- Hello,
Today I am going to be showing you a comparison between the old Xbox 360 Dashboard and the new Xbox 360 Dashboard released yesterday (11-1-10). The update was quite major! It changed a lot of things. I personally like the new Dashboard! It seems snappier, and quicker. The Xbox type being used in this video in the Xbox 360 Slim 4GB Edition Console. Recorded with a Hauppauge and edited in iMovie 11'.

I'm gonna cry, modern day consoles have become so bland and dull, lifeless almost. This brings back so much nostalgia of playing Halo 3 with my cousins, those were the good days

CrappyGamerIs AFuckingFangirl got boot camp with ubunutu. My dad couldn't do it until I came home and Did it like on the first try. Def get a ps4 or ps3 console wise. I have a ps3 and people still paltry and you can play against players with ps4 and syncs with ps vita and download that apps.
Almost 10 years later and this Dashboard still looks better than any of the recent xbox updates. I miss the friends list showing their avatar

this was my favorite 360 dashboard, so clean and easy to navigate, at least I thought so, really nostalgic seeing it again, I wish there was a way to choose to go back to this.

It is like each dashboard represents a windows version :
Oldest (blades) - windows XP
Older(shown in this video) - windows vista/7
Old(shown in this video) - windows 8
Current - windows 10
Funny thing is that the blades era did run a version of XP.
NXE ran Vista and Win 7.
Kinect ran a version of Windows 7 until 8.
Metro ran 8.1.
@Lachlan Szydlak Xbox One was based on Windows 8.1 when it was released in 2014, it's started using Windows 10 after Windows 10 released.
Correction:
the old Blades is based on XP (released in 2005)
the Older UI is based of Windows Vista and 7 (released in Nov 2008)
the old one is based of Windows 7 (released Nov 2010)
and Current one is based of Windows 8/Zune (released in Dec 2011 before Win8 Released).

I’ve always preferred pre Kinect Xbox 360. The system felt so next gen and had a charm but after the Kinect update , the UI felt like it was missing that spark that it use to have .

The updated NXE interface was Microsoft's hint towards a general entertainment system w/ the music, news and television tabs. As opposed to just a console you can talk to others on and play games with. You could tell what direction they wanted to go in. Especially after the kinect got released.

I forgot how good the original NXE was. I remember being really upset when they replaced the Blades interface, but I really grew to love NXE before they "optimized" it for Kinect.

They Shoud Just Give You The Option Between The Old Dashborad And The New Dashborad (however thats just my opinion)
I do too but they can't because the new dashboard comes with new features that affects gameplay and the Xbox Live Experience (ex: parties) on the first dashboard you cannot start a party, or on this dashboard you cannot send photos but you can on the new ones.
They can slightly modify the dashboards so you can use the extra features

That was my favourite dashboard on the Xbox 360. I remember it being super smooth and just the overall experience with your avatar and when you joined a party there would be your friends avatars with thier own unique backgrounds. That's when Microsoft really cared about the gamers.

Its amazing how it has changed over the years. I never had a 360, but played a lot on a friend's house and his console already had this dashboard back in the day, never knew there was an earlier version (the "blades" one, with tabs). Also, this is better than the current (and last) one, based on metro windows style.
Whoever decided to "upgrade" the 360 interface to the new Metro-looking one, should be banned from making design decisions on anything ever again.

For those wondering, the name of the song is "The Bully Plank" by Paper Tiger. That original dashboard, my childhood right there. I dont mind the new board we have now, but I wouldnt mind if Microsoft brought back the oridinal dashboard.

They should put the old theme back on for like a month or so. I remember getting my first Xbox 360 back in MW2 days and the dashboard was like this. Then in the Black Ops 1 days, they changed it >:(
