I remember Max very well. Max was a hell of a driver when it came to NASCAR. I remember when he drove the GEICO 13 Toyota for Germain Racing. When it came to qualifying Max was one of those guys to beat. He may have had some bad luck in qualifying a few times but he was one heck of a driver.

i remember one year at daytona 24 hour max forgot there was a pit lane speed limit and came down pit lane doing over 150mph like the old days and everybody standing around woke up real fast.

Mad max is the man. Been a fan since that epic drive in the ferrari 333sp at the daytona 24h in 1996. Fun fact, hes the reason imsa finally got pit road speed limits the next year. Just watch his last pit stop that race. Hes doing like 180 on pit road lol. They showed him the clip and interviewed him the next year about it, and his reply (ill never forget it), was just "that was flat out" in his accent with a chuckle lol. I loved the wild guys in imsa like him and boris. No wonder they fit right in with the nascar boys later on.

I don’t care where they come from- what we “need” is more racers with good character. Like Max, Jamie McMurray, etc.
The stupidity of the truck races and the xfinity crap that these drivers pull off is just so low quality but yet they’re rewarded with these rides.
A little more work ethic and a lot more character lets us watch racing and not wrecking for positions.

In ’96 Max Papis and Robby Gordon nearly raced in F1 full-time. Papis drove the Miller Lite open wheel car back then.
He also drove that beautiful momo ferrari 333sp that year
