Thanks for stopping by Kyle. I’m so glad you enjoyed the car (fell a little back in love with it) and agreed on the throttle remapping. Can’t wait to see you Norway adventure next week /Morten
I haven't driven one but I find it interesting that it is "lacking" for $70k and then you mention the Model Y. I have the model Y long range and it has the cheapest interior materials, everything rattles or squeaks, and it rides like a cabbage cart with square wheels. Price out a Model Y Performance (same crappy quality as long range I'm sure) and it's $73,990
Its fun to watch someone that really appreciate all the Volvos. I am kind of tired of them at this point being a Swede but i do think they look very good. So funny to see someone so happy seeing Volvos!😂
I've got a mint, very original, very low mileage1967 P1800s and a not so mint 1964 Amazon 122s with a B20 single carb in place of the B18.. used to have a 142 and a 144GL (injection) remember the 262c testing in Scotland (Morayshire) before it went into production......seriously good machines! My son's first car was an S60 with the small 1.7 diesel but with the R-Design pack, so it looked fast...

Great video, Kyle. I was in the Swedish countryside some years back for a friend's wedding. Absolutely beautiful country, beautiful people. Driving a Polestar through there is living the dream, man.
Just drove my XC40 P8 from mid Norway (Trondheim) to Genova Italy. 6200km. Charged only on Ionity, and didn't have one problem with the car. No overheating, even with driving on the autobahn, and back to back Ionity charging, with AC on (because I travelled with my dog). Only problem I had , was the heavy ionity cable/plug, so that the charging stopped when I let go of it. Long, but a nice drive :)
I test drove a Volvo XC Recharge. Like this car, it reminded me of other Volvos -solid build and nice overall - a Swedish car! Nice to know Volvo is still making good Swedish cars with Geely Auto Group ownership. Thanks Kyle. PS I love cows, cars, windmills, bridges, beautiful countryside and all too!
We have a Polestar 2 DMLR went non performance with Pilot & Plus options you can have the good HK sounds and do software Performance update so looking forward to that. The HK stereo system makes a difference and is worth it. Great review Kyle considering software upgrade now!
Awesome, you should do a more planned trip to Sweden some time. Visit Volvo HQ (see if they can give you a tour of the Torslanda factory, they were open to it before covid, don't know if it's open again), visit the Volvo museum, and in Trollhättan visit the SAAB museum. I have very fond memories of Torslandaverken growing up and my father taking me there and showing me around the factory and offices as he worked in R&D there during the P2 and P3 times.
This is perhaps my favorite EV out there, just wish they'd update the charging architecture and use the latest Android automotive hardware that the Polestar 3 will use.
"They must have a lot of head-on collisions here..." I agree with him and I love how he so nonchalantly popped that one out almost under his breath. Priceless.
25:30 The place on the left is a restaurant/fika place (coffee shop) called Café Utsikten meaning Café Lookout/View. You can sit and eat outside and enjoy the view. It's already closed for the season but you should try it another time. Really cool to see you drive these small backroads I've driven probably 100 times.
I've been living with my Polestar 2 Performance pack for about 6 months and agree with most of the comments. My car has had a few Android Automotive related software glitches and occasional issues with LTE connectivity, but it has never stranded or died on me. I have had none of the TCAM issues you read about on the forums. While watching I noticed the "groaning" of the AC compressor mount after your first DC charge. This is a known issue (especially loud on left hand turns) and there is a replacement part out for that now. The battery can get pretty toasty on a DC charger and it will definitely heat up more when using the AC, since there is only one compressor for both the battery and car cooling loops. They really should be separate. This has proved to be the real "achille's heel" for the car in very hot south Texas summers and efficiency REALLY suffers. One final note: the performace power upgrade is still AWOL in the U.S. after a year of discussion, and speculation is that it has to do with the dealer-based sales model in the US versus the direct sales model elsewhere. In any case, I find the 408hp to be more than adequate and not sure I'll spring for it since I'm already 20% through my lease and I won't be buying it. Otherwise, it's a very compelling car to drive and that's why I got one. Great video Kyle!
Yeah I'm in San Antonio TX With A XC40 Recharge (Mechncically similar battery & Motors) and it gets toasty in the summer with DC changers or even AC Charging. The fans kick on and stay on High to help try to cool the front radiator when it's stationary. You can feel the heat vented out through the front wheel wells. I really do wish they had a more robust cooling design for the car I guess that might be an oversight given the design out of Sweden? Side note the Performance upgrade is AWOL for the Polestar 2 in the US like you said and its damn near vaporware status for the Volvo Cars of the C40 & XC40 saddly.
I did an test drive at an Auto Show and just like he says the power so good & when I got to speed then even more power!!!!!comes on WOW!!! LOVED IT! I would get his car if I ever have the $$$$ haha :( lol
Loved the review Kyle! I have a Polestar 2 non performance pack, but with everything else, and the Napa leather, the "vegan" interior looked cheap to me, but if being vegan is important to you have at it. I purchased mine in June, when you couuld still get the $7500 tax credit, now it doesn't qualify, so my "final" price will be closer to $60k and $70. Still expensive, but what isn't these days, I ordered it in early March and had it in late June, so not bad. We've not had any of the TCAM issues you see on the forums either. We're in MN, so summer heat isn't as much of an issue, now we'll see what kind of range hit we'll get in the winter! BTW, we've owned it for about 3 months and still have't done a dc fast charge, all level 2 at home.
Got mine first week of June and from what I could gather, we should still qualify for the federal tax credit of $7500. All PS2 ordered 8/26 or later do not qualify. I could be wrong of course but I sure hope not.
You were not able to use live mapping. Wonder if the car was suffering from widespread Polestar telematics bugs like TCAM? Polestar has a major issue here and needs this fixed.
Hey Kyle I saw a very similar car to this last week. Same color, wheels, yellow brakes, interior treatments, etc. It has the white decal on the doors, but not the white badge on the front.
Few weeks back, I saw a truck full of Polestars! Good stuff, Kyle. Thanks for engaging, encouraging and providing wealth of information by producing endless content, mate. Not as easy as it looks with different logistics but you guys make it happen! I like the idea of bringing your own charging cable. Eliminates vandalism, but then again, that sort of thing is quite rare in those parts. I would like to see States adapt this type of stalls for EVs. Speaking of charging stations, there is another Tesla Superchargers are being installed in Alaska, and EVGo and EA can’t get their head and elbows wired together for consistencies in providing charging. Sorry, I go on and on like a broken record, but it’s the reality. Hoping that changes overtime. Keep up the great work! 🍻
The timing of this video is a funny concidence. I was also in Copenhagen around August 18th then we did a day in Malmo and a couple of night in Gothenburg and finished with Stockholm. By train you get no view of the bridge as the train is under the cars. I saw lots of ID4 in Copenhagen and in Stockholm. There were quite a few Mercedes EQB, EQE, EQS and EQS SUV in Copenhagen. Stockholm had more ID4 and Polestar I'd say. Not that much Volvo compared to Gothenburg where there's tons of them. We went to Gothenburg mostly for the Volvo Museum and I highly recommend it. Sweden for a small country has very good rail system. The train reaches 200 KM and pass frequently. Unfortunately, it's very late during our trip we had the idea to open a Aimoshare account (it's an EV car sharing app. They have mostly ID3 and ID4). We wanted to test drive an ID4 as in Montreal, QC, it's pretty much not possible. I have a reservation for the Ioniq 5 but with close to 2 years delay, I'm seriously considering the Polestar 2 single motor with the Plus package. The thing that sucks with Polestar is they require the Plus package just for ACC and the Premium Package for the heat pump. Quite anoying !
Another incorrect reporting of the polestar 2!!! The early version's performance package had no power upgrade. Just brakes, suspension, yellow seatbelts and gold valvestem caps!! The new 2023 performance package is supposed to include the power bump of 68 ponies to bring it to 476 HP.
I drove a rental Polestar 2, and I found the seating to be like my old Pinto-sitting in a bathtub. Other than that, and the weird delay when opening the tailgate, it worked well enough.

In Sweden it is very common to have engine heater poles. that is, electrical connection for the engine heater and electric compartment heater in the car, even for completely ordinary petrol cars. The Swede does not want to come out to a cold car and especially in northern Sweden it can get quite cold. you can e.g. see engine heater poles outside apartments. But still so that those who rent out apartments may have set a limit on how one sees why the cabin heater has, for example, 600 W. ok, even if they accept each other, a maximum of a 6 A fuse can handle it, so it's not a question of any fast charger generally outside rental apartments
I have a 407 horsepower polestar 2 four wheel drive. But I don't recognize myself when it comes to consumption in winter, it uses quite a lot. But in the summer I'm somewhere between 15.0 kw per hundred km or around 17.0 kw per 100 km on the motorway. Massaging seats is something I don't use, and the idea of Polestar is that almost no one uses it
Polestar please offer a interior trim not in black for pillars and roof lining , especially with the lighter interior trims , fit a mechanical window shade for the roof not pop in shades even with the glass roof a lot of people don’t like dark interior trims even if it is a cost option I’ll be happy, for the displays please allow users to customise the icon colour, especially for colourblind owners . It’s a simple software tweeked so please add that at the next software upgrade, and when will we see a larger pack option and upgraded ccs charging
I have this exact spec. The performance software is going to be available in the US, hopefully it's later this year. The new 2023 models with the performance package will already have this upgrade. I do agree that you definitely should be able to do a little understeer when pushing the car. I hope that Polestar figures that out soon. I really love this car and I'm very happy with my purchase. Good review 👍🏿
I saw a completely black polestar the other day. Hated it. I can't understand why anybody would want a black one. Can't see any of the lines or details in the body so it looks like a really plain looking sedan. The only reason I realized it was a polestar was the badge on the hood. A very nice looking car when you can see the details.
I have a fully spec'd Polestar 2. The driving experience is great. The tech is terrible. Choosing Android to operate basically everything was a bad choice. The system has to be restarted constantly. The backup camera freezes all the time. How does that happen? If I set it to charge to 90% overnight it will charge to 95%, or 62%, or maybe 78%. It stops at random SOC above or below the setting. A bright spot is I have never had an issue charging at a public charger. It always makes the connection on EA, EVGO, ChargePoint, Volta, whatever.
Agreed, the Android UI is what caused me to skip on this car. They really need to build a new infotainment UI from scratch that’s closer to Apple quality.
I have a 2023 performance PS2 which includes the software update, the door stickers even show it...but I'm missing the front badge 🙁 never came with the car and I haven't been bothered to ask polestar support about it
Fantastic video as per usual! There’s something about me that wants to love the car, but something just doesn’t feel right! When are you coming to England?
Nice review mate. Did you actually try non performance edition? Curious what you thought of it in comparison to performance. Does it really feel that much less sporty?
Yes, it is, though it's strange that he got 4.5 seconds 0-100kmh. That translates to about 4.3 seconds to 60mph. I get 4.2 seconds 0-60mph in my standard 300kw PS2, so maybe he was going slightly uphill? I was hoping the 350kw upgrade would knock the 0-100km time down to 4 sec flat, and a 0-60mph around 3.8 or 3.9. Either way, the car is definitely fast enough.
I have to say that compared to driving an s-class or an Audi svariant or even a BMW m car nothing compares to how much presents this poster too has it will rival the presence of any Rolls-Royce or Bentley it says I am a sophisticated modern yet traditional sensible but debonair person
Too concerned with special interests and monetary greed in the US to move any quicker to the future. Always fight change due to those who will lose their investment in the status quo!
Regardng the small roads... They take speed limits very seriously when it is 70 or 50 kmh roads... Head on collisions happen mostly at higher speed, people suiciding into a truck...
Kyle, when the battery was overheating, you mentioned something about running the AC. Can you share more of your thoughts on that? Do you think that would actually help?
A friend of mine has the Polestar 2 in England. The charging infrasture has made him consider getting rid of it as the car is fine but the charging doesn't work for him (and he charges at home at a cheap rate). Its just too much bother, too long, too many chargers don't work, too many are not enough KW speed, and he is literally carrying 14 different cards and apps for charging. Even Tesla don't seem to have anywhere enough chargers with some parts of England being very poorly serviced with infrastructure. Its a shame really as his wife has an Audi EV too and it looks like the both will shift over to hybrid as they can't be bothered living in queues on any trips or worse trundling in at home in the early hours due to lack of availability.
In Sweden you mostly have to worry about the fixed cameras, which are always(?) in combination with warning signs, since, you know, you cant take pictures of people just like that :-)
You really don’t need the performance pack suspension and brakes unless you are doing track days all the time. I have the DM with OTA performance upgrade on 19in wheels and performance is awesome., particularly, as you say, midrange performance. No booming with the std suspension and 19in wheels. Handling on bendy roads is as good as my VW Golf R if not better with than powering out of corners.
The thermal limiting on the charge is very weird. I charge all the time at 105°F for 20 min in the sweet part of the curve just like you did and ive never seen thermal limiting.
Supercharging the Polestar in Sweden (at least) seems not work if you have a foreign bank card linked to your Tesla app. I am not 100% sure on that so could anyone else corroborate this?
Volvo will never allow this SW upgrade. Would be nice if they increase the 180km/h (112mph) speed limit as well. Did Polestar increase their speed limit?
Thanks for stopping by Kyle. I’m so glad you enjoyed the car (fell a little back in love with it) and agreed on the throttle remapping. Can’t wait to see you Norway adventure next week /Morten

Can't see any of the lines or details in the body so it looks like a really plain looking sedan. The only reason I realized it was a polestar was the badge on the hood. A very nice looking car when you can see the details.
My polestar starts charging only when starting the Tesla app first, then plug in the car.
such a good review!
Welcome to Sweden
"let's find something healthier".... (10secs later) "...looks like mcdonals it is... 🤣"
@@NickFrey1 ehh I'd rather not have any form of an Apple interface. The AAOS ui is simple, elegant, and functional.
I thought the OS was one of the selling points of the car?
I have a 2023 performance PS2 which includes the software update, the door stickers even show it...but I'm missing the front badge 🙁 never came with the car and I haven't been bothered to ask polestar support about it
Beautiful car! How does the drive compares with a BMW i4 eDrive40 AWD?
Fantastic video as per usual!
There’s something about me that wants to love the car, but something just doesn’t feel right!
When are you coming to England?
You should have tried the Swedish burger joint MAX. Even better. 😎👍
Nice review mate. Did you actually try non performance edition? Curious what you thought of it in comparison to performance. Does it really feel that much less sporty?
He presses the cancel button. "It cancelled my whole trip???"
Nice scenery!
I suppose this is similar to "acceleration boost" on the Teslas?
Yes, it is, though it's strange that he got 4.5 seconds 0-100kmh. That translates to about 4.3 seconds to 60mph. I get 4.2 seconds 0-60mph in my standard 300kw PS2, so maybe he was going slightly uphill? I was hoping the 350kw upgrade would knock the 0-100km time down to 4 sec flat, and a 0-60mph around 3.8 or 3.9. Either way, the car is definitely fast enough.
26:20 most northern countries requires you to keep headlights on all the time.
Best car on planet earth
I have to say that compared to driving an s-class or an Audi svariant or even a BMW m car nothing compares to how much presents this poster too has it will rival the presence of any Rolls-Royce or Bentley it says I am a sophisticated modern yet traditional sensible but debonair person
Unfortunately my PS2 has a couple of really annoying rattles, I need to take it to a service center but haven't yet
Will we get an out of spec motoring road trip video??
looks real nice
Those darn Suhner Huber cables…
I wish the great USA could keep up with other countries like this taking better initiative with their green energy and infrastructure...
No more so great …….. we’re devolving into mediocrity.
Too concerned with special interests and monetary greed in the US to move any quicker to the future. Always fight change due to those who will lose their investment in the status quo!
Need the upgrade in NA!
I think your Tesla account has to be native to a non Tesla open country, so being US account probably is the reason you didn't get a charge
Regardng the small roads... They take speed limits very seriously when it is 70 or 50 kmh roads... Head on collisions happen mostly at higher speed, people suiciding into a truck...
Are those seats Charcoal? I wish you’d have told us. I’m awaiting my car so need to know.
Just to clarify Kyle. The poop are from the animals :D
Kinda lost there for a minute. Where you on your way to the ferry? :D
Lol so it's just like every other Volvo (middle of the road and safe) . 👍Gotcha Next!
30:49 they are 175KW
So you have in the car difrent drive setting? But you need to stop get outside jack up the car and then set the suspension set up ???
Kyle can you wrap the handle with a wet cloth like you have with Tesla?
I could not stand the boominess of my prestige e-tron and sold it due to that. Constant ear pressure. I tried Tesla Model Y and same issue.
Should have tried the ikea meatballs 😅😅
That middle console is so obnoxious! Lol it’s like you’re sitting in a fighter jet cockpit.
Kyle, when the battery was overheating, you mentioned something about running the AC. Can you share more of your thoughts on that? Do you think that would actually help?
Also, why can't Ionity (or EU company) be running some sort of competition to the current infrastructure in the US?
In regards to value, I pay $538/month for a lease on a 2021 PS2. Not bad for a $63k vehicle. Granted those lease deals are all but gone now.
This car have rear heated seats that I might be interested in.
I always worry for you when you stop, do the acceleration, and go fast on streets in Europe. You never know where the mobile speed cameras are! 😬
Mobile speed cameras? What!?
In Sweden you mostly have to worry about the fixed cameras, which are always(?) in combination with warning signs, since, you know, you cant take pictures of people just like that :-)
Bjorn style xD ....should have contacted him :P
You really don’t need the performance pack suspension and brakes unless you are doing track days all the time. I have the DM with OTA performance upgrade on 19in wheels and performance is awesome., particularly, as you say, midrange performance. No booming with the std suspension and 19in wheels. Handling on bendy roads is as good as my VW Golf R if not better with than powering out of corners.
Strange things are afoot at the circle k.
The thermal limiting on the charge is very weird. I charge all the time at 105°F for 20 min in the sweet part of the curve just like you did and ive never seen thermal limiting.
It's normal for this old EV platform. The car overheats on the ring too and has so many telematics issues. Very poor quslity car. Made in China.
@@klaus8458 what a pile of racist horseshit.
@@klaus8458 the car... doesn't overheat on the ring. look at misha's lap
Scion TC 2 gen but four-door and electric
for some reason this video isn't loading for me... not having problems loading any other TH-cam videos...
Supercharging the Polestar in Sweden (at least) seems not work if you have a foreign bank card linked to your Tesla app. I am not 100% sure on that so could anyone else corroborate this?
It’s a bummer polestar 2 lost access to the US tax credit and suffers from a 30% tariff on Chinese made cars. It takes it off my list for sure.
Some will still buy them. Watch the used market now.
Volvo will never allow this SW upgrade. Would be nice if they increase the 180km/h (112mph) speed limit as well. Did Polestar increase their speed limit?
Yes. To 205 km/h.
