I was never in the Navy. Another branch. This is the best Sub video I have seen on U tube. The little touches the Navy has made to honor the name of the ship, to me, makes it more like a home while your aboard for long periods. I know they couldn't show lots of the ship because it's classified but thanks for what you could show. Thank you for what you do. All these guys are volunteers and love what they do,and it shows.
This makes for an EXCELLENT recruitment video!! Spent 4 years on boats and after seeing this I'm going to petition the Navy for an age waiver and do another tour, or two!! Lol This is a great production!!!
Hi Curtis. My 3 boys were in the Army - well done to all of you for your service in the world's greatest army! Respect from US Navy submarine service, 1970-1976
Camo on a sub is kinda ridiculous. A solid color, say one of the various blues or greys would more appropriate. Otherwise these are some very interesting and well produced videos !
US Air Force/New Mexico Air National Guard here. Wonderful tour. Thank you. Had i gone Navy (almost did) i would have loved to be on board with you folks.

@ 2:49, STS3 screwed up. when you uncap an EAB manifold, you remove the all the caps. even if it's just a demonstration, you practice the way you train and combat a casualty. we referred to wearing an EAB as sucking rubber. it's not fun especially when you had the older model.
True, but for the sake of brevity, he chose to provide the information in a way that is understandable. Besides, most sand crabs don't know what all the lines are or what purpose they serve. He donned the EAB, demonstrated that it will do the job, and that's to help their sons/daughters in a in extremis situation, so they may save the ship and themselves.
I think its comedy when they try to tell me china or russia can mess with us.. after serving in the Navy I know nobody can't mess with us and thats why we maintain power in the world. God bless the sailors 🙏 love you all.
Don’t rest on your laurals, we might be king of sea, land, and air now, but their military is expanding faster than we are. They might catch up eventually, or atleast have enough power to control the pacific. Be ready, because when that day comes they will toss their weight around more than they are now and they will not fear.

I keep seeing questions about why these sailors are wearing camo at sea. When I was in the Navy, we wore dungarees. But did that matter more than these uniforms? Personally, I would think that having the same uniform style cuts down on costs. Also, I would think it's good psychologically. Everyone feels they are part of the same fighting force if they are all wearing similar uniforms. And if a boat is sunk and the sailors have to swim to shore in enemy territory, it's probably better they have camo than stand out like blueberries.
i love these videos! i'm 7 year usaf, and love learning more about the navy. i'd like longer format with more detail though. normally i like shorter videos, but not here. great place to start though! on this one, i'd like to look inside the bunks to see how things are, look around the mess hall more, showing the cooks working as well. how do they store and manage the food? i didn't know they had diesels onboard. why? i thought they were nuclear? stuff like that. i'm very curious about all this. more context about what the boat is used for - although i know that, but others don't. what's it like for the crewmen? do they start out swabbing the deck before they get to run the command center or drive the boat? how do officers start out? how do enlisted start out? so many questions!! this is a great start, with awesome production values. i liked that part where he put on the breathing mask. i didn't know that before. awesome they have that safety mechanism. please bring us more! i'd like to see greater detail! you're clearly able to show some things so that we don't compromise anything classified. thanks for making this and i hope to see more of this.
As an old LA Class sailor, the green cammies are kind of a wth item😊....genius incorporating the flash hood with the EAB....boat seemed incredibly empty for this tour...bz
I used to paint Fast Attack Subs at the Kittery Portsmouth Ship Yard. I was 125 pounds and snaked into very tight spaces wearing full face respirators all the time😲😉😊 Keep up the good work my friends ⚡🐙 Stay SAFE☢☣
I would have loved to have been a Submariner it looks awesome. Must be a really amazing experience having to be so quiet creeping about the ocean absolute stealth. I was in the British Army, my dad was in the British Army so was my Grandad and my great grandad so I had to join the Parachute Regiment don't get me wrong I loved all my time in the reg but Afghan sucked, constant f****** contacts, losing muscle mass at PBs for extended periods, always tired, f***** green on blue, then back home to drink all the beer and go mental in Aldershot and then later Collie. Certain people would not be happy to hear me say this but I really wish when I went into the careers office I had have joined the Royal Navy and become a Submariner I think some of our submarines are pretty cool too. We don't have loads like our American friends do but I think we can hold our own under the water. This was a cool vid, I've read a few books about United States Navy submarine service 👍 sorry if I'm waffling my brains a bit f**** and I do that. Cheers 🍻
Real strange, I am playing Cold Water Epic Mod. I am actively (while listening to YT in the background) playing a campaign with SSN-779 USS New Mexico. On pace to sink 1.8 million tons of ships/subs. Very weird.
@@kenwbrenner thanks! I reported May 6th 2010 and got out of the navy from the boat November 12, 2016. 6 years, 6 months, and 6 days. Haha. You had an impressive run too! One of the most, if not the most advanced attack submarines on the planet.
A far cry different from my days (five patrols) on the USS Stonewall Jackson (SSBN634).

The diesel is the heart and soul of the boat? I bet the nukes would disagree.
They need the diesel for a lot of things, but especially when shore power is disconnected and the reactor is in start up.
