      All Nigerian Recipes Hi do you leave the coconut oil in your hair? I don't know why but when I use the liquid form it irritates my scalp. So the only way I can use it is by putting oil in my hair the night brfor wash day.

    there's hundred even thousands video about Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) but almost all is fullish video, but your video is Real DIY VCO,
    many people even doesn't understand what is the meaning "Virgin" in Coconut Oil, so they put all video about how to make it by cooking Coconut Milk,
    Virgin it meaning non heating/ non cooking Coconut Oil,
    this is awesome video, hope so there's no miss understand again about VCO.
    thanks for your great idea to chilled it in the refrigerator before processed to be oil,

    • @AnochZS
      @AnochZS 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      No! The meaning of "virgin coconut oil" is that it starts with fresh coconut and not copra. These are the methods that can be used to separate the oil from the water to make virgin coconut oil: boiling, fermentation, refrigeration, enzymes and mechanical centrifuge. The method that she used in this video was refrigeration. There is no such thing as extra virgin coconut oil, it is just the same with virgin coconut oil. Hope this helps :)

    Lovely video. I made mine last year and tried using it for my hair like I hear people say but I got the greatest shock of my life. It made my hair as strong as almost iron. I regretted and that as the end of coconut cream for me. I immediately turned it to oil and used for my skin.

    That was awesome. As a child In Jamaica we would boil down the coconut juice with salt fish or makerel and color it with anatto seed. Then we would eat it with roast breadfruit or boiled banana. It was plate licking good! We used it for hair oil, face cream and body lotion.

Even some moi moi . She was so shocked and told me now on instead of paying big money for her lotion she depends on me making it now :) ṣeun fun awọn fidio rẹ

Out of 2 nuts I have now 3 big filled yars ! before I use to have just a little bit like a few teaspoons ! It got already hard on the water once I squeezed that chaff ! Couldn't believe my eyes and that smile opening that fridge ? :D yup big one because after it was chilled it had a BIG THICK layer on top ! So did it how you did and got like really much . And I kept the coconutwater for Nigerian dishes !! Can't eat better ! thank you so much ! you rock ! xoxo

    Hey Mama!! I ve been missing you so much! I have done this years ago before I started to vlog and used as a base for anti-mosquito body cream. I added vetiver essential oil into that and it worked very perfectly at that time. Been too lazy to continue making it for myself and forgotten until I ve seen this video of yours!! love it!! If you allow a "child to teach a mother how to make babies" I would advice you to use the cheesee making wooden press to squize out all that coconut water just overnight or within a few hours. Just with caution of using a chifon cloth or a thick gauze for it because unlike cheesse this oil my not hold as solid in that press. As you are making alot of it for hair and other purposes I hope this tip will be useful!!
    I hail you as always this is a wonderful video and I am waiting for that coconut flour video!!!

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that mosquito repellent info. I will look for the vetiver essential oil.
      lol @ child teaching mother to make babies! Not at all, we all learn from each other. Those looking to make virgin coconut oil in large quantities (possibly for commercial purposes) will definitely find that great info you shared helpful. Thanks for sharing. :)
      But what else can the cheese press be used for? I ask because you know me very well, any kitchen equipment that I will not use very often does not come into my kitchen. :D :D

    • @OyinboNwunyeCookingChannel
      @OyinboNwunyeCookingChannel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All Nigerian Recipes Akamu! Definitely akamu. You know when you are squeezing the final water from akamu with your hands or press it with a heavy object? Thats the moment to use cheesee press. Not to mention cheese itself!! Basicaly all proucts which need that final water squeeze will use the press. Butter also, if you making yours at home (I do, with a BLENDER :D) Its also great for shaping products into blocks, like butter again, or even that same akamu will have the final block shape like a big butter cube. :D :D Mama me be small pikin in d kitchn compare to u so i no even feel comfortable giving ur lessons! U r Nigerian food GOD and you thought me alot of things!! xx

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nwunye, thank you! You've given me some pointers from this our discussion. Virgin Coconut Oil is something I make quite often because I use it a lot. So with your tips, the next time I make it I will tie it up like akamu in a muslin bag then place my heavy Nigerian mortar on it like I did in my akamu and cassava fufu videos so that all the water will seep out.
      But chai! My nwunye ... you pass pesin o! I do not make lots of things at home as often as people think. Eg Akamu, grinding it with my blender is not something I look forward to. I prefer the heavy duty machines found in Nigerian markets; so that task is reserved for Nigeria. I think the last time I made akamu from scratch was 2 years ago. :D
      For butter and cheese, I don't think I will ever make those LOL, we don't even eat those two that often. Well done o!

    • @OyinboNwunyeCookingChannel
      @OyinboNwunyeCookingChannel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All Nigerian Recipes Its my pleasure!! Sure its a great idea not to buy the chessee press when u r not these diary eater :D replacemen with just a bowl ad a heavy object will do the job properly, too! I am just the one who loves all these gadgets.. lol if i could i would buy all these gadgets in the world and make sure to use them in my kitchen, hahaha :D
      For this ur akamu i dont even beieve u, u seriously seem to be cooking at least 3 things A DAY, lol!!!
      We now moved to Ghana two weeks ago and I found out that Ghanians acctualy make and eat their own cowmilk cheese! Imagine onye ocha happiness seeing cheese sold on the street... kai, it was truly! :D My best greetings mama lovely to have this little chat with you again xx
      am waiting for that high fibre coconut flour oh!! :D

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hahahaha! You see what I'm saying? :D Everyone seems to think that all I do is cook. Will you believe me if I say that I only cook because we need to eat? :D You will never see me heavily experimenting in the kitchen o. So yes, I make these videos but mostly because people request them. That is why you will not see me trying all the fancy food fusion and "craze" that you see in the Nigerian cooking community. I love our classic traditional food so much and my husband is not someone that wants to try food that deviates much from our classic food either so my darling, I do not cook that much at all. I spend most of my spare time on new technology and web related stuff because that really is where my passion is. This is why when you say I am the Nigerian food whatever LOL, I just laugh. I may know how to explain my own cooking but that's about it dear.
      For the gadgets, I am the exact opposite. If I want to try a recipe and the person starts whipping out all these gadgets, I will just click away because I am someone that believes that you only need to buy some kitchen equipment if you are a caterer or you own a restaurant. Some of them may save time but when you add the time you need to take it out of the box, clean it, use it and then clean it again ... mmmh, I would have finished doing what I need to do the traditional way. Take it from someone who uses a pot cover as meat pie cutter. :D :D Meanwhile I now have a meat pie cutter at home but it is tucked away in a cupboard somewhere. I have to go find it, clean it, use it and clean it again? Mbanu! And it's so awkward using that tool.
      Really? You are now in Ghana? Wow! Yes, Ghanaians are more into what we Nigerians call "oyibo food". Cheese is quite commonly eaten in Northern Nigeria but that's about it. There is no industry to turn it into a nationwide delicacy. I sometimes add it to my salad and that's it.
      O yes, the coconut flour will be published soon because I have recorded most of the video. I just need to edit it. :)xxx

      Update: Watch this video to see if it gives you an idea of what to do: th-cam.com/video/LqDccyzaDTg/w-d-xo.html

      I honestly do not know what is happening. A lot of people seem to have this problem but I honestly do not do any other thing when preparing this oil. I only do what I show in the video. No other tricks.
      I wish I can bring you all into my kitchen while making it next time. This works so well that in winter, you don't even need to put it in the fridge. Once the milk is chilled, the oil will congeal and you take it out. I wish I can solve this problem but it is beyond me because I have done this countless times and each time, I just put it in the fridge and it hardens.
      Maybe try and buy very mature coconuts, maybe the ones you used are not mature enough, that's the only reason I can think of. Or maybe there's something in the water you are using, like some kind of natural mineral in the water that is preventing the oil from solidifying. I'm sorry I may just be babbling but I am trying to think of what can make this go wrong and it's either the coconut or the water as those are the 2 ingredients used in making this.
      I am sorry that I can't help all of you having this problem because it is very strange to me, I have never experienced it.

      Just letting you know that you are AWESOME! I LOVE your channel and recipes! I saw some other videos and leaving it out for a few hours and THEN putting it in the refrigerator makes it more firm.

      If you live in a city and have chlorinated water I don't think it makes solids as well. I tried this with tap water(chlorine) and bottled spring water. The tap water from my city (which is very heavy on chlorine here because of disease naturally in our lakes) and it only made very little solids compared to the bottled, mineralised water. Maybe this can help you.

    This is very interesting. But please, it is true that using coconut oil as body cream darkens one skin. Please reply ma.

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess it depends on body type. I do not use it regularly on my skin. The best is to try it and see how it works for your skin.

    I thought this was coconut cream and not coconut oil... Good to know

    • @shayaamuhammad3148
      @shayaamuhammad3148 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, this is technically coconut cream!! However all the coconut oil is contained in this coconut cream...
      I was expecting as well a more thinner, oilier consistency as well, since we're talking about coconut oil. However this can still be used on the skin and is very healthy :-)

      I think you boil until brown things form. Run it through a cheese cloth and then pop it into the fridge. Dont quote me on this ^-^

      Dry the Coconut Flour then use it to make swallow by adding a tablespoon of Psylium Husk to a cup measure of the flour while turning it on the fire until it is cooked.
