Same, I love totk but there’s just something so magical about exploring the vastness of Hyrule for the first time in Botw. Nothing can ever compare to the nostalgia I have of playing Botw.
Loved both, they completed each other..Totk really a great sequel (10/10 for me) ..but Botw have a momentum when release..something like feel or atmosphere that totk doesn't have..dispite of all that this both is great imo
It's both the same game, TotK has an actual story and quest to do, while BotW has nothing but the same repetitive shrines. How do people consider that better 🤔

It's the strangest thing when people force all sorts of crazy narratives to defend Botw, like "less is more" etc. I mean, I've cooled off on critcising Botw, especially now that the Switch 2 has been announced. But for me Tears is a near incomparibly better game,, I felt like I was playing an actual Zelda game after so long, since Skyward Sword.

@@netweed09Its not about "less is more" I love both games, but I simply prefer the way Botw conveys it's story, the whole post-apocalyptic Hyrule vibe was incredible for me, Link trying to find out what happened to him and the Kingdom while also seeing the ruins of the past now being claimed by nature but also seeing the will of Humans to live despite that with settlements being rebuilt, Totk story is more grandiose and I really like it, but the vibe is more on the reconstructionism side of it, with more towns and people and settlements all around, it's definitely the better game in terms of fun/things to do but there's is simply some vibes that are unmatched for me in Botw and that's what makes me come back to it more than Totk, it's so weird for me that people drag thru the mud the game that paved the way for Totk when both are clearly good games with different approaches.
@greatpartnerLz Nah, that's an excuse. BotW had nothing to uncover because the story that unfolded was so dull and predictable. Not to mention the god-awful dialog. And to add the post-apocalyptic, Hyrule just hides the whole empty world, so it excuses the developers to not make towns or NPCs. Truly, the most dullest games to come out to have so much praise is wild

Sometimes BotW looks better sometimes TotK is superior... Above ground BotW has better lighting, but TotK looks better underground... A third game should combine the best of both games
Yes, the biggest complaint i have on BotW is that by the time you see something behind you, they are already close enough to inflict damage. I miss the Ocarina roll!lol
I think i liked it botw more when it came to exploring. It just felt more thematic. Maybe if it moved back during combat and then got closer when you got back to exploring and then we got a couple personal prefrence settings it could have been your choice. Like the FF7 Remake series camera.

I own and love both games but deciding on which one is my comfort game is tough. I wish they could have combined them both into one... similar to the light world and dark world of Link to the Past. Be able to switch between BOTW and TOTK versions of Hyrule to access different areas at different times would be great. 😃
I haven’t played TOTK yet, but based on what I’ve seen, I like BOTW better (which I have played) because it is more simple. But TOTK does look really cool, maybe I’ll get it eventually in the future.
I agree with you, I have only played BOTW, and it's one of my all-time favorite games. I haven't played TOTK yet, because the building and stuff looks cheesy to me, and i like how BOTW is simple and feels more realistic (even though the zelda universe is not really realistic at all.) I dont really know if i should get TOTK or not.

Played botw for about 20 hours but weirdly never finished it, after playing totk for 55 hours and finally finishing it. I gotta say both games are masterpieces but totk is more grandiose.
Is it only me or when totk came out I couldn't (can ngl) look at botw the same as before? Idk, totk feels just like the completion of botw, and therefore majestic❤️. If only there was revali's gale in totk I could die in peace😂
You will be disappointed if you approach it with that mindset. Its a completely different game with completely different gameplay and story that id unrelated. If you are interested in that then check the openening cutscene out and see if you like the direction of the story. I personally was dissappointed with the game because i went in with the worng mindset. My favorite part of the game was seeing some of hyrule in its restored state.
I dont think so, it's medium difficulty. Its like older aRPG games like Gothic or Risen - at the beggining youre NOTHING but with a progress you can become stronger and stronger and at the end you're untouchable. Maybe it's a Little harder at the beggining but later...nah
I liked TOTK better. I didnt have the nostalgia factor play a part since i played them back to back. After I completed BOTW I really felt like TOTK was a big upgrade. Link just felt more powerful with the new abilities. Both are masterpieces tho.

I see that you got Breath of the Wild from your other comment. That's good and TotK is a sequel to BotW so yes play BotW first. Just chiming in to say I have played both games for dozens of hours and haven't actually beaten either. They are long games depending on how you play. TotK makes some nice quality of life changes which might make it hard to adjust to BotW afterwards. That said, the two games give you completely different powers, stories, and although both take place in Hyrule, everything is dramatically changed in TotK. TotK also adds more areas to explore above and below Hyrule. Good luck, enjoy!

I haven't played since Twilight Princess. I was thinking of going back and replaying it but then realized there were new titles. Should i replay Twilight Princess, or should i try one of the new ones?
I would have liked to play it in 1440p120 on my PC (by paying for it) but playing it in 720p15 with a viewing distance, no thanks. I haven't been used to playing like that since 2008
I have to say, i enjoyed TotK more. BotW was a masterpiece, bulut it was not perfect. I prefer the Story, Dungeons, Bosses and Abilities in TotK. The only two things that BotW made better were the Champions and the Mastermode. But its still a masterpiece
Totk is definitely a better video game but there’s something about the vibe of botw I miss. It’s very bleak and isolated intentionally. I also dislike that they got rid of all the ancient armor and weapons, guardians, and the divine beasts without addressing them at all. Also Zelda should have instantly known ganondorf was the mummy from the start of the game since he’s spreading out the gloom that calamity ganon was made of in the place calamity ganon came from and he has ganon in his name
God bless nintendo and Playstation and Xbox and all game makers and game developers even PC game makers and designers I really hope that people everywhere figure out a proper plan for the upcoming switch 2 to ensure that they don't make any of the same mistakes as before with making too many games or too many 3rd party games or whatever mistake I heard happened with the switch that caused problems
I know I am super late to this game, but I'm just now playing BotW, and noticed somethings i was amazed at. 1. Link is right-handed now. 2. An actual Jump button. 3. Durability functions suck!!!
Both games on their own are outstanding, among the best games we've ever seen. Seperately they are easily two of the best open world games ever, but thats the problem, this fact is only true when you consider both games as stand alone games, seperate from each other. TOTK as a sequel to BOTW an entire 6 YEARS later is beyond lacklustre, it's just a joke. The games are way too similar, no continuity in the story and way too much similarity in every aspect that one would expect some change in. Especially for a sequel that came out an entire 6 YEARS later.
Ok now compare : A Link to the Past VS Link's Awakening Ocarina of Time VS Wind Waker Wind Waker VS Twilight Princess Skyward Sword VS Breath of the Wild After that, TOTK will appear like a BotW DLC
Love both games but I gotta say I do miss the Guardians. They just seem so imposing and the theme that comes on when they spot you is exciting

TotK has improved draw distance (surprisingly) and noticeably more-realistic fire effects
There’s more grass on BOTW, I prefer the feeling of BOTW world because of that

TOTK as a sequel to BOTW an entire 6 YEARS later is beyond lacklustre, it's just a joke. The games are way too similar, no continuity in the story and way too much similarity in every aspect that one would expect some change in. Especially for a sequel that came out an entire 6 YEARS later.
I absolutely hated the intro/tutorial area for TOTK.
