her presence. Only few actors could command that level of respect. Diane is a one of a kind. Truly deserving this.
Watched “Annie Hall” (with watery eyes)for the 1000th time after hearing her sing that song Thank you Diane Keaton . You are a treasure and the movie love of my life , I’m not embarrassed to say 😢❤️
WOW !!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant, from my # 1 favorite actor. Diane is so talented , intelligent, classy, just nothing but respect for her do I have. Her style is fabulous, all her own, looking at her ageless presence gives me warmth and chuckles as she downplays this fitting tribute. The song (tears ) was just as marvelous as she is.... Thank you Diane for sharing with the world your enormous gift.
diane, lily tomlin, merryl and jane fonda, the fun four forever! ps: i looove diane keaton in something's gotta give. one of my top three favourite films.
it's particularly poignant and touching that Keaton chose to end her acceptance speech with the song, "Seems Like Old Times", which she also sang so memorably in Allen's firm, Annie Hall in 77.
I think that these kinds of events allow very successful artists to expose their vulnerabilities and you can see the connection in the faces of their peers in the audience. they know of what you speak, or in this case, sing. wonderful.
She wants her voice in this moment to be as honest to her friends and peers as possible, and that a speech would only trivialize or commercialize the moment... So she decided to sing, hoping it would touch each person. I think she accomplishes that sincerity
Diane Keaton [ richly deserving of the AFI Life Achievement Award] must also receive a prize for endurance in view of her ability to sit at the testimonial for approximately three hours during the taping of the event, in a turtleneck sweater, a three quarter length belted coat, gloves and a bowler hat. There must have been portable air conditioning units underneath the dais.
That song was really sweet she's a sweet lady I loved all her movies I understand what she means about it's very hard to say thank you to everyone cuz she just loves everyone to pieces. So to entertain what is song is appropriate congratulations Diane.
I like her sense of fashion. Just like some of the woman characters on A girlfriend's guide to Divorse....Some of those men actors dress casually nice as well on same show. And of course A huge Applause to Peter Morgan writer of the Crown.....Season 1 has been amazing so has some of Season two......
absolutely adorable and well deserved! we LOVE Diane K and only wish she did more stuff with Woody :( - anyhow we have spoken about her quite a bit in #woodyallenretro
So freakin unique. Her physical features are apparently beautiful enough to qualify her as a conventional blonde bombshell. But the clothes, hat, her personality - esp smile - totally annihilates the bombshell aura, lol
It's astounding that over 50 years, the AFI Life Achievement has only been awarded to only 11 women (surely women are responsible for more than 22% of film's advancement as an art form): Bette Davis, Lillian Gish, Barbara Stanwyck, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Shirley MacLaine, Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton.Julie Andrews, Nicole Kidman.
EVERY human being was touched by that brief song and that moment.
Yeah. she's an artist.
I cried a bit, I must say..
She's not a singer, but she has the whole world at her feet in that moment. Look at Steven Martin's face.

I had the chance to meet her shake her hand and tell her she is America ambassador of style
She looks like R2D2 in B&W
There's a reason she stays covered up. Style doesn't have a lot to do with it. It's necessity.
@@lindawilliams429 well. She’s never been fat a day in her life. And any weight she does have on her is a result of aging.
so, so sweet. by the end of her song the tears were pouring out of my eyes. congratulations, diane. you're a treasure.
me too!

You can tell she is very nice and real. I always liked her acting roles!! drama to comdey to romantic.
She just lifts my spirits so much. What joy to see her and singing that tune she sang in Annie Hall, the film where she captured my heart. So humble, honest and terrific. AFI, great choice!

Diane is so special.
I'm grateful for her movies and her lovely and unique personality❤️
Living epitome of woman of substance. All things graceful a woman can be.
Who is chopping onions? Diane, you fabulous woman, I am crying, that song is so moving, and Woody's speech, what a generation!
Love how everyone (except Reese) looks so humbled and emotional at her presence. Only few actors could command that level of respect. Diane is a one of a kind. Truly deserving this.
What do you mean? Reese was crying, shut up
She was looking teary eyed and moved.
I'd like to leave this world listening to her singing.
What a classy, beautiful woman...
Yes. I adore her

I have always loved her! She can make you laugh and make you cry. She has such a positive energy that radiates into the Universe.

Remember her singing that in Annie Hall and Paul Simon came onto her after that.
Inmense, talented, creative, marvelous, unique Diane.
She was so 'Diane Keaton' in this. That's a good thing!😀
Did anyone else tear up?
(Goodness, what is wrong with me?)
I just love her when she started to sing my eyes teared up how silly but they were tears of just love and joy seeing her
Awesome actress
The song was very touching!!! She is just amazing now and in the past!!
Diane Keaton is so unique. I am such a fan.
GOALS! Being like Diane Keaton when I am 71. A real role model for young women. Love-love-love
The song she sang in Annie Hall. Made me cry. =) Such a original actress, always loved her style.
I think that these kinds of events allow very successful artists to expose their vulnerabilities and you can see the connection in the faces of their peers in the audience. they know of what you speak, or in this case, sing. wonderful.
YAS DIANE😭😍 still sounds good!

Who else could stay 20 at 70 and beautiful?
It's about time! She is an amazing Actress and one of my top Favorites.
Annie Fu%$in Hall....legend.
Annie Hall--STILL QUOTABLE...after all of these decades.
That movie was the perfect comedy.
That made me cry. Wow. Did anyone else see Reese tear up too?
Not gonna lie it warmed my heart seeing her and Woody embrace. Those two made magic together,
Magic...
She’s a trip. I love her.
The older she gets the more she turn into Anny Hall in real life :-)
Historic moment !!

Belted Loveliness..............!!
Amazing!! 💖💜☝💜💖 I love you all so much! Thank you for everything!!!
I love love her
We love you
Singing without any backup whatsoever requires immense talent and courage. Only a truly gifted do-re-me-fah-la-trix could perform so well. ;)
Esto quedó para la historia!! mis genios favoritos 😊😊💛
Love this woman such an inspiration xx
What an angel 👼 ❤️
Please tell me if there's a place on the internet where i can watch or download the full show...
Class act. Absolute class act.
Wow.
She's the coolest..Hands down
Where the heck is Al? I know it ain't right but I ship them so bad, god damnit!!
I like her sense of fashion. Just like some of the woman characters on A girlfriend's guide to Divorse....Some of those men actors dress casually nice as well on same show.

Best acceptance speech ever

Her annie hall has got to be in great female perfomances of all time... because it was real tough part
3:03 MY KAWAII BABY
can we see the whole show it self
absolutely adorable and well deserved! we LOVE Diane K and only wish she did more stuff with Woody :( - anyhow we have spoken about her quite a bit in #woodyallenretro
Maybe not the most appropriate place to say this but May.....Carrie (lili) Fisher R.I.Peace and her mother Debbie Reynolds.........
So freakin unique. Her physical features are apparently beautiful enough to qualify her as a conventional blonde bombshell. But the clothes, hat, her personality - esp smile - totally annihilates the bombshell aura, lol
I wish it were possible to find the entire introduction from Woody Allen
It's astounding that over 50 years, the AFI Life Achievement has only been awarded to only 11 women (surely women are responsible for more than 22% of film's advancement as an art form): Bette Davis, Lillian Gish, Barbara Stanwyck, Elizabeth Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Meryl Streep, Shirley MacLaine, Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton.Julie Andrews, Nicole Kidman.
💖💖💖
Woody only had to talk to her for ten minutes to create Annie Hall!
Talented but borderline bonkers, i think that goes hand in hand.....
Norwegian Woods lmao. Well said. What I would not do to be an invisible person tagging along when Allen & Keaton are taking a walk together.
this is watching the end of Hollyweird, and of course the 'guard' of talent.
2:49 who’s she??????? Is she crying????
Compare this with Jimmy Cagney's speech in 1974
Alvy and Annie together again
omg it's kay
Reese is crying.
Not me!
:)
They should honour woody allen too although he doesn't care
Phoebe Buffay at 70
she is a nut case sometimes 😂😂
That's fine. Everyone has "nut case" moments. At best, she wasn't drunk (or maybe a bit?) when she gave her lovely speech.
