I really loved the extra time and care that was given to their relationship in this movie. Them bonding in Eric's treasure room, the "little mermaid" figurine, Ariel getting to tell him her name herself and his reaction being changed from "Ariel? that's kinda pretty." to ""That's a beautiful name, written in the stars.", him holding her closer when she changed back into a mermaid instead of letting go and being shocked
I completely agree! I loved every single change and additions they made. To me, everything made sense and only added to the story to make it that much better.
Thank you. I finally found a positive comment. I actually like that it was drawn out. It makes me care about all these characters more (well I didn't care about many of them before), and I think it makes it better than the original
Fun fact: The woman in the marketplace that gives Ariel the "dinglehopper" is Jodie Benson, the original voice for Ariel in the animated classic. Such a nice "passing of the torch" if you ask me.
It's even funnier when you know in the original story, the little mermaid is tasked with killing the prince so she can become a mermaid again and save her life.
The library scene and the other ways they deepened the relationship between Ariel and Eric alone makes this remake worth it (plus they lucked out with Halle and Jonah having amazing chemistry).
You see the glass mermaid ornament that Eric gave Ariel?...that's how the original author described the little mermaid over 150 years before the animated version...author quote said ''her skin was clear and delicate as a rose leaf'' which is the color of green...that's why the ornament was glass because it's clear and delicate but also green, And the only thing that was accurate to how the mermaid was suppose to look between both mermaids from the original and live remake was their green fish tales.
When Scuttle talks about Flounder telling "the whole story - has Ariel killed the prince yet" it is a clever reference to the original Hans Christian Andersen story. In the end the mermaid is told to kill the prince to become a mermaid again but she can not go through with it.
I didn't realize that Ariel only sings one song in the original animated film. The song Halle sings when she's fished out of the ocean, on the way to the prince's house is about how the surface world was not what she expected: corsets, shoes, people fishing and eating fish, the prince not recognizing her and how gravity keeps pulling her down. I never thought about how a mermaid who floats in water all the time would feel having to deal with gravity.
I am wondering if some of these new songs were featured on the stage musical. I know that Disney created the musical for stage (Broadway?), like how B&tB was made into a stage musical with extra songs. I do think this is my favorite Live Action Disney remake; they kept all the good stuff and feels while making subtle adjustments and giving more development time to the characters. 👏 They did this remake right whereas the B&tB remake somehow took away from the humanity of the original and added unnecessary details that didn’t aid in the storytelling.
i do believe all the new songs were written by lin manuel miranda for this movie. not to say the musical doesnt have any original songs, im just not familiar with them. also, the ascending note halle does on 'above' in 'part of your world' is similar to how its sung in the musical
She is Ariel. I always knew the original characters but once I saw the movie I was in the cinema thinking this always have been Ariel. You really believe her❤
I love how Halle put the bar so high with her voice that the casting director and the director agreed they wouldn't find any better. She was a revelation
Yes this version definitely gives Ariel and Eric a genuine relationship based on mutual relatability versus the animated film is just two good looking ppl just fall in love with each other
Not really - they did have chemistry in the original. It felt rushed as the movie was shorter. The live action is much longer, so of course more time can be dedicated to that. Ariel and Eric bonded well in both the animated and live action Little Mermaids (and yes, I did watch the live action, and I thought it was great).
I loved The Little Mermaid! It was a great film, I'm sad it got backlash because I think it can be enjoyed by everyone. Halle's voice is magical and so alluring, she carried this film on her back for sure
i understand that "wild uncharted waters" is not for everyone, but i love it very much. ariel's siren in the background, eric's desperation and yearning for things that he desires, how he's full of compliments to ariel, and how the notes on this song is the reverse of "part of your world"... jonah hauer-king did a fairly good performance in delivering the emotions both in the singing and the acting. and i think that this live action is more gentle in a few aspects. there's something gentle about ariel, about eric and the other characters, about the relationships, and it just touched me. they gave eric and his relationship with ariel so much more personality and it just makes more sense for me. also, did you guys not cry a bit at that scene where ariel helps max to get to the boat:((
aww yes thank you, i didn’t know a few people didn’t like it afterwards, i saw it in the theaters but i’m glad i know because to me i enjoyed it! i thought it was neat, beautiful and a clever perspective of Eric’s view on the things he wants and desires including finding the girl (Ariel) lol with the voice. it was a nice new touch to the story because we’re seeing more of his story and what he wants in his life.
wild uncharted waters is one of my favorite disney songs, halles background vocal’s really help what the song is trying to tell. like you said its erics version of part of your world
I didnt like wild unchartinh waters at first but now its on repeat on my spotify. I wish the acting qould have been different he looked a but ridiculous in the first part of it xD imo
I liked it but it felt stalker-ish, both of them felt too obssessed with one another in the live action. I think it fits? as they are both are from different worlds they would have been fascinated by each other.
When I went to see this in theaters I was about so sob over part of your world, but right as the finishing line was being delivered, a kid in the theater went “Why is she crying?” Super loud, and so I ended up cackling like a madman instead. 😂
@@chris1995-l8w More like a "after the wedding" farewell party because they were departing the island to explore. TBH most animated films back in the day just end with the wedding as the "happily ever after" trope. This one took a different approach and skipped the whole wedding and went straight to the epilogue.
I went to see this movie on my birthday with my parents. I enjoyed it. Halle did an amazing job as Ariel. Beautiful voice. Melissa as Ursula was awesome. I'm in love with Prince Eric❤ Also, I spottef one of Ariel's sisters being Kate Sharma from Bridgerton. Great reaction
Fun fact: Halle Bailey had to have help with that iconic hair flip. It took her about twenty times or so to get the perfect hair flip. Someone was underwater helping her with the iconic hair flip
@@crownguard8936yea from experience dreads are REALLY heavy on your neck and hers naturally are really long so that plus the wig they gave her have to be a nightmare on her neck. props to her
I think the only stumble they made with Part of Your World was nor recreating that slow sink back to the bottom of her grotto, in the original that always was so sad for me. It showed how repressed she feels, and like there is no way for her to be apart of the human world.
so truee, but i think the purpose of it is like the viewers thinks she's still reaching up that hole but she's already at the bottom giving the illusion that she's so close yet so far and possibly might not have a chance to reach it, hence why Halle's version is more determined and passionate, different from Jodi's wistful longing and hopefulness. What I would have loved for them to recreate is how Ariel in the animated version did the "burn" part.
@@TwilightLuluFleur I see your point it was just a little smash cut for me. Also with all the rigging she was hooked up to probably would have made that shot a nightmare to film lol. I do agree 100% if the kept the burn moment in the song, it would have made more impact when she actually did touch the fire and felt the pain of it even more significant. But hey choices.
@@LadyAstarionAncuninmaking something your own vs staying true to the original film are 2 different things. It’s hard to song and act at the same time. Singing is obviously Halles stronger talent. Jodi Benson successfully delivered BOTH the “I want” sound in her voice along with singing. Halles version was cool but it just felt like a regular singing performance
They made Eric as a character waayy more in depth which I really appreciated. I liked how him and Ariel were very similar as individuals and they connected on that
I think of them like the dogs, cats etc. of the ocean. Like the mermaid and certain fish can talk because they would be seen as the humans of the sea. Idk, but that's how I saw it. Lol
I really enjoyed this movie. Ariel and Eric are magic together, the chemistry is just flawless! I took my parents to see it in theaters and the sleeper surprise was how enthralled my dad was. Towards the end, he was gazing almost dreamily at the screen as he took in the reunion and marriage. Cutest thing I've seen in a long time, that's enough for me. I'm also a massive Daveed Diggs fan so that was a huge bonus lol
You two are having so much fun with the movie, and I can't get past how absolutely ~adorable~ your cat is, especially with you cuddling them that whole time. 😊 💕
I grew up with the original and this remake tops it to me. Love the extra time spent on the relationship and the time we get with Ariel’s inner thoughts.
@@teaa_m.s9887 the original has some great moments that aren’t in the live action (like Ursula’s second verse) but this film feels more complete. I wish they did more with the sisters like brought them into the final fight for something more epic but covid had the movies budget already too high.
Ok it’s your choice but the original will always be the more iconic one. This one isn’t perfect had a couple flaws. Like how Ariel kills Ursula when it should’ve been Eric. So King Triton could see not all humans are bad

As someone who doesn't like the original animated movie, I appreciate the nuances they added, especially with Ariel and Eric's relationship. I love that Eric is enticed by Ariel's siren song, but then by getting to know her, he becomes free from the spell and actually falls for her. Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King are great in the roles. And the emphasis on Ariel wanting to be free rather than just running away for a man is a great plot point.

It made it even better and I absolutely loved it!! 😂😭💕 You both are so cute and Olivia looks amazing with the ginger hair colour, can’t wait for more Greg & Olivia reactions together!! ✨
Anyone who goes back and rewatches the Chef Louis scenes from the animated movie will understand why it would NOT work in live action. It was very psychotically violent and all the animal rights groups would be at arms.
@@HaydrogenBomb exactly; things like bugs vs elmer, tom vs jerry were more prevelent and seen as just funny little things (even though some of the tom and jerry stuff and the stuff with that dog and kitten made me kinda :/ as a kid) but today you don't see that much anymore. maybe for good reason, who knows. but yeah i think in a modern standpoint it wouldn't make sense to have this cartoon romp in the story .it just wouldn't fit
More people should give this movie a chance it deserves! I have to admit, I was very skeptical of this version. I didn’t like the trailers, which was a let down because of how much I love the animated one. But I went to see it in the theaters anyway and turned out loving this movie sooo much I watched it 3 more times in the theater 😆 Loved all the more fleshed out relationships here, and I think that is one of the strengths this movie has compared to the animation. Still and will always love the OG version, but I love this one too so very much ❤️
I regret by not seeing this at the theatres...I remember when seeing the trailers and just thought that it wouldn't be good only because it's a remake...but when it was available on streaming I thought I should give it a shot...so I watched it and I loved it, I just hope they at least make a sequel so I can see it on the big screen next time with my family.
It was so much hate from a minority of people who was extremely well organized and I think it cost the film. I never saw the original but just bits and pieces through the years. I’m gonna have to watch it. This was quite enjoyable
That’s exactly why Halle Bailey got the part of Ariel!! Exactly because of her singing and she nailed the part so well. No explanation needed , people are still angry and disappointed that she got the part. It’s so heartbreaking to see people so mad over her nationality or skin color. It doesn’t matter what your skin color is, as long as she can act, sing and dance that’s all that matters
Exactly! I was super mad at those against her as well. Besides, several other characters were of color. Those out there got to view people if color as the same as us. Life isn’t always about looks(ex. Love is not by looks but by ones character)
@@homecmng1 The location is wrong. What's more funny is, that it's a Danish/European fairy tale, then Disney came and gave them Greek names and now they've changed the location too. It's a cultural mess.
eric looked so desperately in love, he was simping HARD ! Can't blame him Halle as Ariel was gorgeous and she had so much emotion in her eyes ! Idk how to explain it but she really has that pure and curious quality that Ariel has. They had really good chemistry and their relationship was so so cute in the movie Also i know a lot of us were a bit surprised by the scuttlebut song but kids LOVED it lol
Edit: This is way longer than I expected it to be, I just started rambling lmao Absolutely loved this movie, and I'm glad you both enjoyed it. I agree that it handled all the personal relationships so much more believably than the animated movie. Eric just had so much more character, which allowed for him and Ariel to have way more chemistry than they did previously. And I did buy into Ariel and Triton's father/daughter relationship more, but I think Triton was far too understated. The destruction of Ariel's grotto did have way less energy to it than the animated version of the scene. Originally, Ariel sounded *desperate* for Triton to stop blasting away, whereas this version really downplayed her devastation. Plus, the dramatic lighting of the animated scene really added to the tension, but I can't see any way they really could have replicated that in live action. As far as character relationships, I do wish they had done more with her sisters. They were so beautifully designed and it really would have been nice to get a better grasp on what Ariel's relationship with her sisters was like. My main critiques really just boil down to design choices here and there. Flounder, of course, is my biggest gripe. Honestly, him just being a little bigger and more yellow would fix all the issues. Being mainly white kinda made his features disappear so you can't really see him emoting as well as you can with Scuttle or Sebastian. Especially Scuttle, I'm still impressed with how well animated her face is while still looking like a realistic bird. My other issues are a more minor. I think Ariel's top could look better. I like the purple scales idea, but making just look like a bandeau is a tad boring. I think they should have had it actually be connected to the rest of her scales, like they did with her sisters. Her blue dress was cute, but color-wise it was a little bland, just being the same color throughout. Even if the bodice was a different color, that would've helped. The pink dress at the end was cute, but it looked way too similar in shape to the blue dress, so it felt kind of monotonous. And I'm so sad they did away with the sparkly dress Triton made for her! They could've done so much with that! Something with an iridescent shimmer like Triton's armor would have been amazing. But instead we get the tattered remains of her blue dress...
I loved it when I watched it and I love it a little more with each rewatch. I was never attached to the animated original when I was a kid because I knew the fairytale first and I thought the whole thing was ass for Ariel. I was hilariously outraged at 5 years old ☠
Trident isn’t scary cause they made him more sensitive sadly one of the biggest unwelcome changes imo. Team Ursula really brought it tho staying very close to the original
I loved this movie! The casting was perfect and the songs were…better! The music and vocals were insane! I really like that we get to see Eric and April spend more time together one-on-one instead of instantly fall in love. I also how their parallels with their rooms of interest and they could bound over it. I really loved Sebastian’s voice in this. And lastly loved the passing of torch getting to see the voice actor and real life actress is so cool.
I've been looking forward to this movie since Halle was cast way back in 2020. I listened to her and her sister sing in some Disney Christmas special, and I KNEW she'd make a great Ariel. Now, this is EASILY my favorite Disney live-action remake, and no one can take that away from me.
I was hoping you’d react to this! Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney animated and it’s now my favorite live-action, I loved it so much I saw it 4 times in theaters 😂 Halle is just absolutely incredible and the relationship between Ariel and Eric feels so much more real, their chemistry is amazing. The way I see it, the underwater scenes are better in the animated and the on-land scenes are better in the live action.
I’m not sure if anyone already pointed it out yet BUT, Halle Bailey actually is an Aries which made the scene of her trying to tell Eric her name even more special! 🥰
I used to be so irritated with Ariel… She was my least favorite Disney princess, because who would want to be a human when you could be a friggin’ mermaid!? Like, what kind of seaweed are you smoking down there? So I never related to her. But Halle made me truly empathize with Ariel. I understood her curiosity, feeling trapped, longing for something different and less restrictive. Halle did a great job of portraying that. Especially in the songs.
Idk how they would have translated a grown man chasing a crab and trying to kill it into live-action without the audience being terrified instead of laughing. 😂
i like the animated film fine, but don't really feel particularly strong about it - but i did really enjoy the remake just because of how cute and endearing and genuinely convincing this romance was. they really did seem in love with each other in a super organic way
Yeah, your reaction to the beginning was very related to me😂😂. I remember the movie starting seeing the waves and how beautiful they were shooting everything and I almost let out a single tear. And then the harpoon seemed like it almost hit me in the face and I was so confused 😂😂
Aside from a particular new song or two, I’ll never understand why this movie copped so much hate! It’s beautifully made and a great live-action take on a classic ❤
And not just the movie but hate directed at Halle herself - sadly the times we are now in, some see it okay to make very nasty comments to a star purely cause they can't handle them being in that role which in Halle's case is even more out of order considering from all the backstage/ interview clips with her how you see she has the most endearing bubbly personality that any sane individual would warm to.
Something I loved about Tritan's daughters. There are seven of them, so, the represent the seven seas. Which is why the daughters have ethnicities that reflect the seas they rule over.
i loved this movie the original was great and i enjoyed it as a kid and this one enhanced my love for the story and the character ive seen it so many times already and will be rewatching it again for a very long time! Halle's facial emotions were amazing
I loved this movie! I also enjoy the animated one as well, but I felt that Disney went more into Ariel's and Eric's story in this version. Ariel and her sisters have the same mom according to Disney. Apparently, in mermaid biology, the mom and dad can be one race, and then the offspring can be different. King Triton is the son of Poseidon. In Greek mythology, the gods always gave off some crazy offspring. So yeah makes sense. Also, mermaids are immune to jelly tentacle stings due to numerous reasons. Anyways, great movie!
Honestly comments like this bother the MESS out of me. You can have your opinion but the fact is there are MILLIONS of talented singers/actresses in the world. If Halle never became a celeb you wouldn’t know who she is. Diseny would STILL be doing TLM remake and would find someone else talented and capable. And would’ve gotten the same comment about “being the best one”. Also I disagree about the emotion part. Jodi’s version of “part of your world” has a balance of singing /acting. Ariel wasn’t just singing to give a performance. You could HEAR the desperation of her voice. She spoke/sang instead of just singing. Vocals Are definitely Halles stronger point versus acting.
Great reaction and review! Personally, I really love all the additions, including the new songs, specially Eric's and Ariel's. I loved the parallels and how much they fleshed out his character and the romance 🥺 all of that made me love this movie even more than the original (it was already my favorite!). I also thought the animals were pretty cute and funny, I didn't think I would like them as much as I did! The whole cast was perfection! I do agree with your criticisms about the final conflict feeling a little bit rushed, maybe they kept it shorter because it couldn't go so long without a song! 🤣
When I saw Jodi Benson's cameo watching it in theaters, I got excited because I've met her and she's probably the most down to earth celebrity I've ever met!
I loved it. There are only a few things I wish there was more of Triton and Ursula's relationship since they are siblings in this version. If there was a hint as to why he banished her. (Wouldn't mind a prequel.)Perhaps more of with Ariel and her sisters. But overall it is one of the better live actions. All of the changes work for the better in the overall story. I think the Scuttlebutt song is more so for the kids. I don't think it was needed overall, but I get why. I liked the other new songs.
@@TaritaLavern I also wouldn’t have minded more of the sisters. I miss “Daughters of Triton” but understand how it doesn’t fit the tone of the movie (like with “Les Poissons”). Agree about “Scuttlebutt” being more for the kids-in tone and in story-telling ways. But I liked it. Definitely not necessary for the movie or plot but the movie needed a little more “fun”/lightheartedness. I’d love a prequel! But I think the only way it would make sense would to be a full-blown Ursula origin story with her as the primary focus with a younger version of her cast. I just *hope* they wouldn’t try to go the route of making her a sympathetic villain like with Maleficent and even Cruella (both fantastic movies). Sometimes the bad guy or gal should just stay BAD, lol. That’s why I love Ursula-because she’s unapologetically, deliciously evil!
I actually liked the quote that was used at the beginning from Hans Anderson! Also I loved The Little Mermaid musical which I feel a couple songs would have worked (but prob make the film longer too). Also loved Wild Uncharted Waters honestly get me a blue eyed brown hair guy singing (Zac Efron trained your girl real well to fall for that ish easily)….oh shit Greg’s reaction for scuttlebutt….I cannot wait!
Not only was was Ariel and Ursula perfectly casted but also Scuttle! I loved the soundtrack so much fun fact this is Lin Minuel Miranda’s favorite movie so much so his son is naked Sebastian. So he hates the scene where Sebastian gets cooked that when he was writing for Moana he made the whole song for Tomatoa as a revenge for Sebastian because it’s a crab about to eat human
I disagree with the scuttle part. Aquafina is cool but I don’t like that scuttle got changed into a female. Plus the original 1989 Scuttle is unmatched
I had impure thoughts watching The Little Mermaid in the cinema. Prince Eric in a billowing Mr Darcy shirt coming out of the water 🤭. They knew what they were doing.
"It was perfect!" Literally my first reaction when the credits rolled! I love your review on this! I think this is the best remake and I love the old school feel of it.
First of all: What a beautiful couple! What a beautiful bride! You looked like Snow White or an elf 😊 I liked this adaptation a lot. Two little complaints on my side: way too less wardrobe (I felt robbed) and they could have put more effort into the underwater kingdom. Tommy Ross made a very good re-design on his channel and gave Ariel the stunning dresses she truly would have deserved (he also designed an even more adorable Flounder). Would have been perfect with these designs.
I wasn’t sure about the casting for Ursula at first but honestly she put in the work for it and I think she did pretty great. That was pretty much my only concern about the cast. I still think it would’ve been great if they had casted a drag queen tho.
Misery loves company. Honestly, if I don't like something so arbitrary as a movie and it's been months, I'm not giving it any time of day to complain. It's just childish.

i understand that "wild uncharted waters" is not for everyone, but i love it very much. ariel's siren in the background, eric's desperation and yearning for things that he desires, how he's full of compliments to ariel, and how the notes on this song is the reverse of "part of your world"... jonah hauer-king did a fairly good performance in delivering the emotions both in the singing and the acting. and i think that this live action is more gentle in a few aspects. there's something gentle about ariel, about eric and the other characters, about the relationships, and it just touched me. they gave eric and his relationship with ariel so much more personality and it just makes more sense for me.
also, did you guys not cry a bit at that scene where ariel helps max to get to the boat:((
aww yes thank you, i didn’t know a few people didn’t like it afterwards, i saw it in the theaters but i’m glad i know because to me i enjoyed it! i thought it was neat, beautiful and a clever perspective of Eric’s view on the things he wants and desires including finding the girl (Ariel) lol with the voice. it was a nice new touch to the story because we’re seeing more of his story and what he wants in his life.
wild uncharted waters is one of my favorite disney songs, halles background vocal’s really help what the song is trying to tell. like you said its erics version of part of your world
I didnt like wild unchartinh waters at first but now its on repeat on my spotify. I wish the acting qould have been different he looked a but ridiculous in the first part of it xD imo
I loved the song too. It felt like Eric was singing to me.
I liked it but it felt stalker-ish, both of them felt too obssessed with one another in the live action. I think it fits? as they are both are from different worlds they would have been fascinated by each other.
fun fact: the actor who plays the Queen also played Hermione in the Cursed Child theater play
I saw her on broadway! That play was so good!
When I went to see this in theaters I was about so sob over part of your world, but right as the finishing line was being delivered, a kid in the theater went “Why is she crying?” Super loud, and so I ended up cackling like a madman instead. 😂
Love that Olivia joined the reaction! ♥️
THAT INTRO WAS ACTUALLY HILARIOUS😂😂😂Why is no one talking about it????
Is that really a real wedding they had or is it just a skit?
@@chris1995-l8w More like a "after the wedding" farewell party because they were departing the island to explore.
TBH most animated films back in the day just end with the wedding as the "happily ever after" trope. This one took a different approach and skipped the whole wedding and went straight to the epilogue.
So she called his husband another men name while getting married? That supposed to be okay?

Great Reaction Greg and Olivia! Halle Bailey singing voice is so amazing! 👍
thanks!
Fun fact: Halle Bailey had to have help with that iconic hair flip. It took her about twenty times or so to get the perfect hair flip. Someone was underwater helping her with the iconic hair flip
Groovy
And she almost broke her neck doing it because of how heavy her hair is
@@crownguard8936 that is very believable.
I felt her pain when I saw that hair flip in the trailer, I don't have locs but braids be heavy after the beach/shower lol
I think it's fine because her reaching up always makes me cry because I can feel her desperation. I like that she made it hers.
I liked how him and Ariel were very similar as individuals and they connected on that
Was here for Halle, stayed for your wife. Love this ❤
She’s so fun and cute and she’s like Ariel with the red hair! ❤
Halle is wonderful in this film! The cast and crew were very well put together! I hope you enjoy it!
Dunno what the haters were hating on. They did a great job on this adaptation. It was strange that sharks and eels don’t speak at all…
I think of them like the dogs, cats etc. of the ocean.
I really enjoyed this version of Scuttle, she’s so silly but so sweet to Ariel 🤍
I also love her singing

this really felt like how when we are alone in a living room watching a movie together lol
what we've seen here is that halle bailey wasn't cast to satisfy a woke studio agenda. she was cast because she was best for the part
Darn right
I grew up with the original and this remake tops it to me. Love the extra time spent on the relationship and the time we get with Ariel’s inner thoughts.
Same!! And when I told that to my bff who didn’t watch it yet she said « no way, nothing surpasses the original », weeeeelll
@@teaa_m.s9887 the original has some great moments that aren’t in the live action (like Ursula’s second verse) but this film feels more complete. The love is more easily believed it isn’t just ‘he’s hot’, ‘she’s hot’.

Well said
Ngl, I thought that I clicked on the wrong video but was still excited if it was one where I’d see my Filipino boy get married to the love of his life, but when it revealed that she was the one watching with Greg. It made it even better and I absolutely loved it!! 😂😭💕
You both are so cute and Olivia looks amazing with the ginger hair colour, can’t wait for more Greg & Olivia reactions together!! ✨
Anyone who goes back and rewatches the Chef Louis scenes from the animated movie will understand why it would NOT work in live action. It was very psychotically violent and all the animal rights groups would be at arms.
ya know...I actually think youre right haha. especially with the kind of tone this movie took
Plus, it's just a cartoon romp in the middle of the story. It worked then for that version, but it wouldn't work now for this one.
@@HaydrogenBomb Exactly...
My thoughts exactly. I saw it just to support Halle, and ended up loving the movie so much I saw it 3 more times!
Love is not by looks but by ones character)
wouldnt it make more sense for her to be dark skinned anyway since shes in the caribbean
It was actually ass so, there's that.
@@homecmng1 The location is wrong. What's more funny is, that it's a Danish/European fairy tale, then Disney came and gave them Greek names and now they've changed the location too. It's a cultural mess.
@@kronostvxyou’re mesirable
eric looked so desperately in love, he was simping HARD ! Can't blame him Halle as Ariel was gorgeous and she had so much emotion in her eyes ! Idk how to explain it but she really has that pure and curious quality that Ariel has. They had really good chemistry and their relationship was so so cute in the movie
Also i know a lot of us were a bit surprised by the scuttlebut song but kids LOVED it lol
Well I feel bad for the parents that will be forced to listen to Scuttlebut because of their toddlers😂😂😂
Edit: This is way longer than I expected it to be, I just started rambling lmao
Absolutely loved this movie, and I'm glad you both enjoyed it.
But instead we get the tattered remains of her blue dress...
might be long comment but really enjoyed the detailed feedback and agree!
Im not crying.... that was beautifully funny in the beginning buddy. I Envy yalls relationship. 😩
You mean Ariel not April 😂
But this movie was 10s across the board for me I loved every second of Halle and Melissa
So happy you both enjoyed it 😍
I've been looking forward to this movie since Halle was cast way back in 2020. I listened to her and her sister sing in some Disney Christmas special, and I KNEW she'd make a great Ariel.
Now, this is EASILY my favorite Disney live-action remake, and no one can take that away from me.
She was cast in 2019. It feels even longer than that though. 😆

I honestly prefer this version
You already know this, but imma say it anyway…Olivia is so cute 😭☺️ I loved her reactions

I’m not sure if anyone already pointed it out yet BUT, Halle Bailey actually is an Aries which made the scene of her trying to tell Eric her name even more special! 🥰
I really enjoyed Halle as Ariel absolutely stunning job!
I was surprised they cut Chef Louis outta this version when I saw this in theaters, but I understand why they did
A vegetarian/vegan message would be too much.
I miss it a little, but the movie is long enough.

i like the animated film fine, but don't really feel particularly strong about it - but i did really enjoy the remake just because of how cute and endearing and genuinely convincing this romance was. they really did seem in love with each other in a super organic way
All of Triton’s daughters have the same mother. But because they were born in different waters, they developed differently
I actually enjoyed the film because of Halle’s performance as Ariel.
Your faces when Eric started to sing was hilarious 😂 to suprise haha
Yeah, your reaction to the beginning was very related to me😂😂. I remember the movie starting seeing the waves and how beautiful they were shooting everything and I almost let out a single tear. And then the harpoon seemed like it almost hit me in the face and I was so confused 😂😂
Aside from a particular new song or two, I’ll never understand why this movie copped so much hate! It’s beautifully made and a great live-action take on a classic ❤
And not just the movie but hate directed at Halle herself - sadly the times we are now in, some see it okay to make very nasty comments to a star purely cause they can't handle them being in that role which in Halle's case is even more out of order considering from all the backstage/ interview clips with her how you see she has the most endearing bubbly personality that any sane individual would warm to.
this was such a fantastic movie
ariel was always my favorite growing up and i feel they portrayed her perfectly. these movies are so important to me

I love the way Ariel taught Eric her name. More realistic too
This film really was good. The transition from animation to live action has been improving.
Congrats on the wedding guys
The part when Ariel said part of your world!!!! Was amazing
How can people hate this movie, it's so enjoyable.
I'm sorry but all my attention shifted when the chonk baby came onto the screen. THAT'S THE CUTEST CAT EVERRRR
Oh my God it’s so apparent how much your cat loves you
No other actress could've done Ariel's part as perfectly as Halle did. The emotion in her voice, in her mannerisms... She's Ariel.
Not me barely paying attention to the video and just screaming because I'm seeing Greg's wife for the first time. 💕💕💕

Halle Bailey did a great job as Ariel
I’m with you, man! I loved Awkwafina’s song “Scuttlebutt” and her entire performance.
“They’re trying to blow up the pigeons…” kills me.
Congrats on your wedding and I hope you find amazing homes for the cute kitters! Loved the reaction :)
The woman who portrayed as Vanessa, her name is Jessica Alexander.
I had impure thoughts watching The Little Mermaid in the cinema. Prince Eric in a billowing Mr Darcy shirt coming out of the water 🤭. They knew what they were doing.

First of all: What a beautiful couple! What a beautiful bride! You looked like Snow White or an elf 😊
I liked this adaptation a lot.
Nice to meet you. Thanks for all your work behind the scenes ❤
I love the added song for Eric and the extra scenes with Ariel and Eric
I wasn’t sure about the casting for Ursula at first but honestly she put in the work for it and I think she did pretty great. That was pretty much my only concern about the cast. I still think it would’ve been great if they had casted a drag queen tho.
btw Halle’s name isn’t pronounced Hailey, it’s pronounced the same way Halle Berry’s name is!
It's ok to have different opinions. I just can't understand all these hate over a movie. It's not even over the movie but just over the casting
