When my son was around 4-5 years old in 94 and 95 Rick Mast was in the number 1car So when he counted to 10 in NASCAR he started with Rick Mast, Rusty Wallace, Dale Earnhardt ,Stirling Marlin, Terry Labonte, just a funny story I remember. Good to see Rick. Keep up the great work Kenny
I damn sure agree with Kenny, Rick Mast from Rock Bridge Baths Virginia. He's a blue collar country boy that worked hard for any success he had. People, especially blue collar race fans, really appreciate that
Thanks Kenny hes an amazing guy, their are so many drivers still alive that need to be recognized for their contributions to the sport we love so much i really appreciate your service too our roots well done my man
Kenny thank you so much for having Rick on. I was always a fan. He was always such a gentleman in his interviews. Made me think he was a good man away from the race track. Thank you Rick for sharing with us.
This is a great Kenny conversation I never knew that Rick Mast was so cool I can't wait for part 2 I should have paid attention back in the day when he was racing in NASCAR there was never any kind of interview like this
Kenny, That was, in my opinion, your best one yet! I got completely lost in y’all’s chatting and it was over before I even realized that it had been over an hour. Fantastic “Kenny Conversation” and I’m already looking forward to the next few hours to follow… THANKS KENNY!! 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Awesome to hear from Rick Mast and so much history to cover. Love to hear more about his carbon monoxide poisoning that took him out of racing. Always cheered for Rick and he is so likable just like you Herm! No wonder you are such great friends. Both of these guys have big hearts and a lot of common sense!
There needs to be a part 2 with Rick. Best story I've heard about Rick was when he turned Mike skinner somewhere and Larry Mac went to confront him and Rick tells Larry 'I did get into the back of mike, but he's the one who elected to spin out'😂
Man it’s great to see all these normal people on Kenny’s conversation because god knows we all know Kenny ain’t normal! 🤣! These interviews are all great Kenny! Love to hear the stories. Keep it going!
Actually being from Connecticut, in the 70s and 80s I thought we had a weekly publication in the NorthEast, I believe it was called the Speedway Scene.
Great episode Kenny, Rick is a prime example of the term “salt of the earth”, really enjoyed his stories and the conversation. Now we need an episode with Rick’s teammate Handsome Harry…..I have a feeling Harry would be a multiple episode conversation as well.
Rick was the first driver I got to meet way back in "96 when most of them showed up for autograph sessions at the Charlotte Convention Center. It was funny. I was 13 at the time and was star struck. I didn't know what to say. So the first thing I said to him was Jason...that's my name...Jason lol! So he could make the autograph out to me and I'm like he is going to think I'm an idiot. But, not at all. He was so nice and asked how I like racing and all that. So glad to hear is doing well these days!
Brilliant, love your work Kenny. And Rick is a seriously cool cat. Great chat. I wouldn’t mind if all these interviews went for 2 hours or more! Thanks for bringing this content to the world. Best wishes from Australia
Damn Kenny, sure was a great interview.Looking forward to more Rick Mast. These stories must be done for the generations to come.Rick and Kenny are products of the Glory Days of NASCAR.The coolest story I thought Rick told, when he asked A.J. Foyt what could he do to go a little faster ,A.J. tells him 2 turns of wedge,Rick does that and he sits on the pole.I bet Big Tex let out a smile when he saw Ricks name on the scoreboard as #1 qualifier,at the inaugural Indy Cup Race. Thanks Kenny,Charlie and Rick,as always a great job.
Awesome interview guys!! Rick is definitely a country gentleman!! Sad to see him get hurt he was one of my favorites!! Virginia is a awesome place my family is from there and they were true coal miner's !!
I remembered Rick driving a light blue number 22 Late Model Sportsman at South Boston and TRICO Speeday (Orange County Speedway) back in the 70’s. Man, that was good racing; Sam Ard, Sonny Hutchins, Bill Dennis, Ray and Roy Hendricks, Phil Morgan, Butch Lindley. I could go on and on. Man those guys could wheel those Nova’s while Rick ran a Dodge/Chrysler. Good memories….
Rick's construction company put in a huge extension on to the company I work for. It was awesome meeting him and getting his autograph! I saw him race at Pocono for my first NASCAR race back in 2000. Yup and I also got to see the Intimidator run!... I had a calendar of NASCAR tracks and I asked Rick what his favorite track was. He said Dover, so I had him sign the picture of Dover Raceway that was the calendar picture. Very cool guy!
I had forgotten that Rick was from Rockbridge Baths. Him and Booper Bare, who was a bad ass local dirt late model driver when I was a kid. Always rooted for Rick back then, came close so many times it seems.
Remember when he drew his way in the BUSCH CLASS he said " I knocked 4 cars off the road on the way to the track this morning, Im in the right state of mind for this race." Great guy and a hell of a racecar driver. Good job Herm ! !
Kenny I've always enjoyed Rick. He was great racer. Such a original character. Miss folks like Rick in Nascar. Remember him have those issues with the carbon monoxide. If not for that . He was on verge of big success in cup level. Doesn't mean he was such a great racer.
I’m enjoying Rick Mast talking about the timing loops, and the split reports. You get at Indy! I was also surprised the first time the SCCA ran there. If you’re the fast guy on track. You love seeing your, and all other teams split times! But everybody else on the other teams, hates it. Because it’s blatantly obvious where your deficits are at On track!
I want to hear more from Rick. I want to hear about the BGN days, and I want to hear more about Kevin Hamlin as crew chief, Richard Jackson as a car owner, and what made 1994 such a career year. Was it just the Hoosiers? Something else?
Good well rounded decent driver kinda like Kenny but never got that elusive cup win. Rick is in the most famous nascar finish in history when Dale St wins the Daytona 500
There was two NC racing publications....Southern Motor Sports Journal...Bob Hoffman was editior....and Southern Motor Racing...Hank Schoofield....great reads...for racing news starved Nascar fans...where the major newpapers seem to put in back pages...
Hey Kenny. Seems like i remember that Rick did not work out when he was driver but he worked on his farm putting fence post in and was very strong man. I think
Wow, that's cool that Rick mentioned our (former) racetrack, Birmingham (Alabama), twice. I never knew he raced here. We called it BIR, Birmingham Interntional Raceway. If you do a "part two" with Rick, i'd like to know about the Chrysler Kit car and also the time "allegedly" Rick had an on track incident with Sr. Rick got wrecked & while they were fixing the car to go back out Rick said he's going back out to wreck Sr. (Earnhardt) but someone told Ricks crew to stop work, put down the tools because "He's running for the championship"(Earnhardt). Sponsors ? Bill France ?
I REMEMBER DALE SR HAD PROBS WITH CHICKENS / ASKED RICK TO TRY TO QUALIFY CAR SOMEWHERE RICK PUT ON POLL (PUT HIM IN CLASH) DALE SR MADE SURE HE HAD GOOD CAR FOR FEB
The word GENUINE was used. That’s something we don’t hear or experience much anymore like COMMON SENSE. Don’t always agree with you sir but I can respect your opinion and look forward to your comments. If more folks understood it’s not the content but the delivery we could enjoy each other more. Thanks.

Love these great old NASCAR drivers and their stories. A dick trickle fan from Wisconsin
I damn sure agree with Kenny, Rick Mast from Rock Bridge Baths Virginia. He's a blue collar country boy that worked hard for any success he had. People, especially blue collar race fans, really appreciate that
I don’t know how it’s possible but after this interview I love Rick mast more than ever very good to see him be himself hell of a job!
Nooooo!!! I didn't want this episode to end, I could've listened to you and Rick for hours. Please bring him back on. #1 show to date in my book.
I've really enjoyed all of your interviews but I think this is the first one that really needs a Part 2. Great Conversation!
Rick was my favorite driver back in the day! I still have the video on him on the pole in Richard Petty’s last race in 92!
Awesome interview Kenny, Rick was always one of my favorite drivers.
This is a great Kenny conversation I never knew that Rick Mast was so cool I can't wait for part 2 I should have paid attention back in the day when he was racing in NASCAR there was never any kind of interview like this
Man I love stories from the 90s. These get better and better. Thank you Kenny for all you do for the history of our sport.
Kenny, That was, in my opinion, your best one yet!

Thank you Kenny Rick Mast was top five personality for me as a fan and we don't see him enough.
Definitely need another episode with Rick Mast, Kenny. He was only getting warmed up at the end. Great episode with a real racer and a good man.

Great interview. Rick is from near my home town in Virginia. I was helping a guy who was racing at Natural Bridge when he came along racing.
This was great. Always enjoyed Rick.
Take a drink every time he says "right"
Kenny I've always enjoyed Rick. He was great racer. Such a original character. Miss folks like Rick in Nascar. Remember him have those issues with the carbon monoxide. If not for that . He was on verge of big success in cup level. Doesn't mean he was such a great racer.

That shrimp hot sauce will open up congested sinuses and heal a headache. I can’t think of restaurant name either.

Time went too fast. More Kenny and Rick and A.J. and Snake..
Rick Mast is great driver 😂
I think he was talking about Chris Economaki.
PLEASE PLEASE have Dave Despaine on and some of the spotters also the other Allison brother
Can we please get part two
Just do part 2
I wish you or Jr could get AJ Foyt while he’s still around. Since you so remotes Kenny you probably would be able to get it done.
Do you remember when a little newspaper you got weekly told all the races was and purses and told who won the last week
Wondering if Rick and Booper Bare are friends?
Rick looks and sounds great considering how poisoned he had been from all those years of carbon monoxide exposure..
Your gonna have to buy a few more hairs!
St elmos
Kenny!!! Quit just allowing 1 hr! Why do you keep cutting it off at 1 hr?? Who is telling you this is as long as you can go??
Love ya brother but you have to get a better name than Kenny Conversation !!!!😢
Incorrect. Its perfect.
The reason is because all the "good old boys" are not racing. Also NASCAR is woke.
