I'm actually crying right now. I made most of the base at 8:23 and seeing a screenshot of it after all these years hit me with the strongest nostalgia I've ever experienced. I went by Myst_Penguin at the time and Mystery_Penguin on Facepunch. I remember the way I used to love layering materials on the outside walls to make the structures more interesting, and I remember the way I almost always placed two torches on different corners of the same brick. Such fond memories

For the few days that exploit was available, i had the most fun i've ever had in minecraft getting infinite diamonds, spreading wealth around and even hiring "miners" to speedup the diamond-mining process... that is, until i got ratted out to admins and swiftly banned & rollbacked :p

So a kid swore to rebuilt a base but every time it was destroyed, in that harsh environment it's not surprising that he have become like this. If only 2k2k was rebuilt with bedrock may have a chance on giving up gerifing bases.

Y’know, I’m wondering something now. In another time, the Facepunch Republic would have defeated the 4channers. So, this begs the question of what 2b2t would have ended up like if that had occurred. Personally, I think that the server would have become a comparatively less toxic and more orderly environment. But it wouldn’t last and the shutdown of Facepunch would likely cause the collapse of the Republic. Afterwards, there would probably be a mass exodus of players from the servers. Furthermore, assuming that Rusher’s arrival on 2b2t is a multiversal constant in timelines where he and the server both exist at the same time, that would complicate matters, as it would likely occur at the same time as in our history. So, a year after the Facepunch servers shut down. It would appear that the server’s overall toxicity is a big reason why Rusher lost, so then the question would become how well would a comparatively less toxic version of 2b2t fare? Yeah, call me a nerd for looking so deeply into this, but alternate histories are just so fascinating in my opinion.
Yeah, Toxicity is its greatest strengh, it keeps the player base active and interesting.

I remember on facepunch after Fit started getting popular with the algorithm, a few people would attempt to revive 2b2t interest on the forum.

@@viracocha6093 the then current mod team did not want to house/foster the topic. I was never a reader of the Minecraft subforum so I never really looked into the 2b2t discussions at all. It was still active for a long time after the end of the Republic, as I only started really browsing every day in late 2014 onwards. Perhaps there was still just a lot of internal drama that the mods dealt with in the thread, and did not want to see that kind of behaviour come back.
I could ask for a better reason, but the former moderators that I'm close to don't really like talking about the forums anymore. Just toxic behaviour that really hit them hard
FitMC is the proof that any story can sound great if exposed through pertinent and engaging narration.

I found that there are server-side Minecraft mods that allow multithreading in the recent versions of Minecraft Java. So, I think that if one of those mods was used, 2b2t could update.

This felt like seeing Horus Heresy lore and comparing it to "modern" 40k and seeing how different things were. Heck Popbob was one of the "good guys" and even the Facepunch doing a final act of defiance before splitting mirrors the Iron Cage and the legions splitting into chapters
