I started a Roth at 32 and will cap out at about 1.5 million by retirement. I wish I started when I was your age but better late than never.

There are a lot of new people listening to the show every day and they have not heard Dave's wisdom. Those of us who have been listening for many many years cringe at some of the answers that are given or important facts that are omitted. I'm to the point where I listen at the most once every two or three weeks and if it's not Dave and Rachel, I don't listen. I only clicked on this one because I didn't have a CD in my car and I was aggravated almost immediately.
Too bad she couldn't trust him & needed to protect her assets from his lies & choices. She wouldn't be threatening divorce if he would have been honest before marriage.
To Ryan in Salt Lake City @1:41:00. If you're a Christian with 5 children I'd strongly advise you to look at the laws in California before moving there. They have some dodgy new laws that pretty much protect pedophiles. Their school's have control over the parents, if your Christian raised kids show innocent curiosity in sexuality or identity they're at serious risk of being brainwashed and mutilated behind your back or taken away from you if you're resistant. I'd strongly recommend a state with laws that do not infringe or intrude on you as a parent. The sun shines in many states, move to one of those and simply plan annual family vacation to California.
I'm a single guy never been married but I just don't understand why you're not combining my married people aren't combining their their incomes I mean they're right you just glorified roommates that sleep together
They don't give anything except generic advice on retirement investments - mutual funds in four categories, invest 15% after all debt is paid off and 3-6 months or emergency fund is saved, and otherwise they advise you check in with one of their SmartVestor pros. The advice is very general - they are NOT going to tell you which funds to pick. If you listen to the show, you'll hear the four categories. growth, growth and income, aggressive growth, and international. In general, they GREATLY exaggerate the return that most funds will bring except in exceptional years - so don't get your hopes up. But they are right about one thing - STAY in the market, up or down. It almost never works out to time the market. On a personal note, the two SmartVestor Pros we called did not work out for us - we stayed with the investment company we already had. Each of the SVPs we called wanted $750 up front to even set an appointment. The SVPs have to pay RS to be on the recommended list - and I understand it's quite a bit of money. Seems to come out of the hides of those who later call them on the recommended list... I hope others had better experiences.
Emily - it's her fault if she did not ask to check his credit report before she got married. He obviously did not want to lose her and my guess is he was afraid to tell her or he did not see this as debt, but as commitments he made to his kids b/c most of the debt seems to be his children's education. It's ON HER to check his report, not just on him. Trust, but always verify! AS USUAL, JBD just jumps on the husband with one side of the story. What I'm hearing here is her saying I, I, I - and, sorry, a lot of this is on her for not verifying in advance. If it's for his kids and past commitments he made to his kids, t's not like he's been randomly wantonly spending on himself. "Evidently," my dear, means SHE did not check. I'm not sure I believe her that he lied - nor do I like the way JBD is handling this. She hates those kids and now she is threatening to get half of his retirement after only a year. There is a lot more to this story than her side.
Agreed. She started to show her true self as soon as the “how about I divorce you and take half your retirement and half your games” came out of her mouth. I know there’s only so much you can do in a two minute call, but the hosts should have picked up that she likely was telling a very skewed version of her story.
Again, with the negativity, why??? Why do you feel the need to comment this? It literally makes ZERO sense. Just move on! You’re a teacher it’s scary how hateful you can be especially in a YT comment section!
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 Actually, there are a LOT of families with limited incomes who depend on Thanksgiving and Christmas to provide for their children what they cannot afford, sometimes due to their own financial negligence and sometimes due to disastrous events (medical, fires, etc.) that are beyond their control.

I hate the way this guy jump to insults another man without listening the other half of the story. Once someone do that I am sure that is not a good professional. I am referring to the first call on the show. Always but always you have to listen to both sides before issuing your opinion or advice
The PhD on the first call calls someone a coward who he doesn’t know. Who’s the coward Johnny ? The PhD kisses Dave’s butt & he calls other people coward. Why is he on a financial show ??
Delony called the guy a coward because he lied to his wife’s face. He’s just being honest and also this isn’t just a “financial” show anymore it’s about life and relationships hence why they brought on Dr. John AND Ken. So the PHD is right here. He was brought on to takes these calls specifically and he does a great job!
Delony has two doctorates - one in counselor education and supervision and the other in higher education administration, both from Texas Tech. Neither of these are direct patient-professional interaction related. Most of the people calling likely presume he is a psychiatrist (medical doctor) or psychologist (therapist.) If he is licensed to diagnose people with problems or has direct therapy treatment, the way he goes about it is not the way a genuine therapist would do so. The “Can I stop you right now?”, “I’m willing to bet you…” and insults, as well as “Just let it go” are certainly not what a true therapist would say. He also relates every problem to himself. But he LOVES being called “Doctor” on the show and the show never misses a chance to remind the public of his title.
@@Trustbutverify2651 Respectfully, you have zero clue what you’re talking about. First, Delony has had clinical interaction. He was a LPC in the state of TX and purposely chose to not renew his license in TN because he didn’t want the regulations. Second, he doesn’t care to be called doctor. He’s fine with you calling him John. Matter of fact, just the other day Ken asked when you are in a hotel do you introduce yourself as “Dr. John” and he said nope “my mom named me John” so please don’t spread that false rumor. Third, Delony probably has more hands on and clinical experience than any counselor because he literally has cleaned brains of walls, sat with mothers while their son is dead in the next room, etc. Normal counselors are there in the aftermath but Delony showed up in the trauma day in and day out. Not to mention spent years in psychiatric hospitals with students so he has plenty of patient care interaction. If you just did one search of Delony and his credentials you wouldn’t be saying half the stuff you do. It’s quite ignorant from someone who prides their self on being a teacher. Your critiques of him only having one side again doesn’t hold. Most counselors unless you are a marriage counselor do only get one side of the story and have to run with that until they learn differently. John has had multiple couples on the show and when that happens it’s great but most callers don’t. Him calling someone a “coward” or “acting like a child” again is just calling a spade a spade. It’s no ill will plus he is not in a professional counseling relationship anymore, he’s transitioned to more being a coach so he can let loose on people and still be empathetic with them.
She’s probably just in shock. Maybe some anger that he didn’t stop drinking when he knew this would probably happen. All of her feelings are valid and I’m praying that she can get some stability because it’s just heartbreaking!

@@myoldvhstapes uggghhh I want to see the ratings of the show when he is not. I bet it’s a tremendous dip in viewership
That particular vacation began on around 5 November and ended on around 11 December.@@myoldvhstapes
A female THREATENING her husband with divorce because she's upset??? What are the odds??? Protect your money and seed, gents
Definitely protect the seed!

Anybody else wanna bet that ‘Jim’ is Amish or Mennonite? Pretty sure that’s a PA Dutch accent
That's exactly what I was thinking
I'm a single guy never been married but I just don't understand why you're not combining my married people aren't combining their their incomes I mean they're right you just glorified roommates that sleep together
Valentines day has a really dark beginning. Just like all other pagan holidays that we follow, unfortunately.
Great comment
1:38:00 Ryan, why are you letting other people speak into where you live? It's your and your wife's lives. Live where you want, for pity's sake.
Me sitting over here with brown eyes....
Max is a great young man.
I need advice on retirement investments, how may I speak to you guys? I’ve tried calling the number many times.
I hope others had better experiences.
go to the web site at ask a question
You could contact a financial advisor who is a fiduciary. They could probably help you more.
Why would he be a skeptic about Valentine's day? Hes happily married!❤
Stop, solve for freedom, not going to catch on
poor Keith...you work, she spends, I see a problem for you
44:12 uhmmmmmm am i the only one wondering when they started dating?
Went from he owes to we owe. The ridiculousness she needs to divorce him.
Emily is right in being mad but I can sense she is not easy to live with
Emily - it's her fault if she did not ask to check his credit report before she got married.
@@notgivingmyemail3381she sounds like a piece of work.
That lady scared me straight. Just don’t get married.
I’m a man running away far and long.
Maybe Emily can get the marriage annulled?
I tried to listen for half the show - I honestly did. But I'd had enough.
Too much John?
Again, with the negativity, why??? Why do you feel the need to comment this? It literally makes ZERO sense. Just move on! You’re a teacher it’s scary how hateful you can be especially in a YT comment section!

Rachel 👎👎thumbs down on Valentines Day. Useless holiday.
Are there any holidays that aren't useless?
All American holidays are tradition and can be celebrated in a non hallmark way!
Gold has almost doubled in 5 years and Bitcoin is up 120% over the last year and 1200% in 5 years
I wonder if Dave Ramsey would be opposed to selling pictures of my feet online to get out of debt?
Lol! I say go for it
Dave doesn’t need to wear a vest like that. He looks grumpier than usual
John Deloney should not be in the driver's seat. Too easily distracted off topic.

Incorrect response from Rachel at 19:00 nonchalantly stating that a monthly payment of $275 is not a huge amount, like its fine 🥴
Not huge when the average car payment is over $700/month, genius
It’s not! Quit trying to hate on Rachel lol. The avg is massive. That is nothing. She’s right

It depends on someone's salary.
If someone making $ 20,000 yearly and has rent it might be alot for them vs someone making $100,000. 00 and low expenses.
Why does an elderly man come to a TH-cam podcast to mock and bully people half his age? What in god’s name is wrong with you? Just STOP!
Totally - but watch for the Corgi who blindly loves the guy. Never misses a chance to defend him in the comments. Watch for it 🤣
Delony has two doctorates - one in counselor education and supervision and the other in higher education administration, both from Texas Tech.
Sounds like Ella's boyfriend is a redpiller
Does anybody think Kimberly was VERY COLD. Her husband has a year left to live and she's worrying about house renovations?
She’s probably just in shock. Maybe some anger that he didn’t stop drinking when he knew this would probably happen. All of her feelings are valid and I’m praying that she can get some stability because it’s just heartbreaking!
Dr John Delony should've married Rachel Cruz. They'd make the perfect couple
John always assumes the worst in men and sees women as victims.
He thinks he is The White Knight
He has anger towards men he can't hold back
Couldn't someone have worn a heart patterned sweater... geesh. lol
I am not even particularly a “Valentines Day” person but truly, I have to agree with you 😂❤

So you cash out all the Robinhood to pay the car?

Or sell the car, that’s the Ramsey way

They appreciate the views and watch time . Just a heads up watching Delony and Rachel and then commenting makes the algorithm show you them more! Hope you’re having a fantastic Wednesday! 😊
In general I appreciate the show. I just miss Dave. His daughter doesn't stop talking dribble and John's solution to people's problem is to have them just be born again.
@@flashthecorgi2053I don’t think the algorithm works that way. The computer doesn’t scan hours of content to see who’s on, it simple looks at the description the producers put below the video. Since the actual hosts of the day are not singled out in the video description they won’t be shown more than any other host combo (at least not based on who the host is).
@@notgivingmyemail3381They are singled out in the description says “hosts Dr. John Delony and Rachel Cruze…” plus Delony is in the thumbnail so I’m pretty sure the algorithm can read that and pushes that person more. I could be wrong but that’s my understanding!
