- Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine USS New Mexico (SSN 779) conduct a virtual tour of the boat as part of Santa Fe Virtual Navy Week. The Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort into areas of the nation without a significant Navy presence, with over 250 Navy Weeks held in 80 different U.S. cities. The program is designed to share with Americans how their Navy is deployed around the world and around the clock, and why a strong Navy is vital to protecting the American way of life. (U.S. Navy video by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Alfred Coffield)
No matter Red, White or Blue, We the People appreciate your dedication. You maintain a proud tradition.
I have a respect for Submariners the world over. They're in they're own world here.
Thank you
I was never in the Navy. Another branch. This is the best Sub video I have seen on U tube. The little touches the Navy has made to honor the name of the ship, to me, makes it more like a home while your aboard for long periods. I know they couldn't show lots of the ship because it's classified but thanks for what you could show. Thank you for what you do. All these guys are volunteers and love what they do,and it shows.
what branch?
As a former Fire Control Technician, I loved seeing the what Fire Control has become. The whole boat is amazing!
Thank you for a wonderful tour. May God always bless the U.S.S. New Mexico and her crew.
This makes for an EXCELLENT recruitment video!! Spent 4 years on boats and after seeing this I'm going to petition the Navy for an age waiver and do another tour, or two!! Lol
This is a great production!!!
Awesome video! Thank you for your service to our great country! From one veteran to another (Army) again thank you for your service to our country
Hi Curtis.
My 3 boys were in the Army - well done to all of you for your service in the world's greatest army!
Respect from US Navy submarine service, 1970-1976
Thank you all for continuing the service to our country. USN 1965-68. Served on the CARP SS 338 and also the JOHN.W.WEEKS DD701.
Love the new uniform. The tan ball caps and the NM theme with the bunk curtains are pretty slick too.
Camo on a sub is kinda ridiculous. A solid color, say one of the various blues or greys would more appropriate. Otherwise these are some very interesting and well produced videos !
No matter what country he belongs to,a sailor is a sailor and deserves utmost respect from everyone.
Salute to U.S. Navy sailors from an ordinary Indian fan.
It's just a shame our sailors don't dress like sailors anymore. You can't tell them from a Marine. 😥
This is the most excellent video. I’m so proud of our Navy men and women keeping me safe 24/7/365. America salutes YOU. 🇺🇸❤️😁👍
Excellent. Much appreciated. Helped my mood this Sunday am.
This is a beautiful, beautiful video. It well represents the crew of the USS New Mexico.
Greetings from Portales, NM. Thank you all for your hard work. Vaya con Dios.
US Air Force/New Mexico Air National Guard here. Wonderful tour. Thank you. Had i gone Navy (almost did) i would have loved to be on board with you folks.
I was Coast Guard and always thought it'd have been cool if we had a sub or two
You people are awesome. Thank you for your service and God bless you!
@ 2:49, STS3 screwed up. when you uncap an EAB manifold, you remove the
all the caps. even if it's just a demonstration, you practice the way
you train and combat a casualty. we referred to wearing an EAB as sucking rubber. it's not fun especially when you had the older model.
True, but for the sake of brevity, he chose to provide the information in a way that is understandable. Besides, most sand crabs don't know what all the lines are or what purpose they serve.
He donned the EAB, demonstrated that it will do the job, and that's to help their sons/daughters in a in extremis situation, so they may save the ship and themselves.
I really enjoy tour videos!!!! Thanks Navy!!! Love from Canada!
Great tour and very informative! Thank you for your service!
I was a Plankowner on the "10 Boat". Nice tour gentlemen... thanks !! Lots of features we didn't have on the early 688's.
Had never felt so honored and may I add willing to keep the right force at the right time at right place for the sake of peace......
A far cry different from my days (five patrols) on the USS Stonewall Jackson (SSBN634).
Amazing to see SSN 779. Many years ago at the end of it's life I was on SSN 585. This looks like a luxury hotel in comparison
The first in the skipjack class. Outstanding. God bless you
@@genej50 That's the one, thanks. Also exact same ship as Scorpion
Thanks for their service to protect us !!
Thank You Very Much & God Bless All Of You ( SSN 779 ) Crew's .
Awesome Submarine, and the Chocolate Chip is amazing.
Outstanding. Stay safe and stay vigilant. God bless the USA
One of the most, if not the most advanced attack submarines on the planet.
I served on the 779 from 2014-2015, what an experience! Thanks for making this video, wish you could have shown where I worked ;)
Nice going Austin!
Respect from USS Haddo, SSN 604, 1970-1976

The USS New Mexico......can't wrap my head around it no longer being a battleship.
Beautiful!

Since you spend almost all your time below the surface I can't wish you fair winds and following seas. May the Good Lord bless and keep you all.
Привет с Украины. Спасибо за видео. Всему экипажу New Mexico желаю долгих лет жизни, удачи, крепкого здоровья.🇺🇲🤝🇺🇦,🇺🇲⚓🦅💪👍👏✨.
I'm in the DEP for the Navy and can't wait to ship out
I've been on this boat. Great times. I'm still undefeated in spades.
Nice work. Thanks.
Go Navy

i love these videos! i'm 7 year usaf, and love learning more about the navy. i'd like longer format with more detail though. normally i like shorter videos, but not here. great place to start though!
on this one, i'd like to look inside the bunks to see how things are, look around the mess hall more, showing the cooks working as well. how do they store and manage the food? i didn't know they had diesels onboard. why? i thought they were nuclear? stuff like that. i'm very curious about all this. more context about what the boat is used for - although i know that, but others don't.
what's it like for the crewmen? do they start out swabbing the deck before they get to run the command center or drive the boat? how do officers start out? how do enlisted start out? so many questions!!
this is a great start, with awesome production values. i liked that part where he put on the breathing mask. i didn't know that before. awesome they have that safety mechanism.
please bring us more! i'd like to see greater detail! you're clearly able to show some things so that we don't compromise anything classified. thanks for making this and i hope to see more of this.
Verry good US NAVYl I like you have a good day for you I would like to encourage you soldiers.
I think its comedy when they try to tell me china or russia can mess with us.. after serving in the Navy I know nobody can't mess with us and thats why we maintain power in the world. God bless the sailors 🙏 love you all.
Don’t rest on your laurals, we might be king of sea, land, and air now, but their military is expanding faster than we are. They might catch up eventually, or atleast have enough power to control the pacific. Be ready, because when that day comes they will toss their weight around more than they are now and they will not fear.
@Nomore Illegals please your not pissing anyone off if anything you look ignorant 😂
@Nomore Illegals please 🤪😂🤣😂🤣
Nice!
@2020 ELECTION SNAPSHOTS how????? This is baseless statement
I hope he has access to green chile on that boat. New mexico proud.
The sub folks have the best food in the Navy (and so the US military).
@Georgi Var Too much stress on the air scrubbers. 8+$
Navy 💪
Well done!
My uncle was on that Sub!
Man, the anxiety attacks I could have in that bad boy 😍
😂😂😂 👍
Outstanding, dude truly deserves a promotion
Is there a full transcript for the ships plaque at the beginning of the video?
Yes a very cool insignia 🤔👍
The insignia goes hard
I keep seeing questions about why these sailors are wearing camo at sea. When I was in the Navy, we wore dungarees. But did that matter more than these uniforms? Personally, I would think that having the same uniform style cuts down on costs. Also, I would think it's good psychologically. Everyone feels they are part of the same fighting force if they are all wearing similar uniforms. And if a boat is sunk and the sailors have to swim to shore in enemy territory, it's probably better they have camo than stand out like blueberries.
They wear the camo as the working uniform while in port. They will switch to their poopy suits once underway.
Bien aya mipaisano trabajando para la marina del gabacho
Hey, where did the X-box controller go?
I worked on her during the overhaul and received the Chiefs coin in 2019
US NAVY 👍👍💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yo thats very cool , thanks to the entire submarine fleet for Protecting us from ww3
Why does he have a New Mexico State Flag patch as well as a US One?
I think that's to show the unit he's assigned to. The USS New Mexico
WOW
torp room guy called it a ship lol
As an old LA Class sailor, the green cammies are kind of a wth item😊....genius incorporating the flash hood with the EAB....boat seemed incredibly empty for this tour...bz
Reference crew sleeping berths. What happens to crew members that experience severe flatulence?
They seal him in the lockout chamber.
yo shit was in bess with this guy pinedo
Real strange, I am playing Cold Water Epic Mod. I am actively (while listening to YT in the background) playing a campaign with SSN-779 USS New Mexico. On pace to sink 1.8 million tons of ships/subs. Very weird.
Pretty sure I still hold the record for longest tour on that boat...
Well done Kenneth!
Respect from USS Haddo, SSN 604, 1970-1976
@@kenwbrenner thanks! I reported May 6th 2010 and got out of the navy from the boat November 12, 2016. 6 years, 6 months, and 6 days. Haha. You had an impressive run too! We were spoiled on Virginia Class though. I could tell some stories that would make it seem like a five star hotel by comparison.
The diesel is the heart and soul of the boat? I bet the nukes would disagree.
They need the diesel for a lot of things, but especially when shore power is disconnected and the reactor is in start up.
One of only two submarines made from Adobe.
I would have loved to have been a Submariner it looks awesome. Must be a really amazing experience having to be so quiet creeping about the ocean absolute stealth. I was in the British Army, my dad was in the British Army so was my Grandad and my great grandad so I had to join the Parachute Regiment don't get me wrong I loved all my time in the reg but Afghan sucked, constant f****** contacts, losing muscle mass at PBs for extended periods, always tired, f***** green on blue, then back home to drink all the beer and go mental in Aldershot and then later Collie. Certain people would not be happy to hear me say this but I really wish when I went into the careers office I had have joined the Royal Navy and become a Submariner I think some of our submarines are pretty cool too. We don't have loads like our American friends do but I think we can hold our own under the water. This was a cool vid, I've read a few books about United States Navy submarine service 👍 sorry if I'm waffling my brains a bit f**** and I do that. Cheers 🍻
Does the US Navy think that it's harder to find a submarine if everyone wears camouflage?
Might make it harder for the Chief to find someone he wants to yell at though. :)
admirals gotta have something to do, so every few years one of 'em will institute a uniform change, just because (ex navy subs, 1966-1971)
I served on the USS Oklahoma City SSN 723 from 1991 to 1995. What the hell happened to the old navy work dungarees? When did sailors start dressing like Marines?
Gotta love the Darth Vader routine.... Use the force, must you....
i skip thru looking for galley you no have
Where were all the classified parts? LOL
Thank you sailors.
Not today China...
I used to paint Fast Attack Subs at the Kittery Portsmouth Ship Yard. I was 125 pounds and snaked into very tight spaces wearing full face respirators all the time😲😉😊 Keep up the good work my friends ⚡🐙 Stay SAFE☢☣
👍
Bro did he really say "the desiel is the heart and soul" of an SSN? A nuclear boat?
Yup lmao
I'm late to this but it's needed to equalize ships pressure from time to time underway and to emergency ventilate the boat if it survived a nasty casualty.
🇺🇸👁️🇷🇺
Mask-that really sends a message to the world that the United States Navy is tough!
Hi. How are you. My. Boss. And. Friends.
Why wear camouflage IN A SUBMARINE ????
When are we going to change out of nwu3's I feel like a clown in them
they look better than the crummy blueberries c. 2009!
Careful. Someone might suggest Star Fleet uniforms.
Why does he need greenish camouflage and blacked-out insignia patches if he's in a submarine? They could all be wearing reflective orange jumpsuits and it wouldn't matter.
Uniformity
@@1Deejay7 Its still stupid.
@@jamestheotherone742 you're allowed to have relaxed days too you know if you're not on duty
Save money so everyone wears the same thing even if they aren't on subs. Submariners will also ha e duties not in the submarine
@@theroflcopternoob They aren't the same. They are just different enough from MARPAT or MCCUU that there is no economies of scale benefit. And this is the third uniform change in the last dozen years too.
🎓 GRAD D GRADUATION @S!!!!!!!
Why are you wearing a mask in a submarine? Why did I have to be born in this era?
Im sorry, I dont believe anyone in the Navy carries Mk 28 s anymore. Mk 48 adcap-maybe...
Look at all that rust
ET Navs get snubbed again :'(
