    I bought this mitre saw in June 2014, and I remodeled my basement with it. It it sturdy and it works great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxKL3MYO42eA2JbKxs7_Q0tmRGZI4Ow4Ar . There's not a lot of extra play in the adjustments and it is definitely well built. It is lighter than higher-end sliding double bevel models, so I can move it myself, which is nice. When I had to cut 2x10 lumber, I had to flip the boards over and cut twice; but since most of my cutting was on smaller dimension lumber, the weight reduction and significantly lower price seemed to be a better trade off for the boards I did have to flip. Late in the project, I was able to borrow a DW718, and the sliding feature does make fast work of 2x10s, but it is a tank, and I stand by my choice of the DW715. I also added a laser guide (one of the arbor replacement style sold on Amazon), which is nice to have, but definitely not needed.

    Sir, your skills and dedication are beyond reproach. Another first class restoration. As an aside. I wish I had had your bearing puller when I was working. (I've been retired for many years now) As it would have made things a lot easier. Thank you for sharing !

    Nicely done with 2 very good points. You didn't reuse the ball bearings and you greased the bolts and screws during reassembly. Bravo

    Great job, except one thing that I hate: You do what almost all people dealing with motor commutators do. You clean out the great protective “patina”. After that, you consume another great part of the carbon brushes to rebuild it. It would be a good thing to clean the slots between the lamellae with something soft like a tooth pick. That removes the carbon dust that accumulated during the first patina build. You need the space for all the carbon that is pulverized during the new patina build.

    • @nasibullinvk
      @nasibullinvk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ремонт инструмента с целью перепродажи не выгоден. зачастую стоимость комплектующих для ремонта сопоставима со стоимостью нового инструмента. заменить разбитый подшипник это одно, а полностью перебирать инструмент нет. тем более ты всё равно не сможешь перепродать его как новый.

    Before fastening the earth screw, I would seriously sand the body part below where it attaches to make sure contact to metal is perfect, and then put some conductive grease such as copper grease (or battery contact grease) so that the screw embeds in the grease contacting the sanded metal of the tool body

    Please do not replace a shielded bearing with a sealed one, Hitachi had a reason why to use a shielded one..
    Also, consider degreasing (spirits or silicon remover) the parts before priming to prevent those clouds in your paint.
    Other than that - great resto, enjoyed watching! :)

      Agreed. I've worked for a bit in the industrial industry and am hoping @gear show isn't going back in there to remove rubber bits and install new bearings at some point. Shielded was most likely for the high speed application and friction issues. Also agreed, awesome work otherwise...I wouldn't have attempted this and have done worse on my own diy stuff so who am I.
