It’s time for a 🇯🇵 vs 🇺🇸 drag race!
We’ve got Mat in the all-electric Tesla Model X, and he’s going up against one of Japan’s hottest, most powerful exports - the Nissan GT-R NISMO!
It may be a wet day on track, but this should still be an explosive drag race! So let’s see how they compare…
The Model X comes equipped with two electric motors, which combine to put down an awesome 670hp & 970Nm of torque. It needs all that power, though, as this is one heavy EV, tipping the scales at 2,572kg!
On the other hand, the NISMO is much lighter, weighing in at 1,700kg. It’s a bit down on power, though, with its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 600hp & 650Nm of torque.
So what do you think - will the Model X walk it? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

I love GTRs, they are incredible, an iconic beast from Japan. And still it might be more reliable than normal cars from other manufacturers. Nismo is a serious monster. I love them. ❤
Yeah they might be more reliable than junk made newer M/AMG/RS cars but they aint reliable mate they chew brakes up and the transmission is a nightmare it needs new oil all the time, they are a pain tbh but yeah the German junk is worse.

Even compared with a near 700hp electric SUV, the GTR is still crazy fast hehe 😃👍. It's a shame the R35 is ending production in Europe though. It's still a cool car 😥

@@carholic-sz3qv yeah, they need an actual FAST Suv to compare. Teslas all have no top end, even Plaids aren't that fast over the half mile.
@@wolfgangbarrio5043 both X and S plaid have garbage top speed, it’s quite ridiculous that over 1100hp vehicles can’t reach 200mph where as a 960hp Audi rs7 has recently reached over 226mph( not top speed) the 640hp Bentley flying spur has a top speed of 211mph what a monster that vehicle in comfort and style.

Absolutely surprised! GTR is my dream, but I completely expected it to get dusted by the Tesla all day long, but it worked some wonders out there.

That hand built ,twin turbo v6 is a force. The Gtr builds power around 4000 rpm so in a race it's best to use the paddle shifters and let it rev high. Overall good show

Cars like the Gt3, t50 and Valkyrie feel like the only super/hypercars nowadays which haven’t made their cars for 0-60 times or straight line performance, but emotion and cornering ability, and look how much people love them.
@@williampowell9013 Spot on! The 992 GT3 is a halo car with around 500hp. You can barely get your hands on one, I've checked with several dealers.
TBH it's still blazing fast in a straight line, and as a street car you could never exploit its performance.

@Jishan don't underestimate EVs. This shows one of Nissan's best road performance cars, albeit 15 years old, vs a 7 seater EV family car that with impressive performance. It gave the GTR a run for the money for 1/4 mile althoigh it was wet. Most buying an Tesla X will use it as an everyday family car!
There's are EVs with much better performance than a stock GTR Nismo!

@@catalintimofti1117 I think for many the whole 'family sedan/SUV' wow factor thing is done. We get it - high torque direct to wheels is vastly more efficient than the mechanical complexity and losses of ICE - period. Tesla just happens to put family cars on top.
What's really impressive now is purpose built EV Supercars like Nevera.
And of course 'built' ICE race cars that still slay Teslas

As a GTR owner, I never drive it in auto. Sequential shifting through the gears makes it a waste of time in a kickdown. Great to see it still hauling once in the right gear/power band

I have a GTR. I wasn’t expecting anything different from this video! FYI all you battery fans, the Plaid isn’t even in the 2022, 20 fastest cars. Electric is quick, but it’s isn’t fast, if you know what I mean?
