- Fishing a stretch of river for topwater smashin' smallmouth bass! On this trip I have a new little wasp crawler lure to try!

Especially when it comes to aiming their helmet or head strap cameras. You always have it pointed at the fish and not straight out off the end of their boat while the reeled in fish isn’t even on camera after they’ve boated them in.

What an idyllic little jaunt, terrific views, and of course tremendous fish in the clear river. Nice pinpoint casting and boat handling demonstration pays off handsomely. This channel has beautiful fishing trips. Thanks for all that. I'm thinking that many city-dwellers such as myself would find it a rare day indeed to be able to even find such a spot as this wonderful river. Those smallmouth bass are just kicking around whacking things.

I just noticed him getting ahold of that line quickly after getting them in the net and keeping the fish vertical. I assumed it was to keep the hooks out of it as much as possible and definitely took a mental note.

I don't think I've ever seen you fish that river before. It is very much like the Lehigh and Schuylkill Rivers I fish in Pennsylvania. Great rivers, but there is no way to paddle back upstream so I need someone to pick me up. River bass are the BEST! Great video, as always.

Great video, great trip and I love the smaller lure choice. Its a nice 2.0 to the Crazy Crawler and really gets attention from smallies and largemouth. I was really hoping that first cast fish wasn't the hex. Thanks Matt
It's nice seeing someone focus on the smallies, most go after the largemouth, I myself prefer small mouth bass, they seem more aggressive and do get quite big

You just know you're going to have a great day when the fish hit your lure on the first cast. If this little lure works this well i assume they make a larger size & as Matt catches everything in the places he goes that would nail some nice Pike & maybe some Muskies as well.

Spinning gear, 10 lb. Mono and a little crawler like that can be quite enjoyable in the right situations...i really like the little crawler from Megabass (can't recall the name at the moment)...great baits for river/creek fishing especially

This guy is the best I just went out to fish today after 10 years and lost 3 baits and got my line tangled in a tree almost pulled some fish but line kept breaking idk why never had that happen before 😭
If the line was 10 years old you probably just need some fresh line. I’ve seen mono sit a year or two and lose most of its strength, especially if the sun shines on it a lot.

I’ve been there a few times before but it’s a lot of paddling to get there and the water was so low last summer there wasn’t much for fish up on the river.

I don't have much of a problem getting the right/left aim of my casts to go where i want them. My distance control is a problem. I clank my lures (and usually snag them) on the banks or docks, or leave them way short because of the previous cast that was too long. This guy throws a cast and says "I want it riiiiiight.... There." Every time.
I use this on Australian bass! This is the best lure out there
I caught a smallmouth one time on a Spin-a-Dee-Dee topwater lure. THAT was fun!
