Tip: You can set up sleep focus for your sleep instead of scheduling DND and in that way, you'll also be getting a dimmed lock screen on all your devices including your Apple Watch. Basically, it's an optimized version of DND for sleep.
Man your notifications for ads spoke to me on a spiritual level. I order food almost every other day and need my food delivery app notifications on. The amount of ads and promo notifications I get from them is insane. You can’t even customise them and turn off promos. Just infuriating specially for apple not to ban this.
Same thing with Uber and Bolt... Annoying, I need the notification to know when a cab arrives, not when they want to promote food to me or promote their ride services... Another interesting thing occurred a few days ago when I landed in Zürich. Bolt sent me a notification informing me that "Hey, we got taxi services here in Zürich as well" which surprised me given that I have not taken a Bolt cab for a couple of weeks, yet they knew that I had landed in a city that isn't my hometown. Yes, I am aware that I am keeping location services on at all times with Bolt (as the driver/customer relationships seem to be more solid when it is), but I must admit that I kind of forgot that they actually are monitoring every move that I make outdoors and may use that information. Something I'm quite bipartite about... On one hand I like the fact that some apps provide convenient solutions or promotions based on where I am, it's a well targeted ad, on the other hand I am disrelish the thought about how some companies know where I am, at all times. Googles service for reminding me where I parked a car is something I appreciate. Which in the end utilizes the same location tracking functionality (and even more data as it recalls the Bluetooth connectivity with the car)... Weirdly enough I do not mind it at all.
Honestly every single Oliur video that’s uploaded inspires me to do better. This one made me reach for my phone and organise notification summary. I feel like this is really good feature also. Like you said, important/not important notifications.
Will soon switch to an iphone. Also a smaller phone than before which I hope will help a bit with reducing screen time as well. These were very helpful tips. 💡
Been wondering why almost all apple user never use the folder feature to group apps together? Coming from android and now to apple, I always group it together to make the home screen cleaner and faster navigation through dozens of apps
For me the tip with Myopia is probably the most important one of them all, because I have Myopia and I wear glasses because of it. And I still catch myself being to close to the phone most of the time. So thank you so much!
great video Oliur! My notifications system works similar to yours, I got super tired of my lock screen being spammed with shit and a few weeks ago I removed a ton of apps and turned off notifications for a lot of stuff. Another thing worth doing is changing the notifications your Apple Watch gets, so you can have things that aren’t super important still show up on your iPhone lock screen but don’t bother you by pinging you on your watch.
You have given me a lot of great tips about managing your phone. Your video on the camera was pure gold. I might be able to take photos as good as you do now.
Notifications can be annoying but the ones that really kill me are the ones from Twitter / X and TikTok “abc posted a new video. You recently commented in one of their post” or random notifications from X about people you don’t even follow. It’s crazy how much effort this companies put to have us coming back to their apps every time.
My notifications are highly limited. I don't have any focus modes except straight up do not disturb that only allows calls from favorites in case of an emergency. I also sold my Apple Watch and switched it to a traditional watch.
I have a date just and a submariner, the submariner is a bit bigger but I don't really need any other watches than those two. For now I only use a watch and a whoop band. I try to be fairly minimal but would consider getting an Apple Watch for seeing essential information like you said without having to check my phone, and switching between only wearing a watch or only wearing an Apple Watch. But it seems over the top to have both a whoop band and an Apple Watch, so what am I giving up between the two?
Do you prefer dark mode? Especially in good lit environment and when coding? I do agree I no longer see text from far away or when using more space resolution and I’m only 31.
I also tend to use a simple Apple Watch face and then secondly use the widgets if need be so im not then scrolling through my watch apps on a smaller screen, again i dont have the best vision either
I share your opinion about using Apple Watch as a notification filter 10:36. However how do you manage it exactly? For me I can see a red dot (or notification glance) on my AW, so I check it. Now I have two options: 1. Ignore it and the red dot stays - obscuring other notifications since I keep seeing the red dot. 2. Dismiss the notification - this resets the red dot on my AW but also dismisses notification on my iPhone for later check up. I mostly use option 2 but then I forget to check the specific notifications that are less important since those do not show on my iPhone anymore.
What I do is turn off specific apps from pinging my Watch, but still let them show up on my iPhone lock screen. So it wont ping my watch, but it’ll still be on my phone when I check it the next time.
About the app limiter, doesn't it get useless if your phone has it, but you watch your watch for the notifications? I mean you limit yourself from looking at apps on phone, but distract yourself with notifications on watch?
I switch mine off completely to do blocks of deep work 3/4 hours at a time. I have come to realise and accept that I am not reasonable with scrolling so had to deploy SAS tactics 😂
Brands that I personally own and I suggest you to review Mr Oliur! 1. Thule Subterra backpack, 2. Officine creative Rakeem shoes, 3. isi soda co2 1 litter bottle, 4. Avantone Mixcube creme speakers, 5. UA acoustics.
I get it, but what happened to self control and silent mode? I it may be a generation thing. I'm definitely older and didn't grow up with social media.
I have mine set up where when I get to work it shows all my work apps then when I’m home it hides all work apps

I feel putting time stamps would be a nice supplement to this video.

Would you mind doing a video on how you create your Apple Watch layout please?
Agree about eventually a watch to replace the phone so it's less distracting.
got the exact same 2 watch setup, perfect for every situation
