    *I and my wife want to say that this learning program is absolutely amazing **Childent.Study** We especially like the fact that our kids can record themselves sounding out the words. We also love that the program teaches beginning, middle, and end sounds, so that the little learners can see and hear how a letter and its sound can be used in different places of a word.*

    we see reading instruction at an early stage in children. We are shown the steps to properly teach them how to read words.
    1. Teach vowel sounds
    2. Stop at the vowel sounds
    3. Read words to class
    4. Teacher says the sounds made up to the colored letters.
    5. Students repeat every word sound said by the teacher
    6. Corrected teacher
    7. Timed reading
    I think each of these steps is important, in addition to correcting the mistakes of the teacher, because the child can get confused.

    I have used this program and it works! I am an experienced teacher and feel strongly that Richard has found the key (pun intended) to reading success. If you are homeschooling your child and have not found success with programs like Hooked on Phonics then you should try ReadingKey! It uses memorization techniques not found in other programs.

    What is the advantage of memorising sounds or grouping words according to sounds, bearing in mind there is almost no significance to the ? I don't see the advantage of step 2 either. My Japanese students have no problem reading regular English spellings. Perhaps because they have been taught like this?

    • @genepressinger3171
      @genepressinger3171 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Tim - While students learn consonant sounds quite easily, they have a difficult time learning vowel sounds such as - short-e - ou - etc. By grouping words into vowel sound categories, this gives more exposure and therefore increased learning. The STEP 2 stop at the vowel sound is the magic behind the program and the most important step. By learning to read - Up to the Vowel Sound - students can use this strategy with all future words they encounter.

ReadingKEY Lightning is similar to this but is done online on the computer. RKLightning also includes a an ongoing book that has students read two pages that uses only words from the list (plus previous list words). This means that the student will be able to read the book without any difficulty. You can see this at keyacademics.net - You can sign up using the FREE TRIAL link.

      Hi Josephine - I have a new program that works even better for teaching children in a one-on-one tutoring setting. It is called ReadingKEY Lightning and teaches the 520 most common words in early elementary textbooks. Depending on your students reading level this might be a better option. RKLightning is designed for children reading below a middle second grade level. You can see this at keyacademics.net - there is a free trial available and gives access to the program in the video and the new ReadingKEY Lightning. keyacademics.net

    While the presenter might be entertaining, he does not provide students any strategies for word solving on their own. Further, damp is a horrible example for teaching the short a sound since the vowel sound is influenced by the m.
