I mean, this is kinda true but people are almost making it sound like she committed a crime. I think it's cute and funny, but not to this extent of dramatic. I think it takes a lot of gut to admit/rebuke some kind of horrible thing you did. Not something like this. At least it shouldn't, everyone changes as they get older and people should be more open about it. No big deal.

I really don't think the "dolly phase" was fake or cringe at all. You loved doing it at the time and it was what you enjoyed and that's all that matters so you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. c:
exactly...that's what adolescents/teens do...it's the time to grow, evolve, and "try on" personas to find out all the aspects of your personality...finally settling on one for a while, only to continue to evolve through your whole life. my daughter slams me for letter her go through her (very short-very mild) emo/goth phase. i found it a fascinating phase. watching her explore it was cool for me, and i knew it wouldn't be the one she "settled" on.

It would have been incredibly cringey even if she had been a adolescent at the time.... Doing something that extreme as a hobby just for personal enjoyment would be a different story but that's not what she was doing. She completely immersed herself in being a fake person living a fake life and tried to make everybody think that's who she was.
Its kind of fake to pretend you know Japanese to the extent of having your Japanese teacher feed you lines for your voiceover. It honestly seemed like it was a lot of pressure for her to keep up (which is probably why she went past this phase relatively quickly). This was like a full on quarter life crisis 😂 People change so theres no need to hold onto the past but it feels appropriate to be a bit critical of yourself since we change so much in our 20s. It must be nice to look at things she did at age 24/25 and feel relieved that she’s still enjoying fashion and certain aesthetics without all of the pressure of posturing

The "cringe" videos were basically like performance art. I never thought that this was actually a 100% representation of your life. I thought they were cute. Really enjoy the videos where we get to see more of real life though. Our styles change or at least they should.
As far as styles/stages we go through, I just thank god my styles weren't on youTube. Growing up where people didn't have cell phones let alone ones with cameras on them, was a blessing. There was a lot less pressure.

I had a religious phase when I entered my religious high school. I stop after 3 years since I look kinda different than others. When I look back, I don't regret it but people around me keep pointing it out and that makes me embarrassed 😌 I'm still quite religious now but not too much like my old self 😂

You really don't have to know Japanese to live in Japan. It's very foreigner friendly. She's from Canada, moved to China to do modelling. Moved to Japan, worked as a model. She used to be super in to Otaku culture (dressing super kawaii, doing videos in Japanese) but you can't see a lot of those videos anymore. She's grown up a lot since then but has stayed in Japan because she likes it there. Now she does youtube as her main career with occasional modelling. She used to have a Japanese tutor but with TH-cam being her job she doesn't really NEED to know Japanese fluently anymore.

When I see your videos, I honestly enjoy the little moments when the light shines in your eyes because your best friends hang out with you or do something for you. I've had so many different phases in my life..."skater fashion", emo, scene, kinda a mix of emo and goth, hippie, androgyny, grunge, then i tried mixing both feminine and masculine styles (like wearing a skirt with a boyish shirt), and slowly i started wearing more and more dresses/skirts and now my style is kinda a mix of a few styles but mostly kawaii, doll, korean, harajuku, childish, kinky, all pastel colors and my favorite color combination is pink and white.
Tbh yes, i was cringey at some phases (mostly the emo one probably) but i don't regret anything i did because even if it was cringey, fashion always helped me express myself and made me happier and feel better about myself.
I now get more stares/comments about my current style more than ever, some are good comments and some are bad, but i just ignore them because i love what i wear, i feel beautiful, i feel happy, and that's what really matters.
The determination you went through to make those videos is actually crazy and lowkey inspiring lol I wish I was that motivated for something

I've sort of tried my best to not be cringeworthy my entire life (I'm only 19 still tho). I've only worn blue jeans and clean sweaters because I'd look okay but not notable. I've not worn makeup other than mascara because I wanted to avoid makeup flops. I've never been outspoken because I was terrified of saying something wrong. I've hid my interests because they were nerdy. Looking back at my youth, I was never cringeworthy, not once.
But I think I would've been a lot happier trying out different things and doing whatever I wanted, even if I would regret everything afterwards. Your history as a living doll may be cringey, but at least you tried it, right? At least you had fun with it and lived the way you wanted. And to me it's not that bad, you were an excellent living doll, actually adorable ^^ I'm slowly starting to actually do stuff myself, trying stuff, and it's so much better than trying not to be embarrassing. It's a lot more fun, a lot less stressing. So don't regret it, life's too short~ c:
Even at really bad days, your video make me smile ! I found your channel because I wanted to watch Japanese TH-camrs or TH-camrs living in Japan. I like both Tay, and you didn't looked cringe, being cute is not cringe, it is just different than Western culture.
