- There has been a lot of talk about joysticks and how they can make the new Platinum DLC forestry expansion even more enjoyable. A lot of people have been talking about purchasing a joystick (or two) so hopefully, this simple guide will help you.
For the record, I am using the Thrustmaster T.16000M

Love your settings I was similar but the rotations of the machine were left right switch to the twist of the wrist made a huge difference!

wow thanks man, that joystick mounts are awsome!!!! I used to play with a 360 controller but dual joystick next to my seat is very nice, resting the arms on comfortable arm rests and using the joysticks is such a joy :D

Giants really need to get console players access to this kinda material, we are stuck with controllers, it would be so much nicer to be able to use a keyboard or joystick, or at least be able to change up the keybindings.
I’m not sure if it’s a console or game limitation that’s stopping keyboard and mouse being plugged in
@@TheFarmSimGuy here's one for you FSG, did you know that if you reset the wheel loader, dumper and forklift back to the store on silverrun, then you can quick tab into them.
@@TheFarmSimGuy it's definitely how the games are made (in regards to Xbox at least). Keyboard/mouse works on the console and in some games.
Thrustmaster launched a new tca stick airbus branded compatible with xbox. I would bet that stick can work with the xbox version of the game
You would not want to use a mouse for that kind of machine it is not easy. A lot of pc players use a controller for a Xbox but on pc. I prefer a wheel that is my favorite thing to use in driving games and farm sim I play on pc the amount of money you spend on a Xbox or play station. You could buy a pc for the same price
And again top work lad, i have a wee addition i use a hotas and found that you can use a button , say trigger, as a modifier which now lets you asign your axis again so almost doubling your controls ,
trigger ➕️ axis is seen as different from axis alone.

Finally got a joy stick...still need to set it up...but the main reason I want to use one is for other implements...like bucket manipulation on a wheel loader or bale handling with forks...etc. Not much into farming trees :)
Nice video mines set up very similar but I extend using the d up and down as I use the same to extend on telehandlers

Very informative FSG. I've used an xbox controller as a pair of joysticks for cranes and excavators. I use a wheel and pedals ingame so the xbox controller is not used for driving

Very helpfull! i even bought the T16000 to upgrade my old Thrustmaster Basic Joystick, The Basic worked perfect! but i felt like i missed some buttons/options with the Platinum DLC. when you showed the 'Rotate Vehicle' by turning left/right of the stick itself i was already sold! and then there are even 12 more buttons on the base!
Little problem tho.. Can't figure out how to turn off the slidy button in de middle of the base.. it keeps scrolling automaticly through my map =p Do you or anyone know how to fix this?

I tried this before but found it easier with two joysticks... Even better if you have the time to set them up similar to SAE controls like real life machines, if your happy to do the setup it would make for a good video 👌🏼

@@ricardo_1989 t.16000m, and have you tried the settings page on the main menu, there's an "allowed inputs" kinda option make sure game controllers is allowed of your own pc, if your on console... However i don't know if you can get two joysticks to work

It is great you managed to make a working configuration. I spent two days trying to configure my Thrustmaster t300 steering wheel and failed miserably. While in Eurotruck simulator it is a game changer, in FS22 the force feedback does not work, it is not possible to map the keys to anything meaningful (the game tries to map it as a standard PS4 controller, which results in completely ridiculous key combinations for the simple tasks, such as shifting gears, or using blinker).
If you use a steering wheel with FS22, it would be a really interesting to see a similar episode how you managed to set it in some meaningful way.
Thanks mrackomo, I had the same issue as you, so I've pretty much ignored the buttons on my wheel, it's literally there to steer left and right now. It should track automatically, I didn;t change any view settings

I use a Logitech 923, and the Saitek heavy equipment side panel, but I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick sitting on the shelf unused, I thought about adding a 2nd joystick for logging. My PC desk is smaller, my I please ask what brand / model of mount you have clamped onto your desk supporting your joystick, TY, keep of the great work.

Yes I run a PS4 controller, Wheel, pedals, button box, joystick, Sim dashboard and all work fine. (I had 2x wheels connected at one point because my Fanatec wheel and pedals were also connected for Sim racing)
Nice video. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see how you mapped the “cut” button or anything about maybe using it with drive controls? Like possible using the 4 top buttons as “modifiers” like the Lb/rb buttons on a controller the left/right mouse buttons?
The default for the cut button was X, so I just added in the top button on the joystick as an extra keybind

Man I wish I could get dual joy sticks for a Xbox. I run equipment for a living and not being able to use the controls how they are on here drives me crazy. I never struggle in real life with these. Plus it would keep the kids off my real ones 🤣.
Before adding my Logitech 3D Extreme Pro joystick, I had a G923 wheel/pedals, and the Saitek heavy equipment side panel. I backed up my input binding file, unfortunately as soon as I launched 22, my joystick took over every free spot that was not being use by my wheel or side panel, something FS has always done, and I do not like, you should get pop-up window with a yes to proceed or cancel. I had to go through the gamepad section and remove 20+ controls that FS forced the joystick into. BTW, as soon as the map open I was staring at my feet, it was stuck there, after removing all joystick slots that problem was fixed. I added my joystick to certain parts of the crane, player interactive and vehicle areas to control the cut for tree harvesters, and the movement for the part of the Hannibal's boom control that grabs the tree. When I was fished, it all worked well, and I was able to zip through trees at a fast rate. But...the 1st time I hit Esc to open the PDA map view, the map is now stuck in a scrolling / panning down, always moving to the bottom of the map. KB binds where not messed with at all, I looked through all the settings, and the only way I could find to pan the map down was with the LMB drag down and the "S" key. I went through every slot under gamepad section, and I could not find where my joystick or other controllers had any access the panning the map. It like the game is getting its wires crossed, and send an erroneous signal for one of my peripherals.
Do you have a slider, throttle type control on your joystick? That’s probably linked to your camera, I had the same issue with my thrustmaster, then you can revert back to your mouse for panning around 👍
@@TheFarmSimGuy My Logitech has a throttle that is similar to yours, has a tab sticking up that rotates a pot backwards and forwards. Your the Man, that was it, I was able to rotate it to the middle position, and get my map to stay dead-still. I can't see any place where my throttle on the joystick shows up in a slot on the KB or the gamepad section, this is kind of weird.

I think I found a mistake on your spreadsheet.. controls 5 & 6 are also on the Y axis just like 3 & 4, I think they should be on the X.

Well I have plenty of joysticks from my dcs, il2, etc flying. I setup my Logitech x56 stick and mapped it but I jump in game and it doesn’t work. Does farm sim not recognize certain items that you are aware of? Don’t worry I just sorted it out. One other thing is to make sure you have joysticks and steering wheels turned on lol. Now it works great!

Fsg the automatic cutting is only for the delimbing the tree you probebly press to long or twice the machine normaly not start right away delimbing
The arm closes to the machine is the boom, and the one farthest away is the stick
Can you rotate the cutter head once a tree is attached for cutting? Would make stacking log piles much easier.
Yes but in some cases the weight of the tree will stop it turning

Hi, your video helped me a lot to adjust my joystick thanks for that. But when I wanted to buy some land after setting it, I noticed that the map automatically scrolls up and even if I align the map down, it scrolls up again. Do you have the same problem? And sorry for the english it's bad😀
Yes you will have a slider or throttle control on the joystick, remove that from your keybinds (move it up and down and you will see it slow or stop on the map

I'm having an issue when I'm in a vehicle with tracks. Whenever I turn my steering wheel left or right, the said vehicles will start to spin around automatically. Is that the result of easy arm controls as well?
Couldn't see it in the comments, but what is the movement for the button assigned as X in the gamepad settings? On Xbox controller it's LB+A but I can't even find that in the list other than Vehicle : Tool Function 2. I tried setting it as that but the tree still doesn't cut with that joystick button.
That’s tool function 2 isn’t it? I made it the trigger & made tool function 1 the stick side switch (kind of where the thumb rests on mine),this switches on a tool like a cutter & then i use the trigger to make the cut.

Good day! It looks like you have some experience with Thrustmaster! I am not able to get the force feedback to work on my Thrustmaster TMX wheel in Farming Simulator. I can turn on auto centering in windows settings for the wheel itself, but there are no forces or auto centering through the game. Do you know anyone that has been able to use one of these wheels the way it’s meant to be used in FS? Also, what wheel do you use? Thanks!

Nice video! I have de saame joystick as you, but I have an issue. Every time I touch the stick, the camera goes to top down view and theres is no way to rotate to another position (using the mouse) because it returns to top down view. Do you have any clue what I'm doing wrong? I don't have experience in settings and I'm having trouble finding the problem. Thank you!
Sounds like the slider at the back of the joystick is connected to your camera keybinds, try sliding it and see if it stops and then you can disable it in you bindings

I use a t248 wheel and it's pre mapped to this game, but the mapping buttons are named like rs2 + a to do something. My wheel is a pc ps5 wheel and doesn't have the letter A! Anyone know if giants made a key map so I know what they mean with their own named buttons?
sorry to sound like a noob ahah, what function is the cut and how did you set it to a different button i have the same joystick, just cant figure out the cut other then using my keyboard still
Just bind they key on your keyboard to the joystick, so if the key is X for cut, find that in your keybinds and add your preferred button on your joystick 👍

Yes primarily your left stack will be predominantly for driving, just set it up as you wish in keybinds 👍

Maybe you could do me a favor, I've run into an issue on Silverrun, it appears my productions are broke, as in they stopped producing. From the beginning I had the mod active "Production Revamp v1.3.5.1", all my productions were working, but the old sawmill seemed really slow at producing anything. I removed the Revamp mod thinking it might not be working with the game's latest update. This only made matters worse, now, none of my productions I own are producing anything, no steel from furnace, and zero, zip from the sawmill, and several hours of gameplay have gone by. Just wondering if anyone else has or are running the Revamp mod on Silverrun.
BTW, what's up with that sawmill having a tiny spawn area that looks to only support (1) pallet.
What keybind do I need to change to cut the tree down and cut it to the length?
It should tell you in the F1 menu the key to adjust the length of the tree
Hello from the future.. I have gone and bought the new TM farmstick.. It says that it is all set up for FS22.. I hope so, i am yet to test it out.. growing some trees to find out. keen to do more forestry as i have not done much in the past.. makes a change from cows and grass.

trying to find the command for cutting the trees. so i can find what button to use on my joystick. or the X button you used. what is that command please fsg?
It was already set for me Pete, but I think it’s just called Cut Tree in the general settings

You can buy left or right handed versions
In fact one fits for both, it comes with two rubber pieces for lefties and that palm rest (or whatever its called) can be rotated after you loosen the screws on it.

Any one you want, it’s just a reference sheet nothing to do with the game, you have to do that yourself in the keybinds menu
how come my main camera constantly moves to the dirt? i cant do anything. ive changed settings and nothing seems to be helping me.
Your slider is doing that, just remove that keybind
Great video however I have the same joystick and have followed your video step by step and no matter what I do it just does not work I go 1 step at a time and save all the way down the list and just can not get it to work show all the correct buttons
Ok I got one question how do I bind a button to cut the tree?
In the keybinds find the cut option and assign a key to it (by default it’s X I believe)
hey, i got the same joystick. And when i plug it into the USB it takes over controll of my view wich i control with my mouse actually.

It’s the order you plug them in, you can also add keybinds back in. Try resetting your keybinds too with both plugged in and then tailor them to your liking after that 👍
i am not getting the target on the tree. what setting do i need on? my auto alignment is not working even though i have it turned on. Any help please

Easy arm control needs to be turned on
THE TRACKS MOVE WIDER ON THIS ONE BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND THE BINDINGS AS OF YET. sorry for the caps
there are two options to switch too on teh vehicle, if press G you can switch between them (there is a small 1 and 2 above the icon in the top left corner) then you need to hold your left (or right) mouse button down (sorry not at my gaming PC to check) and move the mouse left and right to extend them.

Sounds like your range is wrong check it’s set to 900 degrees in the main menu settings or in Logitech Ghub
for some reason i cant get any of the keys to cut tools anything i try it dont work
Have you set them up in the keybinds?
these settings are easy but the problem is how its affecting on other controls as well, like view
By default when you plug in the joystick, it adds view controls, I just delete these so there aren't any clashes

Good info but missing a few things, you did not show the binding to cut etc. These menu settings for fs22 are terrible. Don't know why they can't make a binding section for each tool type. Would be so much easier if it just said like logging tools then all the controls associated
The binding to cut I didn't change from the default that's already set up which is X

Whether such machines must be 2 joysticks, otherwise it does not make sense
I did this for people who only have access to 1 joystick

Thank you for the walk trough on how to set controls for the Thrustmaster T.16000M, I ordered one yesterday and got it today, been messing with a few controls on it, but I couldn't get the buttons to work how I wanted them. This will help me alot :D
